The Digital Divide, is it good or bad?
The digital divide is the separation between people who have a great amount of access to the internet verses people who have little to no access. Obviously the internet has taken great stride over the late years making it incredibly easy to gather information, as well as communicate with multiple people at the same time. But, is this convenience we have available to us worth it? I would say it depends. Like most things, they are good in moderation. Some people have become so consumed with being online such as blogging, creating YouTube videos, updating statuses or just surfing the internet, which I believe can cause them to lose touch with reality, not only that, but not know how to communicate with humans in a personal manner. The benefit of not using, or in moderation, use of the internet is having good and meaningful human connections. Also today’s youth has almost unlimited access to the internet through their cell phones. This is causing the end of conversation with the families during dinner time, as well as any other family function. Also it is causing the younger generation to learn their social skills from Face Book, rather from their parents and people involved in their lives. But like I said in the beginning not much is bad in moderation, it’s all about finding a good balance between social media and human interaction. #sassclass
