My Favorite New Oxford, PA Restaurants By Far

If you are looking for the best pizza and by best, I mean the thinnest of ultra-thin crust with heaps of topping choices then you simply have to go to La Fonte. It is by far the best Italian restaurant that should have been in the heart of Italy, but now we are the fortunate ones to have it on our doorstep! If pizza is not your favorite then I urge you to try their linguine with clams and mussels or another favorite of mine, their veal parmigiana.

Best wings in Pittsburgh are eaten at Scozzaro’s Old Mill Inn with my personal favorite the Hot Garlic or the Dry Pepper Parmigiana. I know you have not heard of place that offers you a selection of more than thirty different flavors giant wings before, but yes here they have that and all more. I love ordering six wings, round it with one of their entrée style salad bowls with the garden blend, and grilled Portobello Mushrooms on top and I am in seventh heaven. My husband on the other hand swears by their house specialty, which is the Beach Burger that they top with his favorite provolone cheese and homemade crab cake.

If you have children or even a sweet tooth yourself then you will never go wrong with the quaint but family friendly Holey Joe’s café. I is pure heaven when you take one of their donuts and allow it to literally melt in your mouth. Another restaurant I recommend for a diversity is Rosie’s Restaurant, especially when you have a family. Another restaurant with wings nearly as good as that of Scozzaro’s Old Mill Inn is Scozzaro’s Restaurant. Their Chipotle Ranch wings and fries as well as their beer steamed shrimp are delectable tastes that you will love and come back for.

Going Fancy and Upscale

Yes, I do realize that dining has been taken down a notch or two and by that, I do not mean the food or service, but that it is a more casual affair. No more high heels, fancy dress and men in tuxedos either. However, you might be surprised at how many people still adore a fancy dinner in an incredibly stiff atmosphere which most of us neglect. On the other hand even though dressing to the nines are neglected you do still find restaurants where you either go home hungry after paying the bill that would have covered the entire monthly food bill at home, or where even your breathing feels watched.

I am not going to bother with that too much however some of my favorites where upscale is still a necessity and dressing up required and accompanied with incredible dishes and extraordinary service and prices too are what I want to tell you about. In central Pennsylvania is the Tavern on the Hill, which has been longstanding and what you should try here is the veal meatballs marinara, veal chops or roasted rack of lamb for an experience you will come back for, for sure.

Not to miss either is The Accomac where you pay for an entrée alone around $45 alone and believe me it is a small entrée. Their dinners are in small plates with French onion soups, or assorted seafood, venison loin or Thai meatballs. Then you have the incredibly fine Final Cut Steakhouse and easily one of the best in the world. Here you pay anything from $44 and up to $85 per small entrée, but every dollar is worth the taste.

Favorite Mexican Restaurants in New Oxford

I know I might be the all-American girl, who is supposed to love all things American, but my favorite cuisine, which I love to indulge in no less than once a month, is Mexican food. My husband is the typical burger and steak person while my daughter loves hot dogs and pizza, but they also love going to one of my picks of the week as they jokingly call it. I love hearing when they ask me what is on the menu for the weekend for example and I know they mean which restaurant and not what am I cooking.

I know I am loved, but I also know that my cooking is not loved as much. I do not mind, as I am not seriously interested in learning fancy foods and learning new recipes on a daily basis either. At least I can cook a few things rather well, one of which is bacon and eggs with fried tomato and even make a rather good spaghetti bolognaise. One of the best is Tania’s Mexican Restaurant and if you did not know, you would think you are actually in Mexico.

It is the most authentic Mexican food and if you wonder how I know, I can add that I have been to Mexico and even the “real” Mexicans are not holding a candle to our local Mexican diner. Then I should not neglect to mention Gallito’s Mexican Restaurant, which I would call more Tex-Mex than full-on Mexican, but nevertheless worth a visit. The best on their menu which is my favorite is the lamb tacos while my daughter swears their Cubano sandwich is the best ever tasted.

Best Coffee Shops and Bakeries

I know I might sound like someone who spends a lot of her time doing shopping and eating in restaurants and yes, many of it might be true, however I do feel the need to share which is in itself helpful to you too. I go shopping twice a week for groceries, fresh produce and we eat in restaurants often, and the rest of the time, I mostly use catering companies when I entertain. I am not the world’s greatest cook and love experimenting either with recipes found online or in one of my recipe books, which I also order by the dozens.

When I do go shopping in stores, which I will still share with you at a later stage when you are hunting for good bargains, I love popping in for a quick coffee and something freshly baked. Thus my decision to share some of the best bakeries with mouthwatering freshly baked goodies. My first choice is popping in at the New Oxford Coffee Co. and visitors Center where they serve the best Caramel Macchiato in the world. It is a freshly steamed espresso with vanilla bean syrup, which they top with cream and caramel sauce.

That is not my only reason for going there though as you have never tasted the mouthwatering layer cakes and biscotti that they bake. If you think, you have had the best then you simply have to eat their cinnamon rolls, or even that cherry pies before you ever say somebody knows how to bake. I have to admit that I often get my freshly baked goodies from them when I know I am having important guests over.

New Oxford, PA Guide

Good day and welcome to my guide to new Oxford, PA eateries and restaurants, well all things nice to be fair. I am a thirty-nine year old mother of one daughter and a hubby I adore, but yes, I do get bored when I have little to do around the house. Thus my decision to try my hand at blogging. I would not call myself much of a writer per se, but at least is it a hobby that I love. I love talking and since most of my friends are working during the day, I often get rather lonely.

Blogging on the other hand gives me the ideal opportunity to communicate with people much like me and what is more I might even be able to share something of value with you in the process. I often go online and look for new ideas, websites and educational content and I have found that very little is ever said about restaurants for example. Oh yes I do realize that each restaurant has a website and everybody boasting about themselves being the best, but what about the ordinary person like me who is looking for a great place to eat something specific.

I have decided that with a blog I would start by educating people about my hometown or city rather, which is in Pennsylvania. I have searched online for a place to buy gardening plants from and found that even though there is plenty information, it still lack that personal touch. Thus was my thought to start by something such as eateries and restaurants in my city which I know personally are awesome and work down until I even tell you where to get the best house or gardening plants, etc.
