joon had hardly gotten any sleep last night as he was dreaming up his child’s future with sydney, but one doctor’s visit had killed all of those dreams and hopes. instead, they found out that the positive test that she had was false. that sometimes there were glitches that happened, and that she had never been pregnant. as the doctor stepped out of the room, joon looked over at his girlfriend. he moved closer to her, his arms naturally wrapping around her. “shhh, it’s okay. don’t be sorry,” he rubbed her back and kissed the top of her head. “if anything, it’s better this way, right? it’s not like something bad happened to the baby. you were just never pregnant at all.” leave it to joon to try to find something positive out of a bad situation. “if you really want a baby, we can always try for one,” he whispered, though he knew it probably wasn’t the right time for that right now.
ever since she found out she was expecting, she began imagining various scenarios of her and joon with their baby. suddenly, it was ripped from her grasp and there was nothing she can do about it. she should be relieved over the fact that she wasn’t pregnant, considering the two weren’t ready to have a child. yet, her heart was aching. as soon as joon’s arms come around her, she sinks into his embrace and lets a few tears slip past her lashes. her arms curl around his shoulders, sniffling as she nods in agreement that, ultimately, it was better this way. grateful that he’s trying to make her feel better, she pulls away slightly give him a watery smile. “i want us to have a baby when we’re both ready. i think it’s better if we wait,” she admits, stubborn tears continuing to roll down her cheeks. “i don’t know why i’m getting like this,” the words almost sound like a whine as her she’s trying to control herself from breaking out into a full-out cry.

❝ shut up. i threw away all your stuff. ❞ he did throw away most of them but he didn’t throw away a few certain ones as it could be seen. ❝ it’s my t-shirt. i wore it more than you did anyway, it doesn’t matter. ❞ he shrugged but he was still annoyed that he gave him another thing to jab at and he hated it. ❝ stop smiling like an idiot! stop it! ❞
❝ clearly not all my stuff, ❞ he shoots the male a pointed look, hues darting towards the shirt that hung off his frame. ❝ i wonder how many other articles of clothing you “threw” out, ❞ he teases, unable to stifle the smug smile that tug at the ends of his lips. it was always so entertaining to watch the male get riled up over something so trivial. ❝ you can keep it, i give you permission. ❞

seraphina was glad they were on the same page. she supposed it was something that she always loved about him; that their minds always seemed to work in the same way. “good,” she exclaimed, her eyes shimmering with happiness. “because i don’t want to be away from you ever. you’re stuck with me!” she cried, her voice resounding through the quiet of the streets, very different from the voice that he had just used with her. she felt her cheeks burn up at how loud she was being. when they were inside, she checked her phone, seeing that it was noon. “they said at three. so, in three hours or so,” she looked to him and tilted her head curiously. “why do you ask?”
a small laugh slips past his lips over her outburst. there was probably nothing that she could do that he didn’t find endearing. it was as if they’d gone back to high school and he was a smitten high school boy, pining after the girl of his dreams. though, not all of it was false considering she truly was the girl of his dreams. “hm, i guess you can i say i have a little something in store for you,” there’s a teasing lilt in his tone of voice as they get into the elevator, mischief flickering across his features. he lets his gaze linger on her for a few moments and if there were to be any bystanders, they’d probably see hearts in his eyes. “i still can’t believe how lucky i am to have you.”

she could feel her heart drop, her breathing stop, and a small breath return to her chest as he pulled away. somi closed her eyes, giving up the moment between them as she exhaled gently and straightened up. there was no rushing something like this– and being grateful he was even alive had helped her through so much, what was something as trivial as this?
at his words, somi gave him a gentle, encouraging smile. “what is it?” she almost dreaded the question, but at least it had filled the space between what had just almost happened between them.
as soon as he spotted the smile playing across her lips, he felt the tension among them drain almost instantly. it was probably because he was relieved-- considering he almost messed up everything a few moments ago. when she asks him what’s on his mind, he scratches the back of his neck, racking his brain for something that could make sense for his strange behavior.
but then a thought hits him like a ton of bricks, his brows knitting together. “uh, well ... i do remember niko. considering we basically grew up together,” he begins, now actually curious in his inquiry. “i’m assuming you’ve met him if we were dating-- have you heard from him? i feel like ever since the accident, he’s been... MIA.”

seeing him asleep, bare chested, only reminded her of all the things they had done the night before. the memories still fresh in her mind like a cold shower. she had always known haruko looked good, always considered him attractive but now– after having seen him in the most intimate light. he was no different from a god. biting on her bottom lip, she quickly looked away as he stirred.
good morning. since when did his voice sound so sexy? so husky and deep? the same voice that had groaned against her last night. hannah turned back to face him, a small smile on her lips turning genuine and soft at the sight of him. “hey.”
and she fought the urge to lean in and kiss him again, as if it was normal that she had just slept with her brother’s best friend. she was wordless, unsure of what else to say. her eyes flickered away from him, biting harder on her bottom lip at this ‘morning-after’ exchange. would she have to do the walk of shame now?
there’s a surge of relief that floods through him at the sight of her smile. they’ve known each other for as long as he could remember and very rarely did they ever fight or have a reason to create distance between one another. but now, they did-- they’d commit a deed that put their entire friendship on the line. the lightweight sheet slides down his skin, pooling around his waist as he forces himself to sit up.
they’ve woken up together many times in the past, but never did he want to lean over and pull her into a kiss to satiate the memories of the prior night. he has to force himself to look away from her for a few seconds to push away the sinful thoughts that were gonna cause issues for his little friend under the sheets.
haruko drags his fingers through his unruly locks before letting his gaze focus on the girl before him. he clears his throat with a cough before speaking up again, “can i offer you some breakfast?”

when the two had walked into the doctor’s office together, they’d been full of hope and anticipation in regards to their baby. they spent the entire night whispering reassurances and promising each other how they’d give their little bundle of joy the most happiness in the entire world. twenty minutes and an ultrasound later, the doctor revealed that it was a false positive and the two were never actually pregnant. sydney was at a loss of words when the latter female steps out to give them space after the rude awakening. her shaky hands slide over her flat stomach, tears glazing over her hues as she refuses to look over in joon’s direction. “we’re not pregnant...” she whispers, an undecipherable emotion surging through her veins-- making her wonder whether she wanted to burst into to tears or isolate herself from everyone completely. her head is hung low, letting her locks fan out in attempt to cover her face. “i’m so sorry.”
