A sigh. This poor boy was HOPELESS. He reminded Jem of Will, in a sense--the stubborn IGNORANCE was probably what made the con- nection. It was time to leave, the older decided, getting to his feet and placing a hand on the ad- dict’s shoulder. Living for so long in silence seemed to have callused him in terms of helping (or attempting to help) others. Or, perhaps, it was just that he did not care much for mundanes.
