I don't know about other artists but for me, putting my art out here was a slow process. I always find it difficult to show my creations, but at one point, when I saw the paintings I'd done over the years gathering dust in the corner (folder), I felt guilty, like I was neglecting my children. So I set them free. And when people expressed desire for prints, I started selling prints. I didn't have a specific plan or goal in mind.

My advice would be start today, be consistent, have patient, do research about the market, the audience. Have faith in your creations, keep making what brings you joy and your creations will, in turn, bring joy to others. When it comes to the commercial aspect, be reasonable and respectful, of yourself, your art, and your audience.

Hi I love your prints and I was wondering if you would ever consider adapting your designs for phone backgrounds and adding them to your shop?

Almost all of my paintings is in 1:1 ratio so adapting to phone ratio might mean cutting out a lot of details, which pains me, as a detail-greedy person, to no end. I also need to redraw the frames again, which I'm too lazy to do 🤭

I might paint in different ratios in the future, but for now, I enjoy the 1:1

My favourite artists would probably be Yoshitaka Amano, Mai Yoneyama, Yoriyuki Ikegami and Kitty Crowther. As for artists of the past, I love Grandma Moses, Van Gogh, Hokusai and Hiroshige.

I also admire the works of the artist with user name rei_17 on X, and andatsea (3 days march) and decomposedmaw on Tumblr.

My drawing process and technique are pretty simple so I don't know how to make a tutorial tbh.

Draw the border with the help of mirror/kaleidoscope painting tool

Draw the main line art

I use a pencil brush to fill in the colours, hatching like how I would on real paper

Reblog is the button on the left of the "like" button at the end of a post. Reblogging someone's post is like making a shortcut for a file, other people can see that post on your blog and it links back to the original poster's blog, which is okay.

Repost is when you take the content of other's blog and post it again on your blog as an original post, like copying a file, which is not okay.
