#tbt: 15 Step, by Radiohead

Radiohead’s 7th album, In Rainbows, opens up with this interesting piece. The song fluctuates in its focus, shifting from Thom Yorke’s melancholic voice to the uptempo instrumentals, weaving the two sounds together flawlessly with some cheers from a group of children at Matrix Music School & Arts Centre in Oxford. Not only does it introduce us to one of the band’s best albums (ranking in at #336 of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time), but it reintroduces Yorke’s vocals to the band, connecting their sound to his solo album The Eraser.

Whenever I see a post on tumblr suggesting aliens don’t have gender, I always think–‘but what if also the reverse. What if aliens also have some fundamental social construct we don’t’.

Like, they come and meet us and they’re like ‘hey this is an awkward question but what’s your gooblebygark?’

And we’re like what.

What. What. What the fuck, those words don’t even mean anything??? What are you talking about?
