I messed around with the colors and some blur effects to kinda make it seem more “vintage,” like it’s a screenshot ripped straight from some 90s hockey cartoon that you can only find on VHS. I think it turned out pretty neat! Except now I wish that hockey cartoon was real… 😖

Rene Robert, a Buffalo Sabres legend, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 72. Acquired by the Sabres in 1972, he made up 1/3 of the famous French Connection line alongside fellow Quebecers Gilbert Perreault and Richard Martin. All three of these players are incredibly beloved by Sabres fans of all ages and have been honored with a statue outside of the arena as well as a collection of banners featuring their numbers, which have been retired by the club.

Since I love to draw, I thought I’d honor his memory by making some art of him and sharing it with the hockey community here on tumblr. Robert has done so much for the Sabres and the city of Buffalo over the years that it’s only fair I do something for him.
