The book I’m writing is set in the early 2000’s and it’s made me quite nostalgic for that time. I went to look up the boyfriend I had back then and was MADLY IN LOVE WITH.

i'll forever miss how the internet felt before you had to second-guess the authenticity of every single piece of media you came across. silly videos used to be just silly. fun was coincidental. wonder was just wonder. digital art had character and soul. AI has taken the taste out of everything and irreversibly poisoned the creative sphere and the people still pushing it forward are the doom of both joy and the quality of being.

I’m still getting nowhere with jobs and freelance work has dried up so I’ve started to just actually work on my novel.

It’s been a year of me feeling unbearably guilty because I’m bringing v little money in and now I just need to get on with life and do things except stare at my phone and hope a job offer arrives.

The book is going well, though! It’s a seaside town kind of folk horror and Ross has said it’s “very literary”. I’m trying to not base it too hard on my life in Largs but it is about a teen girl living in a Scottish seaside town in the early 2000’s so…

I wrote 2700 words last night and only actually stopped because it was bedtime and I’m trying to not fall into my very old habit of 4am bedtimes lol. It’s really scrappy so far and I’ll definitely be changing some names but I’m loving creating this world and hanging out with the characters.

My mental health is so much better than it was, largely because of leaving behind that group tbh. There was an incident last week which made me feel like I was back at square one. I took it as a sign that moving on is the right thing to be doing.

It’s getting easier. Nice to be playing with stories again.
