Not always ready for the paparazzi there, Buffy!
Our first walk!
Buffy’s Gotcha Day
I don’t know a lot about Buffy’s background. I know her birthday is June -, 2011. I know that she was surrendered by her owner sometime in 2015 along with another dog, and that she ended up with a corgi breed rescue.
I know that she was, to quote her foster mom, “fat, sick, and seemed depressed.” In fact, she had double pneumonia and they couldn’t figure out what had caused the pneumonia. I know they weren’t sure if she would make it, and that she had no appetite (a truly astonishing thought). (She was losing weight but still chubby here):
I know that her name was Muffin- “Muffy” for short. (I didn’t care for that at all, and am a big “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fan, so it was a pretty simple change.)
She might have had puppies! Her chest is broad relative to her size, and her foster mom said her ribcage might have expanded to accommodate puppies. But there’s no caesarean scar, and no way to ever know (and she’s spayed now). (Her foster mom’s snuggly lap corgi is pretty cute in the background, too):
I’ve known Buffy’s foster mom (a responsible corgi breeder who also has a dog boarding business) for probably 20 years. She knew I was interested in adopting an adult dog. So, while I was home for Thanksgiving, I went to meet Buffy. She was on the mend and slowly losing the extra pounds (the rescue won’t adopt dogs out until they’re a healthy weight). I loved this judgy little potato on site and got my apartment ready to welcome her.
At the end of my Christmas vacation, I picked Buffy up from her foster mom’s house; the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Meet Buffy
I got Buffy in December 2015. She was (then) a 4.5 year old corgi. I take about a million pics of her every day. I never get tired of them, and thought the internet might enjoy them too.
Now, there’s already a tumblr called “Buffy the corgi.” It looks like it’s for a brindle cardigan corgi. I don’t want to step on any toes (corgi toes are the best toes)
So I want to be clear that this is a different Buffy the corgi. Mine is a red Pembroke girl. Buffy has made the occasional appearance on my other tumblr, but I’ve tried to exercise some restraint there. No more!
I hope her silly ways bring a smile to your face. It certainly does to mine.
