Ok so I cannot take full credit for this as it was due to @pamshindouu's post talking about Kyo and Murasamemon's splash screen as well as back and forth discussions with @f-liner that have made me realise this theory might just be somewhat plausible.
So, we learn in episode 7 for the first time about our group of antagonists who are featured in the opening.
Known as Five Stars, they're consider amongst the top cleaners of all time, going so far to even be granted special protection with the ministry.
They clearly work individually, and are extremely power as they pretty much clean sweep a whole massive list of high ranking bounties as a means to crack down on the recent crime wave.
And considering we see a familiar digimon in their group, it's safe to say that all of them are at Ultimate/Perfect level of ranking. This also basically confirms why Makoto wasn't able to get a read on Gokuwumon, its because his info was protected by the ministry.
Honestly i'm going off topic but episode 7 did bring up a bunch of implications especially when you realise that Asuka's e-pulse is now in the hands of one of the members of Five Star, "Gold" to be precise.
Before you ask, no. I am not okay. This is going to continue to be on my mind until we see the fuckers in the flesh and we can see what bullshit they're plotting.
Anyway.
Kyo and Murasamemon's picture for the ad break!
We learn in episode 7 that Kyo's e-pulse colour is yellow. Not blue like we've been expecting of him considering his design has been mostly blue.
Murasamemon however, why is he white? Normally digimon in these shots tend to be the same colour as their respective tamer. To signify their connection to eachother.
Is this proof that Murasamemon/Cougermon was not originally partnered with Kyo? While this might seem to be the case I want to suggest something else.
What if there is a good reason we haven't seen Cougermon evolve yet, because Cougermon's sapotama is uniquely different? What if it ISN'T a sapotama that Cougermon has.
What if it's something like this?
While this has yet to be confirmed, we can see that the symbols that make up a star all have a nucleus, like an egg would. While this could represent their position and signify who they are, what if this instead was actually some sort of unique Sapotama like device?
Or even better....What if this is a device that allows them to digivolve their champion digimon, to the ultimates they fight with?
I say this because, the colours that represent "Gold" in the Five stars
Are both yellow and white.
So let's get our facts straight.
The members of Five Star are said to use aliases related to their element, so we don't know their true names.
Kyo is considered a cleaner of the highest ranking and considered powerful enough for his digimon to advance to Ultimate in battles.
And do not forget that Murasamemon CLASHED with Gokuwumon in the 2nd episode and stood his ground so it seems like they could be considered of equal ranking.
Kyo has a unique e-pulse that seems to reflect Murasamemon in white instead of yellow, just like the crystal that represents Gold.
We have yet to see Cougermon digivolve into Murasamemon on screen yet and we are yet to see what Kyo's sapotama is.
So with these facts pointed out.
What if Kyo, was a former member of Five stars but instead of there being six members like we might think, He was instead the original "Gold" and despite leaving,
And what if this "Gold" is the one who replaced him when he left, which is why Gokuwumon seems to know him, hate him even, but Kyo has never met them, even if they supposedly were in the same group.
And while I hate to bring this up, but its also....pretty relevant. Do keep in mind that before the name update and right before the series release, Glowing dawn was meant to be called GOLDEN Dawn.
While it seems pretty on the nose, at the same time, Kyo did create this group as a means of freedom. To do whatever he wished for his team and for his team to do the same. Except for one rule.
I don't even have to say it considering the amount of data deleted in this just demonstrates how powerful they are, and possibly how brutal they are. If Kyo was part of them then I can understand why he feels guilty and so focused on giving digimon a second chance.
So yeah, thats my theory.
Kyo was once part of "Five Star" and was known as the previous "Gold". That's why his e-pulse is yellow and not blue like we imagined and why him and Murasamemon both have different colours in the splash sheet.
They are the colours of the "Gold" crystal. Yellow and White.
And ofc, when he left, or even just ran from them and made "Glowing/Golden Dawn". They bought on someone to replace the gap in their group. The new "Gold", who we see in the opening.
That same "Gold" who has sent his Gokuwumon to delete a rookie digimon and snatch up a sapotama containing the e-pulse of someone that we KNOW for sure that Kyo knew.
The plot thickens...
