âwhat the hell do you do when your mother wants you to suddenly plan a family dinner for at least ten?â Pj asked aloud and to no one in particular. âI mean, four or five, one can handle.. but ten? absolute bullshit.â truthfully, she was looking for any escape, shoving her phone back into her pocket. she had four hours to either, A. figure out how to make a meal. or, B. run away and turn her phone off. she was hoping for the latter.Â
âdonât get me wrong, i love my extended family.. i just canât be bothered to be surrounded by them right now. you know?â she sighed deeply, rubbing her hands over her face. âwhat do i do?â
tjoconnorsâ:
âi was taught to ignore any black dogs growing up, theyâre shite luck. always mean something bad is gonna happen so you just gotta ignore them.â he shrugged, soon enough opening one of the bottles and taking a swig from it. âiâmâŠpartially kidding. but, no, i havenât seen any dog today, actually. but i can try and help you look if you need it?â tj added, pointing the neck of the bottle towards her. âyeah, is that not what we can count as being neighbourly anymore?â
parker had half the mind to want to smack her own forehead at the others response, only being able to keep herself from doing it because she did not want a red mark on her forehead. âeach person and family have their own thoughts.. but iâve only ever heard it toward black cats and even those of dog or wolf forms in reading tea.â she said, snorting slightly; instantly covering her face out of embarrassment.
âsorry. no digs towards you. truly. each to their own, respect.â pj gave a smile. the prospect of losing her friends dog? terrifying. even more, of not finding said dog? she might as well go into hiding. plus, embarrassing herself in front of someone else? hide her.Â
raising a brow, she shook her head with a string of laughter. âoh, no, we certainly are welcome to it, i was just taken aback by it. i ask about a missing dog and you offer a beer.â she deeply exhaled. âif youâre offering, iâm accepting -- and your offer on helping looking for this dog?â

the moment he could fully take in the comment was the exact moment the spoon stopped stirring itself. unfortunately this would take some time. words hung in the air as he pondered for a couple of seconds. the spoon slowed its stirring the, finally the break of concentration followedâ the nonsensical comment paused all movements. the clattering of the spoon further snapped him out of his drawing.Â
an apologetic frown would meet her tilting of her head as he moved his cup of tea to the side. âIâm confused. Am I the ghost in this situation or are you the ghostâ?â the food and the book surrounding her offered an explanation of normalcy. âYou donât look like a ghost. I donât think ghosts can read or is there something youâre not telling meââÂ
âghosts?â the question faded into silence, the straw in her mug slowly moving in a circular motion by itself. âIâm definitely not a ghost, however i just know they are all around.â PJ said pointedly, grinning with softest of chuckles. âI guess you could say, maybe, we are both the ghosts in this situation. I mean, they are real, yeah?â she mused, taking a sip of her tea. âbut who knows who is what and what is who.â she shrugged her shoulders. âand if youâre a ghost, then there is something that you arenât telling me.â the woman squinted her eyes, eyeing up and down at the other. âyou can totally be a ghost. or a figment of my mind. youâre gorgeous -- almost non human looking.â

KEN & ââ || OPEN FOR ALL
he had forty more minutes left of his lunch break. a cup of tea grew cold as time unraveled and the cafe in town square bustled with clientele. the sounds of forks scraping against plates, would have grated his ears. yet he was zoned out, and trying to concentrate on the drawing at hand. Ken wasnât an artist. he never really tried to be one. he could measure dimensions with a pencil on wood, and craft angels for square feet. his artistry, was typically in the shed building. perhaps thatâs why he didnât assume himself an artist.
but when the flashbacks would come unwillingly, the pencil moved itself. and rather than considering this action a medium, he felt like the medium. as if time used him for clues and cues in his environment. as if to speak something grander and more important than a cup of chowder.Â
because he was in the back corner of the cafe, he wouldnât have realized that others could see that while he was focused on his drawing, the spoon in his saucer began to stir itself. in fact, he himself hadnât noticed the magic until the sounds rounded at the rim metal cruising against metal.Â
âCan you believe it?â
âThere are ghosts in this cafe.âÂ
enjoying her short hour of a break between her online classes, parker happily enjoyed the reclusive back end of the cafe with her food and book. there were others around, but things seemed to be fairly calm as she contently enjoyed the atmosphere. a welcoming comfort compared to the many scratching and intruding memos she was given.Â
sipping her coffee whilst going over her work, PJ looked up, thinking she heard her name being called. a few seconds past and she hears nothing more; returning to her work. looking towards the other, she could not help but tilt her head at his words. âtheyâre all around.â she simply responded. âhere, there... definitely now.â she said, acknowledging the spoon stirring itself.Â
âcan i help you with somethinâ?â tj asked the other as he moved from the back of his van, pulling off his gloves as he shot a smile their way. âdonât mind the appearance, i promise i usually clean up a lot better than this. well, less mud at least.â the irishman leaned against the hood, his sunglasses now pushed up to the top of his head so he could properly look at whoever he had spoken to. âor, if i was hearing things â i got cold beers in the back that might make me feel a little less weird if i offer them out?â
âactually, have you seen a black lab run past here by any chance?â the woman asked, slowing to a stop from a jog; looking at the male, hopeful. âmy friendâs damn dog ran off and they will probably murder me if I canât find this dog.â parker explained, having already been searching for the furry friend the past hour. it wasnât her fault anyway that the dog got away. she just so happened to feel the need to search for them. A chuckle left her lips, raising an eyebrow. âwait.. are you just out right offering beer to strangers that pass you by?â she mused.
[SYDNEY PARK | TWENTY-THREE | SHE/HERÂ | CIS WOMAN ] if it isnât PARKER JAMES AHN ! you know, PJ ! theyâve lived in monarda for THEIR WHOLE LIFE. some people say that theyâre ALLURING & LIONHEARTED, but that they can also be COLD & CLOSED OFF. last i heard, they were working at AUNTIE MAE'S as a COOK/FRONT DESK CLERK ! iâve also heard the rumor that theyâre a WITCH. if youâd ask me, they remind me of ORANGE LEAVES IN THE FALL, DANCING IN THE RAIN BAREFOOT AND LISTENING TO DREAM BY FLEETWOOD MAC! i wonder what monardaâs got in store for them today!Â
hi yâall, Iâm lily! iâm 23, from the CST and i go by she/they. i adore all things nature and writing/reading! Iâm excited to be able to expand more on my darling PJ, whom i adore soo much.

âShe is kind and very beautiful. But she can be so cruel and it comes so suddenly and such birds that fly, dipping and hunting, with their small sad voices are made too delicately for the sea.â

Do you ever have one of those memories where you think you remember a taste or a feel of something, maybe an object, but the feeling is so bizarre and imperceptible that you just canât quite get a hold of it? It drives you crazy.
