“ i am not a bird. ” there is disgust in his voice at the notion of being compared to one of the winged beasts. they are uncoordinated and graceless in comparison. “ i will warn you only once: if you aren’t careful, you will be the scum that i fry today. ”

      And with that attitude comes the well deserved slap across the face. 

          after the initial shock wears off, he laughs. “ so that’s how you want to play? i must admit, i’m a little surprised, but consider me persuaded. i like a girl that fights back. ”

     ‘ for a mistake i made when i was no more than a child. i’m not sure whether i should admire your dedication to him, or pity you for your delusion, michael. he doesn’t care for any of us. if he did, he wouldn’t have left things in such disarray. he is no parent. a concept, i’m sure, you’ll never fully be able to grasp. a parent does not give up on their children, nor do they abandon them when they need help. i won’t give lucifer your message. he’s suffered enough. the last thing he needs is the added stress of his pretentious, self-righteous brother hanging over his head. if you want to give him a message, i suggest you do it yourself. otherwise, you know where to stick it. ’ 

       “ it was the only command that you consciously disobeyed. how is that anything close to a mistake? you knew your actions would have consequences, yet you still disobeyed and you’re standing here, trying to justify your actions. human children understand this concept better than you seem to do. i will not continue to argue with you over my father’s absence -- however, i assure you it is not abandonment.

           i will take your suggestion into careful consideration. -- though, you should be cautious yourself. i do not care for you, but i would hate to see what happens to you when he grows bored, as we both know he will. it’s only a matter of time. ”

     there aren’t many people she likes having beneath her as much as she likes having artemis beneath her. she shifts forward so she’s resting on her forearms, her arms on either side of her head, braced against the warm stone of the roof.       “ask me nicely and maybe i’ll reward you for getting a hit on me.” her gaze flicks down to her mouth, then back up to her eyes. her grin is challenging, eager with the thought of victory and the rush of having her underneath her, bodies pressed close together, her legs around medusa’s hips ———- artemis can probably feel what she’s thinking about right now, but medusa doesn’t really care as much as she should. let her know. it doesn’t change anything.       her head dips down to ghost her lips over artemis’ ear. “can i kiss you, art?” 

    her heart began to race and she had hardly any breath to speak. the adrenaline from training makes her feel more eager to accept this defeat than she probably should be.

     the same thoughts and emotions run through both of them on a desire charged circuit,and she can’t tell which are hers and which are medusa’s. her breath catches in her throat as her lips barely brush against her skin and her heart goes into overdrive -- she begins to worry that it will burst out of her chest. 

   a small grin spreads across her face and she bites her bottom lip softly in anticipation of this reward she’s being promised. she wants it -- badly -- but she can’t imagine medusa will let her have her way so easily. still... “ yes. ”
