tink sat, arms crossed on a table in the middle of the tavern. she was staring daggers across the room at the barmaid who’d refused to give her a mug of ale because she ‘looked like a child.’
she could tell that the longer she sat there, the more uncomfortable the woman became. she ventured to guess that the lady would last five more minutes before caving and giving tink the beverage she’d asked for. when someone stood in her line of sight she let out a very inhuman growl.
“move or i’ll decapitate you.”
Stepping into the tavern, Prince Adam scowled at the crowd of people filling the place, pulling his cloak tighter around his shoulders as he made his way towards the bar. Under any other circumstance, this was far from any sort of place he would have ever found himself in, though given his current situation, and the state of affairs, he’d long ago deduced he’d been left with no other option.
Adam hadn’t ever been the most popular of people nor Princes, failing miserably at filling his father’s large shoes. The isolation he’d experienced for the entirety of his life seemed to drive him, and no matter how desperately he wished to interact as any other might do, he couldn’t bring himself to let go of the rage which had been festering within him for practically his entire life.
Stepping to the bar, he motioned to the barmaid, leaning forward to place his order when he heard the growl from behind him. Turning, the Prince lifted his eyebrows, head tilting into the menacing smirk forming upon his lips. “Excuse you?” He replied, the venom lacing his tone obvious. “I’ll grant you one opportunity to amend your statement. Beyond that, what occurs can no longer be considered my responsibility.”

BIO:
Born with the shiniest of all silver spoons between his lips, Prince Adam Matthieu Dubois was aware (virtually from birth) that he was meant to be special. His father and mother- King Francois Dubois and Queen Genevieve Dubois- doted upon him from the moment he entered the world, an action which never ceased, even upon their deaths. As the Crown Prince of Ardenieaux, Adam never would nor could have been anything less than spoiled. Wanting for nothing, his state wasn’t helped by the fact that he was an only child, remaining as such for the entirety of his life. Francois and Genevieve treated him as though he was nothing more than a gift- and to them, he most certainly was. To everyone else, however, Prince Adam Dubois was nothing more than a terror.
when standing before his parents, Adam maintained the most charming of affects, presenting a picture of perfection and grace, leading them easily to believing that under no circumstance could he have ever even considered doing anything less than pleasant. Away from his parents’ watchful eyes, the boy changed as much as his story, shifting practically into another being entirely. His mannerisms changed, his attitude changed, and even his expression darkened tremendously. Respect was something the Prince lacked most severely, though care for others came in as a close second. By his teenage years, the Prince had grown into a young man many believed was less-than-fit to rule. And, in reality, they were correct.
A stark contrast to his parents’ kind and fair natures, Adam was selfish, prideful, arrogant, egotistical, and immature, often storming through the castle, berating any and all who dared cross his path, intent upon exerting what he believe to be an air of unmatched power. By the time he’d transitioned out of his teenage years, the Prince had become something more, something worse, something many likened to a being nearly less-than-human.
Adam’s attitude and outlook only seemed to worsen, reaching its perceived peak when he was 24 years old. The year had been a difficult one, with whispers of his parents’ declining health fueling a fire which spread rapidly through the castle and village alike. Fear spread rapidly among the people of Ardenieaux- fear for themselves, fear for their families, fear for their way of life…And fear of what might occur once Prince Adam Dubois took his seat on the throne. Those fears became reality when, in the interest of their health, the King and Queen chose to remove themselves from the palace, leaving their son in their place as Prince Regent while they lived their days in peace, tucked away in the family’s royal cabin.
As expected, Prince Adam ruled over Ardenieaux with an iron fist, alienating more people than he made friends with, and leaving his subjects feeling more lost and unsteady than ever before. It seemed as though the Prince felt no duty nor sense of urgency towards anyone other than himself. Known for nothing more than his narrow way of ruling and the lavish parties and dinners he insisted upon throwing, Adam seemed unchangeable and set within his ways. When things within the kingdoms began to change- when the danger came, and it seemed as though the realms were facing the beginning of the end, Prince Adam did just as everyone believed he would- he ran. Uncaring for his kingdom or his subjects, he thought only of bringing himself to safety, ensuring his own posterity.
PRESENT:
Since arriving, Prince Adam has attempted to maintain the lifestyle he’s accustomed to. Though, word of his past, his attitude, and his method of ruling had a far wider reach than even he’d been expecting. Adam has found it difficult to make friendships and connections, and has primarily kept to his own living quarters. Often, he thinks about his kingdom, and those he left there- including his parents. Adam’s days are filled with reading and observing the world as it passes around him. Recently, he has decided to begin attempting to venture out more, having decided to try his hand at making a life…And, deciding what to do about the life and kingdom he left behind.
