"it's ok to show (x) in fiction as long as the bad guy gets punished!" the bad guy doesn't have to get punished. in fact the bad guy can win altogether. the bad guy can entirely get away with it. hope this helps
and this part might make some people's head explode but: characters can be written to forgive things you personally wouldn't ever forgive. not everything is written as what you'd perceive to be the right choice. not everything is a self-insert & protagonists don't have to be relatable.

i have a different opinion (pls explain in tags!)
trying to gage this - i personally think it’s unnecessary, as ao3 is not an american territory that im publishing into, but ive had comments before that lead me to think it takes people out of the story. let me know your thoughts! :)
just to add:
by “americanise” i mean purely in terms of vocab/grammar, for example the use of em dashes is different (in the uk we use -, in the us you use —), or you guys would say “apologize” rather than “apologise”
i agree that if a story is set in america, i wouldn’t be writing “bloody hell” and using “pavement” instead of “sidewalk”. i do think there is some nuance there!
the people who enjoy the type of art you create, will like it even if it's imperfect. and the people who hate the type of art you create, will dislike it even if it IS perfect.
don't skip ahead of bullies and bully yourself first. don't badmouth your own work, it doesn't alter other people's opinion on art, but it does make you feel worse about yourself.

Fanfiction is supposed to be cringy. You're allowed to write bad. You're allowed to be cringe. Fanfiction is supposed to be self indulgent. You're allowed to be cringe. Let yourself be cringe. Fanfiction is supposed to be fun. Stop putting arbitrary rules on yourself and be free.
I would like to take a moment to appreciate Mary Jane's wedding dress. I'm honestly not that into clothing, but I think it looks incredible.
It was actually designed by fashion designer Willi Smith and was one of the last outfits he worked on before he tragically passed away at age 39, from pneumonia caused by AIDS.
I wish I could say more about him since I see how important he is to the fashion world, but I'm not too familiar with it, so I don't think I could do him justice. But I would like to note that he does actually appear in the book and is actually in attendance at the wedding.
