How To Archive Your Goatlings Account - 3 Methods
Putting this together on the fly for those who have the resources and/or desire to archive their own accounts before the site goes under - however if you are unable to I am actively archiving accounts of others.
Since the Internet Archive can't access a majority of Goatlings content due to the login wall, this will largely have to be done by hand. These are the three methods I've used (NOTE: I am on Firefox w/ Windows 10, this may not be applicable to everyone):
This is the easiest and most straightforward method. You can simply hit ctrl + s to save any webpage. In Firefox, this defaults to saving as .htm with a folder created to store other files used, such as images, javascript, and css. (If the download fails, you can just hit "retry" and it should work.) As long as you're logged in, it should properly save any content that is login-only.
This method, however, is rather slow. If you're in need of speed, these other solutions will work better:
This is a browser addon that saves webpages as standalone .html files. It directly embeds any necessary css and images into the page, so it will still work properly even after Goatlings shuts down. You can select multiple tabs at once to save them all; simply select all the relevant tabs, right click on the page, and navigate to the addon's actions. It is much faster than saving one page at a time.
However, this addon does not properly preserve dynamic/hidden content, so if your account has multiple goat tabs for example, you'll need to separately save each version of the page with a different tab open. Available on Firefox and Chrome.
This is another browser addon with overall more versatility, as it can be used to mass download all sorts of files including images and webpages. You can also choose which file path it saves to for each batch. Available on Firefox, Chrome, and Edge.
