Tumblr is going to crunch these images to shit but oh well. These are the full images of the Sea of Clouds area that I was commissioned to do in 2018 for the (now newly defunct) petsite Goatlings. It was originally drawn as one giant horizontal painting, though I'm not sure why, since it was only displayed cut up into 5 individual pieces.
I've grown a lot artistically since doing this so it's kind of hard for me to view it without thinking about all the changes I would make if I were to redo it now.
I was on the fence about posting this because I don't want to get involved in any drama. This was the only interaction I ever had with Krisgoat. I think she made a post asking for background artists to contact her and so I approached her, but I can't remember for sure and I can't find the email from the time. She paid me the price I quoted her in full (I was able to find the Paypal confirmation email). Honestly part of the reason I was so shocked to find out how little the site artists were getting paid recently was because I had not encountered any issues getting fair compensation for my work seven years ago.
I also did these drawings of landscapes with Battle Pets but I don't remember why exactly because they are not used on the site. I think to find the kind of vibe for the Sea of Clouds painting?
It's hard not to be bitter about the mismanagement and abuse that has led to the site closing, but part of me is still a little proud to have contributed to a site that has meant a lot to me all these years.
