Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

Where is this notion that greedling’s hair changes direction based on who’s in control coming from???? In both the manga AND anime ling and greedlings hair always faces away from the camera no matter what…..?????? Guys where did we get this from

In the Manga, it is specifically the direction it faces. Like, if the bangs face left, it's one and if the bangs face right, it's the other. It's been awhile since ive last read the Manga, but that was one of the other identifiers beyond their eyes to indicate who is in control.

Here is the best example. With one page with Greed speaking and the next with Ling speaking. Greed in control means bangs to our left. Ling in control means bangs to our right. He's my OG comfort character lol

I think. I think we’re both right? This is bizarre. Though my artist brain would like to chalk it up to the fact that their faces are SLIGHTLY pointing different directions.

Yes, I definitely noticed that i also really depended on the direction was facing too. So it doesn't always apply, but usually during still moments where they want to change who is in control, they'll use the hair as a visual identifier.

Though the main one is the fact that Greed usually has his eyes open while Ling has his closed. And sometimes overall facial expression. It just depends on the scene.
