Karen was always awkward about getting to know new people. She grew up an only child and she knew that her personality was a bit much to handle sometimes. That her imagination would run a little too much in the conversations she would hold but when Dan was so cool around her she thought maybe this could be the start of a new beautiful friendship? Tidying up the house was a must; she had wrappers of half eaten chocolates confetti-ed around the living room and the kitchen and bathroom were just a mess. She cleaned quickly and jammed to loud 80’s band music before she finished completely taking the trash out and then heading back inside to change her clothes that somehow had a chocolate stains on it, “did I eat this or roll in it?” she said to herself before changing once more. She was just pulling her shirt over her head when she heard the door “that was quick” she said looking at her watch before dashing to the door and pulling the hair out from her collar “Hey!” she said smiling.
“Hey!” For a man whose own home ━━ and even his car ━━ occasionally ( or, often ) shared the same decor of candy wrappers strewn about here and there, Dan certainly wouldn’t have been judgmental had he seen the house in its previous state. Still, there’s of course nothing wrong with a sparkling home either, and his smile only grows as he steps inside and eyes survey the area able to be seen from the entrance. “Your house is stunning.” The statement is in and of itself true, but especially so in comparison to his home still littered with boxes from moving. Granted, with every day the sea of cardboard became less and less, but to see a house completely put together was satisfying.
“So I definitely brought way more than necessary, but...” He trails off as he switches the basket into one hand, using his other to lift and momentarily display each bottle of wine ( yes, one red, one white, one rosé ) followed by the variety of chocolates in it one-by-one. “I wasn’t sure you if you had a specific preference for any one kind of wine or chocolate, so the thought process was kind of a, ‘Why not bring one of each and you can’t go wrong?’ thing. The more the merrier, right?”
