Ba-ba-ba-ba Banana slug!
Giant water bug enjoying the pool.
A mushroom assortment from a fall walk into the woods.
My good luck plant on the window sil. She brings me joy.
Look who I found: Proserpinus lucidus - Pacific Green Sphinx Moth - Adults fly in one generation in winter, from December to April, during which they do not eat. They are attracted to lights, but normally females will remain stationary and emit a pheromone to attract males. Recognizable by the cute little wing hearts. And fuzzy green.
Butterfly in the garden
Some desert bugsies from Anza Borrego during this years bloom.
The humble fly.
Bugs. In the #anzaborrego desert bloom this weekend, tons of these 3" long bugs were just eating flowers and mating and buzzing all around us. They looked like giant ants. Giant scary ants. I said,“the color red is usually a warning.” And lo’ and behold these are Blister Beetles. Lytta magister -rage beetle. Squish em and you get a nice blister inducing chemical on your skin. Glad we didn’t mess with these guys. #beetle #blisterbeetle #anzaborrego

The macro club project (Fungi - Mushrooms)
Ahhhh the wonderful cat tongue mushroom (pseudohydnum gelatinosum) as I now know! I read that these are edible and can be candied. But I just like to touch them and then leave em be. This year there was a lot more of them in the same area.
Shroomin' at my grandads house again this year! A beautiful array of fungus but no morels :(
This lil shy guy is only about 5mm. A couple posts ago I talked about a jumping spider family I was watching and I would update my boyfriend on the spider family's lives every night. He recently told me that his feelings towards spiders being creepy little evil things have changed since that week and that he now has an appreciation of spider lives that he didn't have before. But he is still afraid of them and so he just won't callously smash them anymore. Hooray! One more human pledges kindness to the little tiny lives around us.
Some macro photos of the day.
Shroomin' in the backyard with a fisheye.
This little beauty has been through some stuff. A jagged little wing on the right. Still it is wonderful to see butterflies in October.
Check out this earthball erupting near my lily. It looks like a rock.
