what are your opinions on brightvision? (This is not a request I just wanna know your opinion)
Well thank you very very much for asking!! I like it okay! They certainly have a lot of potential and some interesting dynamics.
Brightney seeming to be the only person helping Vee out with her batteries and all that is very interesting, especially like in that one short with glisten somebody who is very close with vee but he still had to go get BRIGHTNEY to help her out. Like it seems like vee really trusts brightney in particular to be all up in her battery compartment since you'd figure otherwise she'd just have some in her room and let the people she trusts know where they are if she needed help, but no, the only person we've ever seen helping out Vee like that is brightney as far as I know which I think says a lot about their dynamic.
BUT ALSO I must say their dialog in game is insanely funny, like Vee talks to her in such an awkward way it always makes me giggle. Vee's "yeah alright, good talk" always reminds me of how like a dad talks when trying to connect to his son or something LMAO like I think Vee uses banter as a type of conversation crutch, like how she makes fun of glisten and sprout as a way to connect with them but maybe she doesn't feel like she can talk that way with brightney so she doesn't really know how to talk with her casually maybe. It's hard to interpret i think, because there's an obvious layer of love and trust there but also their dialog seems a bit formal and forced, to me at least. I find myself having a hard time picturing what they would do together besides gameshow trivia and Vee maintenance, Or what they would talk about really. I wonder if that awkward feeling in their dialog is intentional, like maybe they used to be closer, or it's just vee not knowing how to reach out and connect. It could also just be a side effect of their relationship not being focused on nearly as much as say, shelly and tisha.
One other thing that has always stood out to me about both of them is their relationships with Rodger, Vee doesn't like or trust him and thinks he's just trying to use her. But brightney seems to be very friendly with Rodger and maybe even helps him out, I always find myself very curious what they think of that. There's certainly room for some spice and drama from that if you wanted and I always appreciate that in ship dynamics!
They aren't my favorite ship (obviously) but I think one of the reasons for that is because brightney isn't really my favorite character, honestly it's kinda sad just how much more Tisha has going on than poor brightney LMAO (not to put 2 bad bitches against each other of course) like I always love a workaholic type character, it's very relatable. But Brightney is like WAY TOO nice about it for me, like one of my favorite things about Tisha is that she overworks herself but also she's up tight about it. when people overwork themselves and have to deal with burnout about it they very rarely can keep up with that work AND be patient and nice to everyone. Like Tisha is judgemental and impatient I would guess that is at least partially form how over tired she is from it all, like how she doesn't really care about squirm crying, she's mad at vee and won't say why, she tells sprout to go clean his own messy kitchen. I love these parts of tisha we see where she's a bit mean with people because that's genuinely how people act when pushing themselves too thin. And I think for brightney to be up there with my favs she needs to have a crash out... I want to see her be pushed too far and get mean about it!! She's almost unrealistically kind and emotionally regulated in her dialog, I mean im guessing the intention is for that to be a sort of mask hiding how stressed out she might be but if that's the case I want to see that mask slip at least here and there. She deserves it!! I was hoping squirm would bring that extra bit of spice to her character im craving but he wasn't really. she's almost like his therapist (if I may be a pretentious feminist about it for a second I do dislike how in all their dialog brightney is made to do emotional labor for his lil worm ass like he isn't supposed to be a child right? I wonder why she feels so responsible to help him regulate himself like she does. Like im sure they're close, maybe even a family like dynamic but the way she talks to him feels kinda clinical. I don't really like it)
All that to say i would be more of a fan if poor brightney had more going on! It's hard in a cast as big as dandys world to have a ton of shit going on with EVERYBODY but I guess that's why I find myself more of a brightney x Connie shipper, they feel like they are on a similar level of development for a lack of better wording. They have a clean simple cool girl x nerd type of dynamic that fits their more simple characters. (And please don't take that as me saying beightney x vee is a BAD SHIP or anything like that, I hope my yaps about their dynamic properly got across that I do see the appeal! There IS a lot to work with there, I think it's a good one hehe)
