In relation to permanence, a constant state, certainty.
To address this there are two points.
1. There is nothing other than Heaven. Which is eternal.
That is permanent, constant, certain.
2. To involve perception at all removes any certainty or permanence. For perception, by its own limits, is uncertain and changing. You cannot perceive that which is unlimited from a view point that is limited.
In this way, certainty and permanence are complete.
But there is no permanent state of perceiving that.
Perception is an interpretation of Heaven, often thought to be Hell.
Because of the uncertain, inconsistent nature of perception, it is open to question.
The question mark removes the conviction. It shines light on it being an interpretation. Interpretation is not truth.
Perception is not knowledge.
The confusion of perception is stabilised through this unknowing. Peace is found in the freedom of unknowing because it is as close to certainty as perception can get.
Its not the question that is causing the suffering, it is the conviction. What is the statement? What do you believe to be true?
The question usually looks something like this: "How do i become rich?"
But the statement, the belief, the conviction usually looks something more like this:
"I need to become rich to feel safe."
"I need to become rich to prove myself worthy"
"I need to become rich because the economy is crashing."
"Becoming rich will fix all of my problems."
"I would be happier if i became rich."
It is this hidden conviction that makes it seem as though there is something to do, become or fix.
This is where the "?" begins.
And remember, we are only looking for undeniable truth and certainty here so that if found, we can continue being justified in our suffering.
Is it absolutely true that becoming rich will solve all of my problems? Can i know with complete certainty that being rich will make me feel safe? Do people have to become rich to be worthy?
These statements when left unquestioned, make it seem as though they are true and therefore real.
The gift of the "?" is that clarity is closer than we think.
