The blonde’s chin rests against her left hand, elbow on the cafeteria table. Her right hand is scooting stray peas around her tray with a fork, idly fidgeting. She’s not focused on her food. She’s focused on the newcomer, sitting a table away, trying fruitlessly to draw the attention of the crowd. 

She notices his attempts. She’s the only one who notices, and she notices that, too. She’s more observant than anyone gives her credit for. She likes to watch. 

He scans the crowd, looking for anyone who might be receptive to whatever crucially important announcement he intends to make. She makes eye contact, deliberately, but doesn’t approach. She knows she doesn’t have to. He’s desperate for attention, desperate for someone to listen to him. She knows that all she has to do is wait and he’ll come to her.

There’s a blonde person watching him, not eating their (her?) food. Varrick decides to focus on the one person who seems interested in what he has to say. That was a good start, it always was. It was easier to start with the people who want to buy what you’re selling. He wasn’t quite sure he liked the way she was eyeing him, but if Varrick was afraid of a little something like an intense gaze, he wouldn’t be as successful as he was now. She wasn’t as big as a lot of the people here, but Varrick wasn’t much of a fighter; he’d rather it didn’t come to that.

He sat down next to her. “Enjoying the view?” he asked. “I can see you watching me. Not a lot of eye candy in this dump, huh? Murkoff sure knows how to pick ‘em.”

So Mako is 6'2"… Varrick’s like one or two inches shorter than Mako… Prolly around 6’… So Zhu li is rly tall, like 5'8", 5'9"? Cause she comes about to his eyes I think, haha

Also drawin people in their (weirdly modern?) underpants is too much fun and everyone should try it

Various Varrick ages

I honestly don’t know what age he’d be in lok??? I’d say late 30s, idk, and I like the idea of him being sort of… midlife when he and Zhu Li get married and have chillins or whatev. And I think he’d also be one of those people who is good-looking at every age. Like basically every other avatar character (and robert downey jr).

I also like the idea of him going gray sort of… early-ish and freaking out, and then Zhu Li is like ‘uh actually it’s kind of really handsome on you’ so he just lets it grow for her, lol
