Yep. I've contacted two editors, a beta reader and a freelance critic. All of whom are so open and borderline brutal with their advice that the rewrite is a project I feel will be far more successful than the original novel.
The first chapter I sent to the critic was absolutely torn apart. I use too many "-ings," adjectives, and, in their words, "word vomit." Yes, fair, I totally do. And I will continue to do so, just to get the ideas out. Then comes the meticulous process of implementing all of their words of wisdom.
Now, each chapter looks professional. They flow beautifully. Whenever I read through what I have written so far, the pride and wonder at how far this masterpiece has come along leaves me on a forward sprint.
With luck, the new book will be out sometime next year. I'm taking it slow. This idea means a lot, and it deserves to be told in the best way possible.
Even if that means I get my ass handed to me every time I send in a new chapter for critique.
