Your question makes sense!

The answer is no, though. The recompete at NYCDA just replaces your original solo score and the remaining 70% of your scores (60% of which is audition scores) remain in place.

This is very different from TDA where once you make Top 3, everyone is starting at 0 and the BD winner is chosen by the recompete ranking.

Essentially, at TDA, your audition score just has to get you to Top 10 but at NYCDA, your ballet/jazz audition score and then special ballet and special jazz/tap/contemporary scores stick with you the entire way.

In this way, if you have weak audition scores at NYCDA, your recompete cannot save you, the way it could at TDA.
