This portrayal is in no way connected to or written in conjunction with the Grishaverse, including both the Six of Crows duology or Netflix's Shadow and Bone show. Kaz has been removed from the world entirely and rewritten with original lore based on various pieces of media and folklore. There is also some inspiration taken from Erin Morgenstern's The Night Circus. Much of the writing done on this blog will be based in realms of fantasy and will include aspects of the supernatural. Much of this story is intentionally misleading and runs in circles. Kaz Brekker and Dirtyhands are the same creature. Your muse is welcome to question this, to believe them as separate entities, or to dismiss any of the legends entirely. I welcome any and all of it, and in fact encourage questions both IC and OOC. His main arc will always default in the real world, but as imagined with fantasy elements. In this world, much of the stories that involve Dirtyhands are regarded as urban legend. Kaz, when presented as Brekker, appears as simply a man and travels very often for business.
Much of my inspiration for this interpretation comes from various folklore such as stories from the Netherlands and different aspects of corvid legends. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Kaz is DISABLED. As a result, he walks with a limp and a cane. He is often in a great amount of pain, dependent on multiple factors. Kaz is used to ableist language directed at him and doesn't care (in fact, he thrives on people underestimating him for it), but I will not tolerate it. You'll be hardblocked. He also has an extreme case of haphephobia, in which he cannot tolerate touch. It is extremely difficult to get close to him without his permission, but should your muse think to try it, there will likely be consequences. Please keep this in mind.
Kaz is a very violent character. I will not water him down for the sake of a better dynamic or to satisfy egos. I will not woobify him. He can and will lash out. If your muse is mouthing off and being smart, he's bound to cause injury. On the flip side, he's smart. Very much so. And he knows better than to strike someone who is very obviously more powerful than he is. Plotting is great for discussing these kinds of interactions! But if you don't think you (or your muse) can handle his aggression and violence, please refrain from interacting.

the king of the barrel. PRESENT DAY. Generally, Kaz is perceived most often as Brekker. He is a businessman with various dealings both attached to him and linked to a pseudonym. It’s most likely that your muse will encounter them as Brekker. It’s less likely that your muse would come across Dirtyhands, though not entirely improbable especially if your muse is non-human. Meeting him as Dirtyhands is rarely a good thing.
Kaz’s primary interest and goal is collecting information relevant to their partner’s work. Inej is a deified saint and goddess for stolen women and children, and hunts down those who would harm these marginalized groups. Kaz finds, swindles, and drops these abusers off for her to do with as she pleases. He also on occasion has assisted her in relocating those who have been misplaced.
Kaz, as the businessman, is a known thief and conman, an accomplished one at that. He has been hired for work related to these skills many times. This is a great plot idea to build on.
TO NOTE: He is often accompanied by crows. These are transfigured members of his gang, the Dregs. As Kaz, they may present as their human forms; otherwise, there is probably a corvid in the background wherever Brekker is.
Have you heard the tale of the Crow King? The story of the monster who wears many faces and bears many names? Some say he is a demon with claws or talons. Others think him merely legend. A cautionary tale for naughty children who would do well to fear a ghost.
There are many different versions of this story. I could tell you the one where the boy killed his whole family in exchange for riches beyond measure, but in the wake of such tragedy, he was instead cursed to a half-life as a carrion scavenger who would never be satisfied in this mortal realm. Or perhaps you would enjoy the story of the boy who loved magic and mischief and traded his heart for a chance to wield both freely. Of course, nothing comes without a cost and the boy would indeed be full of magic as much as he would be full of hunger.
It would not matter which way we started. All that really matters is that you know this: whatever you hear, it could very well be the truth. But it may sooner be a lie.

Gabriel is from the Empire of the Vampire books, but fuck J.ay K.ristoff. Consider this portrayal inspired by multiple sources of vampire media. The primary world Gabriel exists within assumes the existence of many supernatural elements. Gabe is not generally kind or likeable, nor is he even distinctly approachable; please keep this in mind if interacting and plotting, which is highly encouraged because of his nature.

the world pretends it doesn't know what lies in wait around every dark corner. humans are stupid like that. but no amount of ignorance can keep away the dark and all the things hiding within it. daysdeath happens that way; one moment, everything is as it always was. in the next, there's only the blood. there's only the fear.
daysdeath happens to us all. it's an inevitability, an unpleasant one that shatters any hopes and dreams except the only one that matters: survival. because it's either that or you become one of them. and if you become one of them, it's only a matter of time before you have to turn someone else. and maybe that someone else is your mother or your husband or your friend. hunger doesn't care who they are to you. hunger only cares what they are to you. a fresh meal, a veritable feast, the only thing that matters in the end. if you're lucky, you're too far gone to understand what you're doing. but what does death care for luck?
gabriel was still a boy when daysdeath came for him. when you live in a world where those around you had their daysdeath already, you don't understand their fear. fear, to gabriel, was in the switch to his back when papa is angrier than he usually is. fear, to gabriel, was papa with a bottle of liquor and only his head the target of that breakable glass. fear, to gabriel, was split skin and bleeding lips and doing something wrong. until one day it's impossible that papa was ever the only thing worth fearing.
he watches his sister die on his daysdeath. her cries had dragged him from work even at the risk of papa's fury. the thing attacking her should have reminded him of fear, but all he knew was that same rage that stirred the same in him then as it always had in his papa. it is not simple strength alone that frightens that thing away; his hands are all fire when they rip its face from his sister's throat, leaching it of the black in its veins faster than he can realize what happens. it crumbles in his hands. but it's too late for little celene already dead at his feet.
little lion, his mother called him, knowing exactly what he was from the moment he was born. the hunger only woke in him when that daysdeath finally fell. there was a girl with soft lips and softer thighs, and hunger was the taste of both. it isn't until she's screaming and there's blood pooling in the bed beneath her, pooling in his mouth, that he wakes to the world gone black. her father chases him across town and the town joins him. his mother weeps and weeps and weeps. what is wrong with me? he cries amongst the throng of those who want him killed. and because mother is god, it's mother who both saves and damns him.
she'd sent for the man on the horse all those weeks ago when celene had fallen. little lion, she'd said as that man frightens the crowd enough that they relent their demand for gabriel's head. be brave for me now. it's the only goodbye he's afforded before the man on the horse takes him away. papa doesn't even look at him.
thus, gabriel begins his life in the wake of his daysdeath. he was not just a boy. he was born with that hunger, cursed with it, and was tasked now to use it. far from home, he learned how to destroy those things which destroyed his sister and he learned how to destroy himself piece by piece. trials by blood and trials by death earn him his slaying sword, ashdrinker, and the role of silversaint. soaked in the holy ink of angels and the blood of devils, gabriel was crowned the black lion and kingslayer. and when those monsters triumphed over the brotherhood, he was deemed the last silversaint and retreated into obscurity, leaving humanity to their fate.
NOTES
The Silversaint is a dying breed. Once a flourishing and holy brotherhood called The Silver Order tasked with relieving the world of those bloodlusted creatures of the night, only Gabriel remains in the wake of a cleansing which has destroyed a centuries-old faith that even he can barely hold space for within his chest.
Gabriel may or may not be known to your muse. He has many epithets and his legacy precedes him; if your muse runs in the right circles, they very well could recognize him by his name, his face, or even by the various markers of his reputation such as his tattoos or his sword. I welcome however your muse might react to his presence whether with fear, awe, or disinterest. It's always fun when he's respected; it's even more fun when he's underestimated.
Gabriel is a widower and is still very much in love with his late wife. On top of that, he has also lost his only daughter with her. Astrid and Patience were his everything. Gabriel is vulgar and he will flirt; he might even be open to a tumble in the sheets, but romantic and exclusive sexual relationships are hard to come by. Eris is originally from A.COTAR, but I and my friends have retconned the whole series. eris is the eldest of seven brothers and thus the heir to the faerie court of autumn. the autumn court deals in dark magic, necromancy, and pyromancy among other crafts; though it should be noted that the use of magic is banned for anyone within the court's lands not of the royal family, punishable by death as declared by the high lord. autumn court magic is typical faerie magic where it demands payment for its use; as such, the high lord beron, who uses it constantly, has been growing more and more ill and frail as the centuries pass. the only thing keeping him alive anymore is the magic itself, even as it is killing him.
the vanserra brothers grew up pitted against each other as a means to earn their father's respect and affection and as a result, resentment to the point of violence amongst them was inevitable. abuse at the hands of their father, beron, was rampant; eris did what he could to take most of the punishments during their childhood, but always at the cost of purposefully inflaming his brothers that they would never be at odds with beron for growing close to the eldest son. eris establishes very early on that he will follow in his father's cruel footsteps by forcibly drawing a divide between himself and his younger brothers, all the while fervently protecting them when he can.
eris is especially close to his mother, the lady of autumn, who suffers at the hands of her husband as much as her sons do. she is perhaps the only person alive to know the truth of eris' heart, which he keeps so well hidden between his wickedness and cruelty.
the reputation of the heir to autumn is despicable at best and deliberately crafted that way. still, he is magnetic and cunning, an accomplished commander in the autumn court armies, a skilled hunter and tracker, and a devoted son to his mother. he has 12 hounds which he raised himself to be loyal hunting companions.
autumn court fae can’t lie! not in the traditional sense anyway. they can exaggerate (and often speak hyperbolically!) and they can spin circles to avoid landing directly on the truth and they can trick as much as they please (and most often do whether they intend to avoid the truth or not!) but they cannot lie. the only thing is that most not from autumn don’t actually know this to be a fact anymore as it’s another thing to have cycled so much through the sifting ages that it’s often believed to be something the humans made up about fae in general which actually works really well for autumn court anyway. if asked a direct yes or no question, they have to blatantly ignore the question to avoid telling the truth which just gives them away anyway. so no literal lying.
eris has 12 scottish deerhounds all of whom he rescued as a full litter when their mother birthed them, and consequently died, in his father’s stables. beron would have killed them had eris not interfered. he’s raised them himself and they have grown into a pack of exceptionally talented, with the exception of one, the runt, which he gifted his mate, vasilis.
if beron is dying, why doesn't eris just easily kill him/why don't his sons/court rise up against him? fear for one thing. for eris in particular, it's the timing. he is "working for" his father within his court, but under the table he is securing alliances and putting out feelers to those who would be loyal to a court no longer ruled by beron. there are many who are loyal to beron whether by fear or similar ideals and eris has to be very careful when navigating the political waters.

I have been writing Edward for a long time. I have a very specific interpretation of him and I often draw on many other media when it comes to his characterization. I often compare him to both Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, as well as the Horatio Alger myth, among other stories and legends. Additionally, I draw on a variety of sources when it comes to vampire lore, including Stoker’s Dracula, the Blade comics, Anne Rice’s vampire compendium, the Castlevania animated series and video game, and others.
This portrayal does not see Edward as a misogynistic ass, nor is he a virgin or entirely inexperienced when it comes to relationships. In fact, he dated several celebrities prior to Bella, who he will not namedrop, and had a boyfriend for a brief time in the 90s. Also, he doesn’t fucking sparkle.

Edward is very much so an empathetic man. This is most certainly due to his telepathy, but he is also incredibly emotionally driven. Though he mercifully remembers very little of his human life prior to being turned, his biological father had fostered toxic masculinity and aggression in the Masen household. However, what was driven into him as a boy growing up human very quickly was replaced by the gentle and sensitive nature that Carlisle exuded and passed onto Edward as he grew as both a vampire and man. So much of who Edward is, is thanks to Carlisle and, later, Esme.
He is a certified pilot. He has his private pilot license, which he obtained in the 90s. He owns a Cessna 172 in a privately owned hangar. He doesn’t talk about this too much, but if one were to find out and ask about it, he could talk about flying for hours.

This interpretation of Chris Argent is generally in line with what is familiar to those who have seen TW. However, it should be made clear that this blog recognizes Victoria Argent, Chris' dead wife, as a turbulent and nigh-abusive figure within the family. Had Victoria lived, she would not have accepted Allison's influence on the Argent family's new legacy in support of the supernatural community. Chris, however, is loyal to Allison first and foremost, and follows her lead in all things; this was made first apparent prior to her death as a teenager and moreso when he signed the family business over to her entirely.
Chris is doing the hard work of reconciling the harm he has committed to his only child, as well as the harm done against him as both a husband and a son. His own father, Gerard Argent, had been a powerful and influential figurehead within the supernatural and hunter community, laying much of the modern groundwork for the war between humans and shifters in particular. With Allison stepping between the two sides and demanding peace, this generations-long worldview has begun to crumble. Chris is dutifully helping her to spread this change, and rebuild his relationship with his daughter.

chris’ full name is actually christophe, but he has taken to resorting to the anglicized, christopher, since his time spent in the army where they misspelled it on his dog tags. also, he has no preference for what you call him, be it christopher or chris, but he always introduces himself as simply chris.
IMPORTANT: interactions runs under the assumption that the supernatural world is not known to the general public. governments across the globe are privy to this knowledge, including the u.nited s.tates, and all have a hand in the politics associated with the community, mostly in very negative ways. essentially, the supernatural world is treated much the same way as area 51, cryptids, missing 411 phenomena, etc etc etc. just silly myths and stories made up by locals and fanatics. with that being said, argent international masquerades as a security employer, in that private and not-so-private individuals and conglomerate entities hire personnel through a.i. for security and protective services. it, of course, is actually a consulting agency with similar services for both human and supernatural beings. the goal of a.i. is to protect both the human world and spn.
This characterization of Cardan is generally canon compliant following the TFOTA trilogy and the sequel duology with some personal deviations and is as always headcanon-heavy in terms of interpretation. He is the High King of Elfhame, an enchanting and hidden world coinciding with the current modern world wherein faeries and their ilk are well aware of mortals but mortals very rarely are aware of the true existence of faeries.
There is a healthy mix of Holly Black's own faerie lore from Cardan's original canon, as well as various folklore, fairytale, and mythological creature lore from various media. I have a deep love of fairytales, particularly dark fairytales, and this is very present in this interpretation. Cardan is being written post-canon and as such, everything written should be considered original writing with the exception of any references to the TFOTA source material.

VOICE: Low and smooth. There's a musical quality to it. Bewitching and enticing. Capable of frightening those stupid enough to go against him, but just as able to command a room full of faeries and enchant just as many mortals with a mere whisper.
POSTURE: Impeccable when they so choose, which is rarely. Most often, they are perfectly content to lounge as much as they'd like and slouch even more, but it does not detract from the very obvious touch of easy decadence to their every movement.
SCARS: Terrible, terrible scars all along his back from years of abuse at the hands of one of his brothers.
NOTABLE FEATURE(S): His pointed ears. His long, thin tail which has a tuft of black hair on the end and is often decorated with gold or silver and jeweled cuffs. His extravagant taste in attire. This interpretation operates under the combined universes of Reeves' and Phillips' films, which is to say that every interaction is explored with the assumption that it's based in the real world. Furthermore, this Bruce's world lacks powers and abilities the way that most Batman iterations and DC worlds revolve around. I'm open to writing with characters with supernatural abilities or superpowers, but those interactions will not exist within Bruce's primary arc.

i recognize arthur fleck as bruce's canon older brother and true heir to the wayne fortune. joker and the batman are intrinsically connected; one often cannot be found without the other far behind. both are unhealthily obsessive and possessive over each other and any threats to joker OR arthur are subject to the batman AND bruce's ire. do not make the mistake of using joker against the batman; or, if you do, be prepared for the consequences. i'm very attached to abigail and jessie's portrayals and when arthur or his wife nix are referenced in threads or headcanon posts, theirs are the ones i'm talking about.
my bruce is very mentally ill. in the aftermath of the floods and bruce's revelation regarding the very deep well of criminal connections and corruption in relation to the wayne family, he's going through a very huge identity crisis. who is bruce wayne? how does he fit into gotham? can he and the batman fit together? what does this mean for wayne enterprises? these are ongoing struggles for bruce right now.
this interpretation is a younger bruce wayne, a still relatively new batman and detective, and as such the wayne estate is in a sort of limbo right now. this bruce is not the playboy billionaire businessman that most are familiar with. right now he wants nothing to do with his family name and is very much rejecting the idea that he can do much as bruce; he is far more attached to the batman and what that can do for gotham (and himself).

This characterization of Allison is unique to canon material. She DID die after being impaled by an oni’s katana in season three and remained clinically dead for the next hour. However, she was then revived and RESURRECTED. She remained in the hospital for six days as she recuperated. For the next ten weeks, she struggled to fit back into ordinary life alongside her friends and family. Despite their joy at the prospect of her second chance at life, Allison felt unhappy and out of place. She frequently suffered headaches and strange hallucinations different from the ones she experienced after her first death in the ice baths. Under the impression that these feelings and hallucinations were fueled by her brush with death, ALLISON LEFT BEACON HILLS with her father and began learning how to run a business, which would later help her to spearhead her own trade separate from her family’s hunting business.
After a year of travel and research, Allison parted ways with her father and settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she reconnected with her estranged great aunt, Adelaide Argent. With her aunt’s help, Allison discovered the truth about who she was and why she did not fit in again following her death. Upon her resurrection, Allison’s subtle body and true soul were reawakened and the hallucinations she had been experiencing were from her past lives. After her death and revival, her powers are inaccessible until she becomes fully aware of who she is and completes her memory resurgence. Post-resurrection Allison CAN DIE, but with this, she has the ability to manipulate her own mortality (read: she can choose whether or not she wants to stick around longer than a human’s typical lifespan). While she does have force power, it is not at all a strong suit of hers and she prefers it that way, honestly. Another important ability to point out are her existential manifestations, which explains how she leap-frogs through so many lives and variations of herself. This means, simply put, that she has the ability to manifest through different personalities and entire beings (i.e. Selene becoming Artemis, Phoebe, and eventually Allison Argent). Finally, Allison is an expert marksmen and close combat fighter even before she is killed, but her personal resurgence with these divine powers, of course, enhances her abilities and gives her inhuman strength. She is goddess of the hunt, after all.
