3:07 am — “okay, i know how this may look but i swear it's not—”
you huff before pinching the bridge of your nose, “wooyoung, if you don't have a good reason as to why you're climbing through my window at—”, you glance at the digital clock on your nightstand, “— three in the morning, i will push you right back out of it.”
wooyoung, your neighbor of a few months, is staring at you offended with his upper half of his body and right leg through your window. he shimmies the rest of the way through and crosses the threshold of your bedroom to stand near the door.
“like i said, it's not for any reason that you think! okay listen, i tried knocking on your front door— i really did, but you didn't answer! and since i never see you come out of your apartment anyway, i thought you might've been dead or something!” wooyoung's voice was high pitched and he spoke rapidly, tripping over his words a bit.
you give him a flat look, “that still doesn't explain why you were in my window.”
“well it wasn't my first choice, it was my last resort! when you didn't answer the door i went to my balcony to see if any lights were on and they weren't so i started panicking, thinking ‘maybe they're dead’, so i went all the way outside to the fire escape to try to look through your window to see if you were there— and seriously? who sleeps all the way under the blankets with pillows over their head?— anyway, i didn't see you so i was climbing through to check if maybe your dead body was somewhere else in here.”
once he finished you sat on your bed and rubbed your eyes tiredly. you can already tell this is going to be a long night.
“i'm going to ignore the fact that your first thought was that i was dead to ask why you even needed me in the first place?”
at that he rolled his eyes, putting a hand on his hip, “well.. i didn't necessarily need you, i needed a few things from you."
rolling your eyes back at him, you copy his stance, “and what is it that you just absolutely needed from me so bad that it couldn't wait till morning?”
“sugar, eggs, milk, butter, chocolate chips and cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and a baking sheet.” he replied easily as if he'd been rehearsing that list repeatedly.
bewilderment is laced in your tone, “so you broke into my apartment at three in the morning to go grocery shopping in my pantry?”
wooyoung has the audacity to look at you as if you wronged him instead of it being the other way around.
“i didn't break in! i was simply just making sure you weren't decomposing with maggots and roaches feeding off of you.”
you sigh, this really wasn't how you were planning on spending your friday night.
“i still don't see why you couldn't have just gone to a twenty-four hour market.”
a gasp echos through the small, dimly lit room, “you expect me, a handsome, undeniably hot, sexy, young man to walk the dangerous streets of seoul at night alone? and risk the possibility of getting kidnapped?!” a hand is covering wooyoung's heart as if it's been stabbed by your words.
wow, this guy is certainly a character.
“you're not going to get kidnapped,” you roll your eyes at his disgustingly offended expression, “what do you need all that stuff for anyway?”
five heads. the man that broke into your apartment at three in the morning because he thought your dead body was rotting away somewhere in it, is looking at you as if you have five heads.
“i wanted to bake brownies, duh.”
“i have a fantastic idea, how about you— and hear me out on this one!— go to the store, buy all those things, and bake your brownies, while i go back to sleep. how's that sound?” you explain, sarcasm bleeding through your words as you use a voice that'd typically be used when speaking to a child.
“i'm not getting kidnapped.”
an exasperated sigh slips past your lips as you put on your slippers and the random jacket draped across your desk chair, “how about i go with you so you won't get kidnapped? will that make you leave me alone so i can sleep?”
a mischievous smile curls wooyoung's lips.
this is going to be a long night.
