The day itself varies.

Tragic Outcomes Chapters: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]
Xiao was out and about again. Every time you come back to Wangshu Inn from your commissions, he wasn’t there. Usually, he would be out doing his duties to protect Liyue from evil, but this time, it’s different. Xiao has been spending time with Aether and Lumine a lot lately, which you didn’t mind at all! You’re okay with Xiao having friends and going out to help, but it’s gotten to the point where you hardly see Xiao, and he’s out with them more than he is with you. You knew how important both Aether and Lumine are to Xiao; the three of them are pretty close with one another, but you couldn’t help but feel left out whenever you see the three of them hang out together.
Today was no different; you have just gotten back from your commissions, and you were exhausted to the bone. All you wanted to do was lay in bed and talk to Xiao. Speaking of Xiao, you went to the highest area of Wangshu Inn to pay the adepti, who is also your boyfriend, a visit. But surprise, surprise, he is not there. You look out from the balcony, and out in the distance, you see Xiao with the twins. They were walking alongside one another, Lumine and Aether talking lively while Xiao was listening to whatever they were saying. Xiao seems content and happy; he doesn’t look tense like how he usually does. Even when he’s with you, Xiao doesn’t seem to warm up to you as much as he did with the twins. Just that thought alone makes your heart hurt.
You pressed your lips together and walked back into Wangshu Inn, ignoring the painful squeeze in your chest. You took a quick shower and changed into something comfortable; you didn’t want to do anything at all now that you’re in a sour mood. You lay in your bed with the blanket over your body; you were about to drift off to sleep when you felt a presence in your room. But you ignored it and closed your eyes. You hear quiet footsteps approaching your bed, making you hold onto the blanket tightly around you. You knew who it was, but you didn’t want to face them at the moment. Not when you’re feeling this way.
“Are you asleep?” A familiar voice asks.
You didn’t say anything; you just wanted to sleep away the emotions that were bubbling up inside of you. It was such an unpleasant feeling. You hate yourself for feeling this way. You can feel him brush your hair away from your face and gently caress your cheek with one hand. Great, now you feel guilty for feeling jealous. Sighing in defeat, you cracked your eyes opened slowly and looked up to see Xiao gazing down upon you.
“How did your commissions turn out?” Xiao asks, sitting down beside you.
“It was tiring.” You muttered, hugging the blanket close to your body.
Xiao doesn’t say anything and continues to brush your hair away from your face gently. You’ve never done any commissions with Xiao’s help, and you were proud about that. Mainly because you didn’t struggle with any of your commissions so far, but you want him to join you at least once in a while with your commissions. It wouldn’t hurt to ask him, right?
“Xiao…” You said hesitantly.
“Yes, [Y/N]?”
“Do you… maybe… would you be okay with accompanying me on my commissions tomorrow?” You ask softly, afraid of his reaction. Silence fell over between you and Xiao.
“I’ll be busy tomorrow, I’m sorry. I will be out helping Lumine and Aether tomorrow with their commissions.” Xiao replies.
You feel your heart beginning to break in your chest gradually. The only reason why Xiao couldn’t help you with your commissions was that he was going to be assisting Lumine and Aether with their very own commissions. The commissions that they were going together in pairs. Both Lumine and Aether are strong and powerful; why would they need Xiao’s help? Sure, you have a vision yourself, but you’re not the best when it comes to combat, and there’s plenty of room for improvement, hence why you have asked Xiao to accompany you to your commission tomorrow.
“You’ve helped them plenty with their commissions already, Xiao. Can you at least help me out with my commissions once, Xiao?” You ask weakly, sitting up on your bed. “I’ve never asked you for your assistance when it comes to my commissions because I didn’t want to bother you.” You frowned.
“Why would you need my help when you can manage on your own just fine?” Xiao scoffs; he stands up from your bed and walks towards the window.
“Xiao, I’m just asking for your assistance once! Just once!” You plead. “I want to be able to spend some time with you, but you’re always out and about with the twins!” You exclaimed, getting up from your bed and approached him slowly, afraid that you would scare him off if you were to walk up to him quickly.
“Don’t bring them into the conversation, [Y/N].” Xiao was now frowning deeply; Xiao crossed his arms over his chest.
“Is it a crime to want to spend time with someone I care deeply about?” You whispered; Xiao didn’t respond. Instead, he looks out the window and avoids your eyes. With every passing second, the silence between the two of you continues to break your heart even further.
“You see both Lumine and Aether more than your own girlfriend. I see the treasure hoarders more than I see my own boyfriend.” You laughed bitterly, tears blurring your vision. You swallow the lump in your throat, “I always look forward to seeing you when I get back from my commissions, but whenever I return, I come home to nothing.”
“Enough.” Xiao raises his voice, silencing you. Your heart races against your chest, “I’m not in the mood to deal with you right now,” Xiao states firmly.
Before you know it, Xiao disappears in a puff of black, green, and white smoke. Your eyes fall to the ground, endless tears roll down your cheeks. You collapsed to the wooden floor, your body shaking with sobs as you buried your face into your knees. As much as you wanted to spend some time with Xiao, it seems like he didn’t want to spend time with you. He would much rather be with Aether and Lumine than his own girlfriend. Just a mere thought of Xiao finding happiness when he’s with the twins hurt you deeply. Could this be the end of your relationship with Xiao?
Later that night, you lay in your bed, hoping that Xiao would show up. But he didn’t; he never did. You ended up staying up almost all night in hopes that you would see Xiao make an appearance in your room at Wangshu Inn, but he never showed up. When you got up from your bed to get ready for the day, you felt awful. You didn’t have any energy left inside you, nor did you want to get out of bed. But because you’re in need of mora, you couldn’t cancel your commissions for today, especially when there’s a commission that’ll give you a lot of mora. Standing outside on the balcony, you watched the sun slowly rise into the sky.
“Should I say goodbye to Xiao before I leave for my commissions?” You ask yourself, anxiousness beginning to bite at you. Usually, before you leave for a commission, you would tell him that you will start on your commissions for today. But because the two of you have gotten into an argument, you weren’t so sure if you should call him. You swallowed back your nerves and called out to him, “Xiao?” He didn’t appear. Whenever you call out to him, he would be in front of you in a heartbeat, but for the first time ever, he didn’t respond to your call. Your heart drops to the pit of your stomach. “I’ll be starting on my commissions today. Wish me good luck.” You said to no one; you slowly turned around and walked down the stairs of Wangshu Inn, heading towards the Adventurer’s Guild at Liyue Harbor.
The first three commissions weren’t hard at all, thankfully. All you had to do was fight a few treasure hoarders, help Chang the Ninth submit his book for a writing competition, and make almond tofu for Hongdou’s sick daughter, Chenxiang, so that she would take her medication. Now that you’ve gotten to your last quest for the day, you were beginning to have a bad feeling about this one particular commission. The final commission for today was to fight the ruin hunter while keeping an eye out for the sword that Lan was searching high and low for; you’re hoping that the commission goes well because you’re not a fan of ruin hunters. They were hard to battle, and they were pretty fast. Not only that, but they will shoot endless missiles at you if you don’t take them down.
Approaching the area where the ruin hunter is located, you can already feel the anxiety start eating away at you. Your catalyst appears in front of you as it locks its target onto you. The sound of whirring machinery made you even more anxious.
“Let’s see if you have the sword that Lan is looking for.” You breathed.
The ruin hunter transforms its left arm into a blade and raises it up before charging at you while quickly slashing once at you. You jump dodged out of the way, shooting sharp shards of ice towards its direction with your catalyst. The ruin hunter approaches you, beginning to slash at you once again. This time, it has successfully sliced you across the torso. You cried out in pain, stumbling towards the ground. You pressed your hands against the cut and quickly assessed it; the cut was deep, but it wasn’t too deep. Blood was pouring out of your cut; you quickly healed yourself without taking your eyes off of the ruin hunter.
“This is going to be a pain in the ass.” You whispered, wiping the bead of sweat from your forehead.
And you were right! The battle between you and the ruin hunter continued for who knows how long. After many failed attempts of trying to take the ruin hunter down, you were finally successful. You watched the ruin hunter crash to the ground before disintegrating. You were covered in cuts and bruises; you felt tired.
You walked around the area, exhaustion clinging onto you like an annoying dendro slime that continuously stalks you without attacking you. Nonetheless, you went to search for the sword that Lan had been looking for. It belonged to her deceased brother, and she was on the search for the sword that once belonged to him. Although, you weren’t sure if you’d be able to find this sword. Right as you were walking through the entrance, you spotted the fatui cryogunner legionnaire, electrohammer vanguard, pyroslinger bracer, and the hydrogunner legionnaire. It seems like fate is not on your side today, unfortunately.
“Oh no.” You whispered, freezing in fear, when you made eye contact with the electrohammer vanguard. “Not today, please, not now.” You whimpered, slowly backing away from the group of skirmishers.
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here.” The cryogunner legionnaire coos mockingly, approaching your shaking figure.
“This will be interesting.” The electrohammer vanguard smirks, holding up his electro-infused hammer.
Quickly summoning your catalyst, the four fatui skirmishers begin to attack you all at once. You were outnumbered, you’re injured from your previous battle with the ruin hunter, and now you have to deal with the fatui skirmishers. Just when you were wondering if your day couldn’t get any worse, it certainly did. Since you’re not the best fighter, and you’re more of a healer, the fight with the fatui skirmishers did not turn out well on your end. Somehow, you managed to fend off the fatui skirmishers while hanging on for dear life. By the time the fight had ended, you weren’t in the best conditions.
You are injured. Not just cuts and bruises; your head is bleeding to the point where your blood covers your entire face. Your arm? Broken and laying limp by your side. Your right leg? Broken, although it could be fractured, you couldn’t tell because of the significant amount of pain you’re in right now. You’re pretty sure you broke your ribs as well because the electrohammer vanguard smashed his hammer right on your torso.
You could never imagine yourself being fatally injured from a commission until now. You couldn’t move your jaws at all; you were sure that your jaws were broken as well because the pain was unbearable. It was hard to open and close your mouth without the feeling of sharp pain in your jaws. Oh! Let’s not forget how you’re seeing double in your right eye, and you can’t see out of the left eye at all!
Tears are continuously cascading down your cheeks, and you weren’t sure if it was from the pain or the fact that you’re dying in an area where no one ever visits unless it’s for a commission. You were leaning up against the walls, slowly sliding down. Blood was staining the stone walls that you once leaned against for support.
“X-Xia…” You choked on your blood; you sputtered out a cough, pain wracking your body. Endless tears rolled down your cheeks, leaving streaks of tears through the blood that dried on your face. Fresh rivers of blood continue to gush out of the cracks on your skull.
“Xiao…” You whispered, praying that he would come when you called out his name. But alas, he still did not appear in front of you.
“Please, Xiao! Please answer me.” You whimpered.
Again, nothing. Refusing to give up, you continue to call out for Xiao, hoping that he would get tired of hearing you and would show up. You even tried to scream his name out into the open until your throat became raw and painful. He never showed up.
Strained whimpers and cries escaped from you as you attempted to heal yourself. You could only heal the minor wounds; the other significant injuries remained untouched. You sat in the shadows, unsure of how you were going to get back to Liyue Harbor. No one was around to help you; Xiao wouldn’t come when you called his name. You’re far from civilization. You had no other choice but to walk back to Liyue Harbor while clinging to the last bit of your life.
“I bet when Lumine or Aether call his name when they’re in danger, he would appear out of thin air for them without any hesitation.” You think to yourself bitterly, limping towards Liyue Harbor, leaving a trail of blood with every step of the way.
“I don’t think I can make it any much further.” Small whimpers escape from your cracked, bloody lips. Tears continued to roll down your cheeks; the pain was excruciating. Everywhere on your body felt hot from the pain. You felt like your entire body was on fire. Your ears are ringing; it was so loud that it drowned out the voice approaching you.
“Holy shit, [Y/N]?”
Your vision begins to blur; before you know it, you finally lose your consciousness. Childe runs and catches you in his arms before you can hit the stone ground. His eyes widened at the sight of your condition.
“You need medical attention immediately. I don’t know how much longer you can go without any medical attention.” Childe says as he starts sprinting towards Liyue Harbor. Thankfully, you somehow managed to make it halfway there before losing your consciousness. “What happened to you?” Childe whispers as fear and worry consume him the more he gets closer and closer to the harbor.
The sight of Bubu Pharmacy gets bigger and bigger as Childe approaches the building with your unconscious form in his arms. Even though Bubu Pharmacy doesn’t specialize in critical medical treatments, Childe just hopes that you could get some kind of help. If it costs a couple thousand, if not millions of mora, Childe didn’t care as long as you don’t die. Childe bursts through the entrance of Bubu Pharmacy, startling everyone.
“Please, someone, please save her!” Childe begs, his wild eyes looking around the pharmacy with pure fear and urgency.
“Hand her to me,” Baizhu demands, stepping out from behind the counter and holding his arms out. Childe hesitates for a second before gently handing you over to the dendro pharmacist.
“Even though Bubu Pharmacy doesn’t specialize in medical treatments, I’ll see what I can do with the help of medical professionals from Fontaine and Sumeru,” Baizhu says; Childe nods his head and bites on his bottom lip.
He watches you get carried off into the next toom; Childe leans over and lets out a shaky sigh. Tears are beginning to blur his vision. Childe has always seen you as a little sister, someone he cares deeply about aside from his siblings. He wasn’t prepared to see you in such… conditions. It scares him. What if you passed away due to your injuries? You didn’t have relatives living in Liyue, nor did you have any surviving family members. What will he do then? Childe ignored the medical professionals from Fontaine and Sumeru when they stepped into Bubu Pharmacy. They cast an urgent glance at one another after seeing Childe before rushing to the back of the pharmacy.
Time was ticking by; as the day started to dwindle, Childe began to pace back and forth in Bubu Pharmacy. The voices inside his head drowned out the soft chatter between Herbalist Gui and Qiqi. How long has he been in Bubu Pharmacy? Are the medical professional from Fontaine and Sumeru operating on you? Your injuries are more than a scratch and a bruise; you’re bleeding everywhere. Childe blinks and looks down at his body; he was covered in your blood. A weak quiet laugh escapes from him.
“I look like I just killed someone.” He thinks to himself, running his hand through his red hair.
“Sir, you should go and clean up. I’m sure when you come back, [Y/N] should be out.” Herbalist Gui speaks up, pulling Childe out of his thoughts.
“I really should clean myself up, but I don’t want to leave her side. I can wait.” Childe whispers.
Herbalist Gui frowns. “But sir, the sight of you covered in blood will frighten the customers. Please, go clean up, or don’t come back until you wash up.” Herbalist Gui crosses his arms over his chest.
“As I’ve said before, I don’t want to leave her side!” Childe was seething; anger was bubbling up inside of him. How dare he try to get Childe to leave when he knew that Childe was waiting for you! “I will leave once I know that she’s safe and okay.” He clenches his hand up into a fist. Herbalist Gui rolls his eyes and lets out a frustrated sigh.
“Fine, but once she’s out from Doctor Baizhu’s care, you leave immediately and clean up,” Childe smirks at the man in front of him.
“Oh? Is that a challenge, I hear?” Childe asks, stepping closer towards the counter of the pharmacy.
Before Herbalist Gui could open his mouth and say something, Baizhu steps out from the back of the pharmacy. Both Childe and Herbalist Gui look over at Baizhu, the tension between the two men disappears almost immediately.
“How is [Y/N]?” Childe asks softly, looking at the pharmacist with anticipation.
“She’s in a rough condition,” Baizhu replies, adjusting his glasses. “She has a broken arm; her skull is cracked, she broke four of her ribs, her leg is fractured, and she broke her jaw. We were able to operate on her, but there is one thing that we weren’t able to fix.” Baizhu replies, letting out a solemn sigh.
“And that is…?” Childe trails off, his heart hammering against his chest.
“She lost sight in her left eye. She will not be able to see out from that eye ever again. When she wakes up, we’ll give her an option of whether she wants to remove her left eye or keep it and wear a cover over the visionless eye.” Baizhu says as he crosses his arms over his chest.
“She lost one of her eyesight?” Childe whispers, his heart dropping in his chest.
“Unfortunately, she did. But, the good news is that she will recover just fine, all thanks to you.” Baizhu gives Childe a small smile. “It will take some time for her to heal due to how terrible her injuries are. Her jaws are wired shut, so she will not be able to eat food. The food will have to be liquefied in order for her to get some kind of nutrients.”
“Can I go see her?” Childe asks.
“Of course, you can! Please, follow me.” Baizhu nods his head, leading Childe towards the back of the pharmacy. Childe feels the prick of anxiety as he walks further into the pharmacy. His heart was racing against his chest, the palm of his hands felt sweaty. Why was he so nervous? As the two of them got close to a secluded room, Baizhu grabbed onto the door handle and opened the door slowly. The two of them step into the room; there, you lay, unconscious. You were barely clinging onto life, but you’re breathing, much to Childe’s relief. Baizhu steps out of the room to give Childe some privacy as he visits you.
Childe gets a close look at you, swallowing the forming lump in his throat. You were wrapped up in bandages from head to toe. Head bandaged, mouth wrapped in bandages, your left eye is bound with gauze. As for your arms, torso, and leg, they were covered in thick layers of gauze with bandages wrapped over the gauze. Childe couldn’t help but feel some sort of relief when he saw you again; yes, you’re injured, but you’re alive nonetheless. It hurts Childe to see you this way; it hurts him so much.
“What did they do to you?” Childe whispers, tears brimming his eyes as he kneels beside you.
He grabs onto your non-injured hand and gently squeezes it; tears begin to slide down his cheeks slowly. He could hear your faint breaths, but it was barely there. Despite Baizhu telling him that you would recover just fine, Childe couldn’t help but think of the worst outcome. What if you succumbed to your injuries? What if you died in the end?
“When I find out who did this, I’m going to kill them all,” Childe murmurs, wiping his tears away.
Childe didn’t know how long he stayed by your side until Herbalist Gui popped by to tell him that visiting hours were over and that he needed to leave. Childe gets up reluctantly and walks towards the door; before he can leave the room, Childe stops by the door entrance, glances over behind him, and stares at you for a moment. He didn’t want to leave your side, but with the look that Herbalist Gui is giving him, Childe sighs silently before walking out the door.
Once Childe has stepped out of Bubu Pharmacy, he walks down the steps, ignoring the looks people gave him as they passed by. Childe makes eye contact with a familiar figure and stops in his tracks as the person approaches him.
“Childe, care to explain as to why you’re covered in blood?” Zhongli asks, raising his eyebrows at the sight of Childe.
“Oh, this isn’t my blood or the blood of my enemies— yet.” Childe chuckles darkly, glancing down at his body. Now that he’s gotten a much closer look at himself, he was heartbroken at the sight of the amount of blood that was on him. You’ve lost so much blood, and yet you somehow managed to survive such a horrific incident.
“Oh? Then who’s blood is it?” Zhongli crosses his arms over his chest.
Childe pressed his lips together and hesitated for a moment. Zhongli stares at Childe quizzically, wondering as to why the color drained from Childe’s face just now after Zhongli has asked him a question.
“It’s [Y/N]’s blood,” Childe answers; Zhongli’s eyes narrow, and his amber eyes begin to glow with anger and rage.
“You killed [Y/N]?!” Zhongli hissed; Childe’s eyes widened, and he quickly shook his head.
“What!? No! I would never hurt her! She’s like a sister to me!” Childe exclaims. Childe takes a deep breath and points at Bubu Pharmacy.
“Then what happened to her? Why are you covered in her blood?” Zhongli demands, his heart racing in his chest, adrenaline flowing through his veins.
“[Y/N] is currently residing at Bubu Pharmacy, recovering from her injuries. I found her walking to Liyue Harbor, barely clinging to life. She’s injured, and I don’t even know how she got from wherever she was in the first place, all the way to Liyue Harbor.” Childe says he was heaving with anxiety.
“Zhongli.” Childe breathes, placing a hand on the former archon’s shoulder. “I need to go wash up; please watch over [Y/N] while I’m away. I don’t want anything to happen to her.” Childe murmurs, giving Zhongli a pleading gaze. Zhongli nods his head; Childe feels a massive wave of relief wash over him and guides him towards Bubu Pharmacy. Once the two of them stepped into the pharmacy, Herbalist Gui was about to say something to Childe, but Childe cut him off.
“I know, I know. I’ll go clean up after I show Zhongli where [Y/N]’s staying. He’ll be watching over her for me while I go wash up.” Childe waves Herbalist Gui off.
Herbalist Gui narrows his eyes at Childe as Childe leads Zhongli to the back of the pharmacy. Childe gently knocked on the door, hoping you’d answer, but alas, he was met with silence. Childe took a deep breath and slowly opened the door before entering the room, with Zhongli following after him. You were still in the same position last time he saw you (which was only a few minutes); Childe’s heart sank in his chest.
“Hey, [Y/N]! Guess who’s paying you a visit!” Childe says softly; he approaches you and gently brushes your hair away from your face. “I have to go and clean up really quick. While I’m gone, Zhongli will be watching over you to make sure you’re okay.” Childe leans down and presses a gentle kiss on your forehead.
Childe turns towards Zhongli; the two make eye contact and nod their heads at one another before Childe walks out of the room. Zhongli looked over at you and sat down beside your bed, examining the bandages that were almost covering you from head to toe. You looked so fragile. Almost lifeless, to be frank. Zhongli has never seen you in such a state, which terrifies him. What were you doing that caused you to be in this condition? Who’s evil enough to cause this much harm to someone who has gotten their vision not that long ago?
Zhongli gently grasps your uninjured hand; your hand is freezing to the touch. Zhongli stood up and grabbed the blanket, and pulled it up towards your neck, gently tucking you in to make sure you were warm. Just when he was about to sit down, you began to stir. You cracked your eye open and looked around the room. You made eye contact with the funeral parlor consultant; the silence between the two of you was thick.
“[Y/N]? How are you feeling?” Zhongli asks softly. Rather than answering his question, you looked around the room; you felt numb for a moment. You couldn’t feel anything at all; it was like you were paralyzed from the neck down. Of course, that feeling lasted only a few minutes before sharp pain shot through you, making you let a strained whimper.
“What’s wrong!?” Zhongli asks frantically; the pain only grew worse and worse throughout your body.
Tears began to spill from your eyes and down your cheeks; you couldn’t scream, you couldn’t cry out from the pain; your mouth was wired and bandaged shut. Everywhere on your body hurts so much. It was excruciating. Zhongli didn’t know whether to hold you or to leave you be because he could be putting you in even more significant pain if he did so. Baizhu rushes into the room and gasps softly at the sight of you, awake from your slumber.
“You’re not supposed to be up already, [Y/N],” Baizhu says softly; he has some kind of bottle in his hand.
“Doctor Baizhu, what’s going on with [Y/N]?” Zhongli asks.
“She’s feeling the aftermath of the surgery; she’s in immense pain. After all, she did have life-threatening injuries.” Baizhu replies; Baizhu approaches you and pulls out a syringe, and fills it up with some substance from the bottle.
“This will lessen the pain; it will last a few hours. You will feel tired and numb, but it is better than what you’re feeling right now.” Baizhu murmurs, approaching you, and leans over you. You feel the needle go into your arm for a few seconds before it retracts. Slowly, the pain goes away, and you finally relax. “There! You should be feeling much better now.” Baizhu smiles.
Baizhu steps away from you and looks over at Zhongli. “[Y/N] will not be able to take and eat for a while until she heals. She broke her jaw, and the medical professionals of Fontaine and Sumeru wired her jaws shut so they could properly heal. Of course, she won’t be able to eat any sort of regular food; it’ll have to be pureed for her to get some nutrients.” Baizhu explains; Zhongli nods his head and looks over at you.
“[Y/N] won’t be able to communicate verbally, so I have gotten a notepad and pen for her to write down her responses.” Baizhu pulls out a pen and a big notepad. He hands them over to you. You gingery grabbed the pad, placed them in your lap, and held onto the pen.
“If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ring the bell.” Baizhu points to the small bell beside your bed. “I will be on my way; customers are waiting for their prescription at the front counter of Bubu Pharmacy.” Baizhu gives you and Zhongli a small smile before walking out of your room.
“How are you feeling, [Y/N]?” Zhongli asks, breaking the silence between the two of you. You uncapped the pen and began writing down your response to his question.
“I’m exhausted, and everything still hurts. The pain is dull, but it’s still there.” Was your response.
“I see. Do you mind explaining to me what happened?” You hesitate for a second. “If you’re not comfortable with doing so, you don’t have to explain it if you don’t want to,” Zhongli adds.
You began writing down your response to Zhongli’s question. Although you came out of surgery not too long ago, just thinking about the situation that put you into this mess was hard. You wanted to go into detail, but you don’t believe you have the energy to write down so many things that have landed you in this position.
“I completed my last commission for the day, but then the Fatui skirmishers showed up. I fought them all on my own, but I was too weak. They injured me in the worst ways possible. I walked back to Liyue Harbor on my own and fainted on my way back to Liyue Harbor. Here I am.” You show Zhongli the notepad.
Zhongli frowns and crosses his arms over his chest. “So the Fauti skirmishers are the ones that injured you.” He clenches his jaws. “I’ll inform Childe on the matter. He will handle the situation on your behalf.” Zhongli states; you nod your head stiffly.
For the next remaining time, Zhongli kept you company. While he talks about the history of Liyue and Rex Lapis, he makes sure that you’re feeling okay and comfortable. Because you were unconscious for who knows how long, you were starting to get hungry. But the thought of eating liquefied food made your stomach turn.
“Are you hungry?” Zhongli asks; you nod your head reluctantly before writing down your response.
“But I don’t want to eat liquefied food! I don’t think I can stomach it down if I do eat something liquefied.” You held up the notepad with your uninjured hand.
“How about we try out soup instead of pureed food?” Zhongli suggests; you nod your head frantically. Anything but pureed food! Just when Zhongli was about to get up from his spot, the door opened, revealing Childe. Childe’s eyes widened at the sight of you, and before you know it, Childe was right beside you, burying his face into your hair.
“You’re awake! Thank Tsaritsa that you’re okay!” Childe breathes; he must be careful with your injuries as much as he wants to hug you tightly. “Now that you’re okay, who did this to you? Who hurt you? Tell me, and I’ll get rid of them immediately.” Childe demands, looking right into your eye. You look over at Zhongli.
“It was the Fatui skirmishers. There were four of them; they outnumbered her and inflicted harm upon her.” Zhongli says.
“The Fatui skirmishers? Great.” Childe scoffs; he rolls his eyes with annoyance. “I’m going to kill them when I see them. I’ll track them down.” Childe declares. Silence has fallen over you, Childe, and Zhongli. Unfortunately, the silence didn’t last long sing your growling stomach broke the silence.
“But before I kill them, we need to get you something to eat first!” Childe chuckles, kissing your forehead.
“I was about to go order her some soup to eat because [Y/N] doesn’t want to eat anything that’s liquefied or pureed,” Zhongli commented.
“Perfect! I can make my specialty soup for [Y/N] to eat!” Childe says simply.
“Childe, [Y/N] cannot eat normal food until her jaws heal.” Zhongli nudges Childe with his elbow. Childe sighs dramatically.
“Alright, boring soup broth it is!” Childe jokes, earning a glare from Zhongli.
While Zhongli head back to Liyue Harbor to order you something to eat, Childe reads through your response on the notepad. Childe’s eyebrow furrow more and more as he continues to read on. Not only were you outnumbered by the skirmishers, but it seems like you were also targeted. Whoever assigned these skirmishers to go out and harm you, Childe will seek them out and torture them all.
“You know what I just realized?” Childe mutters; you look at him curiously.
“Your boyfriend never made an appearance to visit you. Nor did I see him with you when you were injured.” Childe says; your heart drops in your chest. Right. You forgot about Xiao for a second. You grabbed the notepad from Childe’s hand before writing your answer down on it.
“Xiao and I got into an argument. I wanted him to accompany me on my commission, but he declined it. He told me he was going to be helping Aether and Lumine with their commissions instead.” Childe’s eyebrow shot to his hairline at your response.
Tears pool around your eyes. “When I was injured, before I left the commission area, I called out to him for help. But he never came. I called for him twice, and he never showed up. I tried screaming his name out into the open until my throat became raw, but he still didn’t show up.”
“That fucking bastard! I’m going to kill him!” Childe howls with anger; you grabbed his arm and shook your head frantically. You gave him a pleading look and tugged him towards you.
“Please don’t hurt him.” Childe sighs in defeat and plops down on the chair right beside you.
“Alright, I won’t kill him. But I will hurt him with my words.” Childe comments. You give Childe a look; he chuckles and wraps his arms around you. “I’m just glad that you’re okay. If you were to die, I would kill anyone who stands in my way.” Childe murmurs, gently rubbing your back with his thumb.
About thirty minutes later, Zhongli returns with a bowl of soup in his hands, with Baizhu accompanying him. Baizhu unwraps the bandage around your lower face and gently parted your lips to examine the wires.
“Good! The wires are still attached; nothing is out of place!” Baizhu nods his head happily.
You waited for one of them to place a tray on your lap so you could eat, but instead, Zhongli held up the spoon against your lips. You stared at the spoon, then back at Zhongli. Childe and Zhongli stare back at you, waiting for you to take a sip of the broth. You let out a sigh of defeat and took a sip of the broth. You hummed at the taste.
“That’s my girl.” Childe coos, gently patting your head. Zhongli continued to feed you soup while Childe stood off to the side, deep in his thoughts. Once you are able to finish the soup, Zhongli gently wipes your mouth with the cloth napkin. You poked Zhongli and pointed down at the notepad.
“Did you see Xiao while on your way here?” Zhongli frowns and shakes his head.
“I did not see him on my way here. Do you want to see him by any chance?” Zhongli asks softly; you nod your head. Childe frowns.
“X-Xia…” You winced, gently cupping your jaw with your hand. “Xia—” “Don’t strain yourself, [Y/N]! Remember, you’re still recovering.” Childe interrupts you; you sighed in defeat.
“You should give your voice a rest,” Zhongli says gently, handing you a cup of water and held the straw up to your lips. An idea suddenly pops up in Childe’s mind.
“I just realized that I have some Fatui business to handle,” Childe spoke up, sighing dramatically.
“Oh? What kind of Fatui business?” Zhongli asks, raising his eyebrows at Childe. Childe ignores the look that Zhongli gave him.
“Paperwork at the Northland Bank along with dealing with rookies. The usual.” Childe shrugs his shoulders. “I completely forgot about it because something came up, but now I have to catch up on my work, or else they’ll pile up.” Childe rolled his eyes and shook his head. “I’ll be back soon, alright?” Childe says, walking towards the door. Before you or Zhongli can reply, Childe disappeared out the door.
Childe stares up at the building as he approaches closer and closer to it. Wangshu Inn. So this is where you usually stay, all for an adepti that gives absolutely zero shits about you. Rolling his eyes, he continues to walk towards Wangshu Inn. Maybe after this visit, you and Xiao will finally break up. Childe disapproves of Xiao, not because Xiao was an adepti, but because Xiao lacks the things that you need in a partner. Someone who cares about you, someone who is willing to spend some time with you, will go on commissions with you, who isn’t afraid of their emotions. Childe would much rather have you date Zhongli than an emotionless adepti who constantly puts you through emotional stress.
Once Childe gets close to Wangshu Inn, Childe immediately sees Xiao with Aether and Lumine. They were sitting at one of the wooden tables, laughing and talking with one another. Blissfully ignorant of your situation. Anger bubbles up deep inside of Childe. Seeing Xiao brush Lumine’s hair from her face. Lumine blushes and looks at Xiao shyly; Aether rolls his eyes dramatically while stuffing his face with Adeptus’ Temptation. Just a mere sight of Xiao showing Lumine slight affection made Childe see red. Like a bull in a China shop, Childe approaches the three, grabs onto Xiao’s shoulder, and yanks him up from his seat.
“Childe!? What are you doing?!” Lumine exclaims.
“How can you be so content?” Childe asks, shoving Xiao. Xiao glares at Childe and crosses his arms.
“What are you talking about, Harbinger?” Xiao scoffs.
“Where’s your girlfriend? Last time I checked, she’s not Lumine.” Childe hisses, glaring over at the blonde girl. Lumine winces at the look Childe gave her.
“Childe, what’s wrong?” Aether asks, getting between Childe and Xiao. Childe was angry; he was so mad that he wanted to kill someone.
“How could you be so blissfully ignorant? How could you ignore your own girlfriend calling out to you?” Childe demands. His face was turning red with anger. “She invited you to accompany her on her commissions, but you chose Aether and Lumine over your girlfriend?!” Childe seethes.
“Aether and Lumine are capable of completing their commissions on their own! They’ve saved Teyvat on their own before. They do not need any help at all! Especially when they’re doing the commissions together!” Aether and Lumine frowned, glancing over at one another. “Your girlfriend, on the other hand, is different. Not too long ago, she got her vision and is still wary about her skills, so she asked you, her boyfriend, to accompany her on her commission. And what happens? You rejected her offer and chose someone else over her.” Childe laughs sarcastically and shakes his head in disbelief.
“Is that true, Xiao?” Lumine asks, crossing her arms over her chest. Xiao doesn’t respond; instead, he never takes his eyes off of Childe.
“Sometimes, I wonder what she ever saw in you. Clearly, you don’t love her at all, nor do you care about her and her safety.” Xiao was taken aback.
“Who said that I didn’t care about her or her safety?” Xiao scoffs, glaring at the Harbinger in front of him.
“[Y/N] has called out for you how many times?” Childe asks, cocking his eyebrow at Xiao. “And what did you do? You ignored her calls and her cries. You never showed up whenever she called your name, and she suffered the consequences of dating someone like you.” Childe snarls.
“Suffered the consequences? What are you saying, Childe?” Aether asks.
“After completing her last commission for the day, [Y/N] was attacked by the Fatui skirmishers. They outnumbered her. Of course, she cannot hold on her own due to being a new vision holder. In the end, she suffered major injuries that could’ve killed her.” Childe crossed his arms over his chest, watching Xiao closely.
“Broken arm, broken leg, a cracked skull, four broken ribs, a broken jaw.” Childe slowly approaches Xiao. There wasn’t a single emotion present on Childe’s face. His eyes were devoid of emotions. It was cold and dark.
“Oh, I forgot to mention. [Y/N] has lost sight in her left eye.” Childe adds; Xiao’s heart drops in his chest, his eyes widening in fear. “She will no longer be able to see with that eye. Doctor Baizhu will be giving her the option of whether she wants to keep it or remove it completely. But that doesn’t matter, does it?” Childe raises his eyebrow.
“If you were there, [Y/N] wouldn’t be in this position. If you have never chosen Lumine and Aether over her, [Y/N] wouldn’t be suffering the consequences. If you hadn’t met [Y/N], [Y/N] would’ve lived a happy life instead of suffering emotionally.” Lumine pushes Childe away from Xiao with a glare.
“That’s enough, Childe!” Lumine hissed.
“Oh, I’m not done!” Childe chuckles darkly, pushing Lumine to the side. “Remember how I said that she called your name, and you never responded? She even screamed your name until her throat became raw, and she choked on her blood and saliva. And guess what? You never showed up!” Childe begins to laugh hysterically.
“All of her sufferings are linked right back to you. It’s all because of you. Because of you, [Y/N] has undergone extensive surgery to survive. Because of you, [Y/N] lost her eyesight in her left eye. Do you really think that your karmic debt is bad? A human girl almost succumbed to her injuries because of the idiotic adepti that she calls her boyfriend.” Xiao looked like he saw a ghost; the color was drained from his face, his eyes were wide with fear and sorrow.
“Where is she?” Xiao demands.
“And why should I tell you? You don’t deserve to be with her at her darkest moments.” Childe huffs, crossing his arms over his chest. “You couldn’t even be with her at her brightest days, so why should I let you be with her at one of her darkest and most painful days?” Childe asks in a condescending tone.
“I need to see her,” Xiao growls; Childe giggles and rolls his eyes at Xiao. He walks over to the wooden table and sits down.
“Oh? So now you want to see her? Weren’t you just avoiding her a while ago while getting intimate with another girl?” Childe questions, propping his foot on the wooden chair beside him.
“Just tell me where she is!” Xiao scowls; Xiao had the tip of his polearm pointing at Childe’s neck. Childe smirks and glances down at the polearm, then back up at Xiao’s face. Xiao was heaving, his pupils dilated and trembling. Childe smacked the polearm to the side and stood up from his seat.
“No, I’m not going to tell you where she is! She’s in safe hands right now with Mister Zhongli. You know, maybe while he takes care of her, they’ll start developing feelings for one another and end up together.” Childe smirks at Xiao.
With a frustrated growl, Xiao disappears in a puff of black, green, and white mist. Aether and Lumine stare at Childe in disbelief while he shrugs his shoulders innocently. A smug grin appears on his face; he sighs in contentment.
“Today’s a lovely day, wouldn’t you say?” He hums happily. “Well, time to go pay [Y/N] a visit.” Childe walks off, leaving the twins behind to watch him in shock.
You didn’t know how long you’d been stuck at Bubu Pharmacy. How many days have gone by? Regardless of you being stuck at Bubu Pharmacy, Zhongli kept you company the entire time. Sometimes Childe will pop by to check up on you; he seemed much more chipper than usual. It was almost unsettling. Still, you haven’t seen Xiao. Much to your disappointment.
“Are you sure you’re not hungry?” Zhongli asks; you nod your head. Even though you said yes, your stomach had other plans. Your stomach began to grumble; you felt your face heat up at the sound. Zhongli raises his eyebrow at you, a faint smirk appearing on his face. You pulled the blanket up to your face— only for your hand to slip, making you accidentally punch yourself in the jaw. You let out a loud whine and clutched your face with your non-injured hand.
“Oh! Are you alright?” Zhongli asks; he gently caresses your face in his hands and gazes into your eye worriedly. You whimpered and shook your head, feeling your eye water at the sharp pain.
“Do you want me to go get Doctor Baizhu for any medication?” Zhongli asks, wiping away a stray tear that made its way down your cheek. You shook your head and grabbed onto his wrist.
“Please stay, please don’t leave me.” You mumbled, wincing at the pain.
“I’ll stay, but please don’t hurt yourself,” Zhongli reassures you, cupping your face in his hands. You sighed in relief and let yourself relax in his hands. The silence between you and Zhongli was interrupted by something crashing. Both you and Zhongli jumped at the sound and looked over towards where the sound came from. There stood Xiao, looking at you and Zhongli like a deer caught in headlights.
“Xiao.” You whispered, tears pooling around your eyes.
Xiao doesn’t say anything; instead, he examines you in horror. Childe wasn’t kidding when he said that you were injured. You’re awfully injured because of him. You cried out to him, and he never showed up, all because he was too stubborn. Yes, he heard your cries. Your anguish and desperate cries did not go unheard, but he did ignore them in the end. The results of Xiao ignoring your desperate cries ended up with a tragic outcome. You being horribly injured resulted in you losing your eye and breaking many bones.
Xiao felt his heart drop into his chest the minute he walked in on you and Zhongli being so close to one another. The way Zhongli stares at you with such love and care while you begged him to stay with you and not leave you behind. Was this what heartbreak feels like? Watching the one you love possibly fall in love with someone else hurts. Did you even love him anymore? Were you falling for Zhongli? Was that Harbinger right all along?
“Oh, Xiao! Your visit was unexpected.” Zhongli says casually, removing his hands from your face.
Xiao swallows the lump in his throat and lets out a grunt as a response. You looked away from Xiao and stared at your lap. How are you going to face him? You’ve cried out to Xiao when you were so close to meeting your maker, but he never showed up. You didn’t know how long you’d been bedridden at Bubu Pharmacy, but you know that this was the first time Xiao has ever visited you. Granted, you could have called out to him, but the question is: would he show up if you call out his name? Or will he continue to ignore you and spend time with the twins?
“I’ll give you two some privacy,” Zhongli says, giving your hand a light squeeze before walking out of the room.
After Zhongli has left the room, the tension between you and Xiao shoots through the roof. Xiao walks over to your bed and sits down beside you; his eyes remain glued to the ground. You fiddled with the pen in your hand and gazed down at the notepad in your lap; your heart was racing against your chest. Archons, you wished that Zhongli didn’t leave you and Xiao alone.
“How’ve you been?” Xiao asks, breaking the silence between the both of you.
You uncapped the pen and began writing down your answer to Xiao’s question onto the notepad in your lap. You gently poked his arm and handed him the notepad.
“I’ve been okay. Everything still hurts, but the pain is dull. Thanks to Doctor Baizhu and the doctors from Fontaine and Sumeru, they fixed me up well! :)” Xiao frowns and sighs softly.
“You still got hurt,” Xiao mutters softly, looking up at you. You grabbed the notebook from his hand and let out a soft exhale through your nose.
“If I hadn’t rejected your offer of going to the commission with you, this wouldn’t have happened. You wouldn’t have gotten hurt and lost one of your eyesight.” Xiao stood up suddenly, startling you.
“It’s too late, already. What’s done is done.” You held up the notepad, frowning deeply. Your heart was beginning to ache in your chest once again.
“Be honest with me. Do you or do you not have any feelings for Zhongli?” You stared at Xiao in shock, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Why was he getting upset with you all of a sudden? And why did he need to bring up Zhongli into this conversation?
You started scribbling down onto the notepad rapidly and held it up, “Why don’t you answer my question first? Did you not have feelings for Lumine? You spend time with her more than you spend time with me. Childe told me how close he saw you were with Lumine. He told me that you guys have hearts in your eyes whenever you look at each other and how you showed her little affection, brushing her hair away from her face and looking at her with such fondness in your eyes. You never showed me any affection.” Tears blurred your vision.
“You would rather spend time with Lumine and Aether than your girlfriend. You see them way more than you see me. I called out to you so many times, but you never showed up.” Tears rolled down your cheeks, and you began sniffling.
“If Lumine or Aether were to call your name, you’d go to them in a heartbeat, but you never showed up when I called your name while I was close to dying.” A strained whimper escaped your lips; your body shook with strained cries.
“You would rather go on commissions with the two strongest people in Teyvat, but not with your girlfriend who has received her vision not long ago.” You wiped your tears with the back of your hand as tiny tear droplets fell onto the notepad, dampening it. Out of frustration, you threw the pen and notepad across the room and began to rip and tear wires that were attached to your body. Xiao’s eyes widen with panic. You threw your legs over the bed and stood up; Xiao appeared beside you in a split second, gently pushing you back down on the bed.
“[Y/N]! Don’t do that! You’re going to hurt yourself!” Xiao exclaims, his heart racing against his chest.
“All Zhongli and Childe did was care for me while you’re absent from all of it. Why bring them into this, huh?” You cried, struggling to push Xiao away from you. Your jaws weren’t close to healing, and yet you’re forcing yourself to speak. Oh, Baizhu will not be happy about this at all.
“You never cared about me! You never did! All you care about is Lumine and Aether!” You hiccuped, tears continuously rolled down your cheeks. “Why are you even dating me if you never cared about me? You could’ve been dating Lumine or Aether instead, but why did you choose me? Is it out of pity, or was it just some sick game this entire time?” You wailed; your throat hurts so much from the amount of crying you’ve been doing.
“I do care about you!” Xiao pleads, putting his hands on your shoulder and looks at you in the eye.
“If you did care about me, then why did you ignore my cries? You left me to die! The Fatui skirmishers could’ve finished me off, and you still wouldn’t care until it’s too late!” You screamed; sharp pain shot through your jaws, you let out a shrill cry and whimper. You clutched onto your jaws with your hand, body shaking with pain and sobs.
Baizhu, Zhongli, and Childe rushed into the room. Childe locked his gaze onto Xiao and narrowed his eyes at the yaksha. Baizhu and Zhongli rushed to your side, pushing Xiao out of the way within the process. Baizhu reattaches the wires back onto you while Zhongli tries to calm you down; Childe and Xiao are glaring at one another. Aside from Baizhu scolding you, your soft whimpers was the only thing Childe and Xiao could hear.
“Xiao,” Zhongli says; Xiao and Childe look over at the ex archon. Zhongli looks very upset; his arms wrapped around you while your head rested against his chest. “I think it’s best for you to leave.” Zhongli states.
Xiao shakes his head, “No, I’m not leaving her. Not again.” His eyes darted in your direction. Your eye was shut; tears stained your cheeks; your uninjured arm was wrapped around Zhongli’s waist.
“Come one, little guy. You hear the man; you should leave.” Childe says in a mocking tone; Xiao shoots a glare in Childe’s direction.
“As I’ve said before, I’m not leaving her side.” Xiao scowls.
Childe shrugs his shoulders and begins to crack his knuckles. “Alright, it seems like we’ll have to remove you by using force.” Childe chuckles darkly before reaching out towards Xiao. Xiao points his polearm at Childe’s neck, glaring daggers at the tall ginger.
“No! Childe! Don’t do anythi—” You were cut off with a sharp pain in your chest, causing you to hunch forward in Zhongli’s arms, coughing. Blood started spewing out of your mouth, staining your lips and your face.
“[Y/N]!” Immediately, Xiao and Childe are right beside Zhongli, attempting to check up on you. Xiao, Zhongli, and Childe’s eyes widen in fear and worry.
“Oh, archons, are you okay?!” Childe asks frantically.
“Everyone, please leave the room this instant,” Baizhu says, ushering Zhongli, Xiao, and Childe out of the room as the doctors from Sumeru and Fontaine enter the room. Childe, Xiao, and Zhongli began to protest, but Baizhu brushed their protests off before closing the door in their face.
The voices of Baizhu and the doctors from Sumeru and Fontaine were muffled behind closed doors. Childe glares at Xiao, clenching his jaws tightly. His fist clenched so tightly that his knuckles were turning white. Childe starts to charge at Xiao, but Zhongli holds him back and shakes his head.
“Childe, don’t start anything,” Zhongli demands, glaring at the Harbinger. Childe scowls and yanks his arm from Zhongli’s grasp; Childe walks over to the wall near the door and presses his back against it with a frustrated sigh.
“One minute, Zhongli! You could’ve given me just one minute to end [Y/N]’s useless boyfriend!” Childe scowls, Xiao growls, holding onto his polearm so tightly that it felt like it would break under his grasp.
“[Y/N] would not approve of any violence, and neither would I,” Zhongli says, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I don’t understand why he would suddenly visit [Y/N] after leaving her to die.” Childe huffs. “He seems much happier with Lumine than he does with his girlfriend,” Childe mutters, shaking his head with disapproval.
“Is that true, Xiao?” Zhongli asks, giving Xiao the look of disapproval. Xiao doesn’t respond; instead, he just stares at the ground.
“See? Like I said, [Y/N] deserves someone who genuinely loves and cares about her.” Childe grumbles, rolling his eyes. Childe leans his head against the wall and lets out a frustrated huff.
“I do love and care about her, you idiot.” Xiao hissed. Childe snorts at Xiao’s comment, not believing a single thing he says.
“Yeah, sure, okay.” Childe snickers.
“Enough, Childe.” Zhongli sighs.
“You know who’s the first person to pop into my head when thinking about someone that would love and care about [Y/N] more than Xiao?” Childe asks, tapping his chin with his index finger as he pretends to be in deep thought. “Oh! It’s Zhongli.” Childe comments; Xiao’s head shot up and looks over at Zhongli. “After all, he was the one that cares about [Y/N]’s safety. He was so close to killing me when he saw that I was covered in her blood; he stayed with her the entire time when I was busy. Zhongli is the perfect companion for [Y/N].” A smug smile appears on Childe’s face when he sees a flash of hurt and jealousy in Xiao’s eyes.
“While I do appreciate the praises, Childe, but I simply do not see [Y/N] that way. I see her more as a close friend than a lover.” Zhongli sighs softly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Oh, come on, Zhongli!” Childe huffs. “We all saw how you looked at her! Plus, you never ask for days off of work when I was injured.”
Zhongli deadpans. “Your injuries weren’t fatal or life-threatening. [Y/N] clearly cannot be left alone and needs assistance; I will gladly help her whenever she needs any help.”
“So if she were to ask you to assist her on her commissions, would you help her?” Childe asks, shooting a quick look over at Xiao from the corner of his eyes.
Zhongli nods his head in response, “Of course! If she needs any sort of assistance, I will not deny her request.” He crosses his arms over his chest. Childe claps loudly with a smirk on his face, shaking his head with a slight chuckle.
“You see, Zhongli. Even if you only see her as a friend, you’re still willing to help her out regardless. Unlike her deadbeat boyfriend over here who chose to help two of the strongest people in Teyvat with their commissions over his girlfriend.” Childe sneers.
The bickering continued for the next forty minutes; poor Zhongli had to be stuck in the middle of the entire thing, ensuring that Childe and Xiao didn’t kill one another. Childe was able to leave a small cut on Xiao’s cheek with his hydro polearm while Xiao managed to cut a long thin slice on Childe’s chin. Zhongli was so close to hitting the two of them until the doctor from Sumeru opened the door, gasping at the sight in front of him.
Examining the three men in front of him, he says, “I believe you three are waiting for Ms. [Y/N].” Zhongli, Xiao, and Childe nod their heads in response.
“[Y/N] is currently resting right now, but you three are welcome to visit her.” The doctor from Fontaine says, adjusting the blue tie around his neck.
“Please, do not fight or put [Y/N] in any sort of distress. Her body needs to be able to heal, and if she’s in constant emotional distress, it’ll take a long time for her to recover fully.” Baizhu says, frowning at Xiao and Childe.
Both Childe and Xiao rolled their eyes; Zhongli gave Baizhu and the doctors from Sumeru and Fontaine a polite smile before entering the room with Childe and Xiao following behind. Like before, the minute the doors close behind the trio, tension shot through the roof. You were unconscious, once again. Only this time, it seems like they’ve restrained you on the bed. They were perhaps preventing you from ripping out the wires that were attached to your body and hurting yourself.
Zhongli was holding onto your delicate hand, a frown adorning his face. Childe stood at the end of the bed, afraid of looking up because he knew that he would hurt Xiao if he were to see the current state you’re in. Xiao stood beside Zhongli, staring down at your unconscious body. Despite Zhongli claiming that he didn’t harbor any feelings for you, Xiao has an inkling feeling that Zhongli was lying. Especially with how Zhongli was looking down at you, how his large hands gently held your much smaller hand in his. Alarms were going off in Xiao’s head, and as much as he wanted to disappear in a puff of smoke, he didn’t want to leave. He didn’t want to let you down once again, nor did he want to leave you alone with Zhongli.
