“Mass Appeal records will release Rubble Kings: The Album next month, which is a compilation of songs inspired by Shan Nicholson’s documentary on gang politics in the South Bronx in the 1970s. Watch the cartoon video for Run The Jewels’ contribution below.“ - Gabriela Tully Claymore

A Tribe Called Quest reunited on The Tonight Show last night to play “Can I Kick It” celebrating the 25th anniversary of their first album, Peoples Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. Wish I was there.
“Pop music cover band Postmodern Jukebox and singer Sara Niemietz recently performed a wonderful vintage 1940s swing cover of the Talking Heads‘ 1983 song “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody).” Postmodern Jukebox‘s new cover is available to purchase online via iTunes.”

"Even without its artwork and name, it’s obvious that “Quite Like”, the attractive debut track from Rennes-based duo, Her, is inspired by the emotions that come with being attracted to the opposite sex (in this case, women). With a soaking of seductive-sounding guitars, silky-smooth vocals, and lyrics that spell everything out the duo loves, we think they’ve hit the nail on the head as far as depicting aesthetically the lust of all that is portrayed."

I've been listening to a lot of Andy Shauf, waiting for winter to end in Massachusetts.
The Bearer of Bad News by Andy Shauf
Mississippi native, John Barret (above right) was performing as a one man band with a guitar and a bass drum up until 2008 when he started Bass Drum of Death. According to Wikipedia, “his music was strongly influenced at the time by Dr. Dre“. Nice.

Have yourself a sexy weekend. Happy birthday to my main squeeze, the sweetest little drop of honey in the whole beehive.
