“He has more gray in his eyes than you do.”
Why do you know that Will? Why were so close to his face to know that?
“He has darker freckles on his shoulders than you do.”
How do you know that, Will?
Thoughts swarmed around in Mike Wheeler’s head. His history homework long forgotten as his focus was now directed on Richie and Will. Giggling in hushed whispers as they sat across from him in the Wheeler’s basement. Max was sitting with them as well. Snorting at a few jokes and punching Richie’s arm at moments as well. And as the spring rain hit the windows, with the few loud booms of thunder rocked the sleepy town, Mike Wheeler had to wonder to himself,
Why did his cousin Richie Tozier have to move in with them?
Why did he and Will have to meet?
Why did he and Will start to date?
But Mike Wheeler is a liar. He’s a damn liar if he says he doesn’t know why he chose him. But he would much rather be a liar than admit his own feelings.
“Do you wanna kiss me, Byers?”
“Say yes Byers…I don’t think I can hold on anymore…”
And then his lips were on his. And his arms around his as they pulled each other closer and closer. And Will doesn’t say anything as he feels a few tears hit his cheek. He only holds the boy tighter and begs two broken hearts can fix each other.
And its been a year. Since Richie moved in. Since they kissed. Since they would call each other boyfriends.
And its been a year. Since Mike regrets. Since Mike still chokes up seeing them kiss. Since he will never be able to hold Will like he does.
