forever a preacher of Jack being horrifically egregiously embarrassingly down bad for Davey. Davey may have fell first but Jack fell INFINITELY harder. he barely even realizes it but he’s so head over heels for Davey that it’s ridiculous. TEXTBOOK definition of puppy love - he stares at Davey with this wistful look on his face, completely zoning out bc all he can think about is how fucking pretty Davey looks when he’s talking. What about, Jack isn’t sure, but he loves looking at him. And he tries to listen, he really does, but when Davey’s sitting there with his gorgeous eyes and his hands gesturing and his perfect mouth moving a mile a minute, well, who can blame him for getting distracted?
Davey’s always known he likes boys.
Jack never considered it till he met davey and was hit with like ‘i need to spend the rest of my life with this boy’

In order of oldest to newest:
1. The Magical Feeling of Falling in Love(i kinda fucked up the fic with this title tbh i do not like it)

Conclusion
For my tlkoe fics it’s pretty obvious that i went for a shorter one liner kind of opening which is something i did not expect tbh. Kind of a straight to the deal, instant hook(?) kind of thing. For my bmc fics i started using longer sentences? And it’s funny because there’s kind of a transition there lol. For ml i tried to do the “start with action scenes” thing which ultimately fucked me up/hj I think the main pattern here is that i either use short one liners that cut to the chase or a longer sentence that also cuts to the chase but gives less of a “ooh what’s happening” kind of feeling. Yeah i like short one liners more they have this weird impact

love after you (is a weight that I can't get away from) - Blocking Sean’s number was possibly one of the hardest things Jeremy had done in a long time.
wasteland, baby - He couldn't breathe.
pumpkin, pumpkin (i need you to feel me) - The cat started showing up on Jake’s doorstep a few weeks after his parents had left for good.
you said it looked better on me - It wasn’t even a big deal to Jake, honestly.
my dirty little secret (who has to know?) - If you’d told Jeremy Heere that he’d make out with Jake Dillinger at a party, he’d laugh in your face and tell you that was so ridiculous he’d never even think of doing it.
perfection is so quick to bore - Jeremy hated Jacob Alexander Dillinger with every fiber of his being.
from his heart's apocalypse - It would have felt like a meet-cute, if it weren’t for the massive swathes of zombies swarming towards them.
where we lay our scene - Jackie Dillinger was Mia’s worst nightmare.
how not to plan for getting laid - Jeremy really should have thought this all through.
an object in motion - Jack Wolff would be a liar if he said he didn’t think about the day that he finally explained everything to Nathan Lee.
Conclusion:
as I suspected: I really like lines that establish character names and motivations, and say the exact opposite of what will actually happen before I establish what WILL happen. or just basic establishment. I'm either fully 100% honest or it's a tongue in cheek "this fuckin idiot lol"

well this was humbling. also i only have 8 fics (besides a WIP-bin)

2. run boy run - Of all the ways Davey had imagined the aftermath of the strike going, this was one outcome he hadn’t planned for.
3. vice, vermin, virtue - Jack's wings are ugly. He knows this.
4. say you came on first (i think you came on fine) - Davey’s late.
4. baby, that's the new vavoom - “Mister Jacobs.”
6. matches - “Jaaaack…” Davey whines, swatting at Jack’s knee like a cat. “Could you-?”
7. i would not ask (and neither should you) - Jack is not the kind of guy who takes things for granted.

conclusion: i like vague titles. i draw you in with possibility and no one leaves happy.

some things to believe in, between me and you - The silver moonlight streaming through David’s open window illuminates the room just enough.

conclusion: i love starting with dialogue or declarative statements. i also love naming fics after noah kahan songs. and i loooove putting david jacobs in situations.

The dance floor is a mess of bodies but Davey manages to carve himself a space amongst the masses, letting himself rock and sway with the thumping bass pounding through the speakers.

The team hasn’t even gotten through their first set of ladders before Albert sidles up to him, scowling darkly.
3. hopes are kindled (with scrapes and ashes)
Once again, the Lady Theophania lays her small, delicate hand across the breastplate of Jack’s armor, batting her lashes in a demure, courtly fashion, and as he watches them David feels the polite expression he’s been wearing for the last half hour start to crack and splinter.
4. possessive kiss 4 - from let’s cut to the chase
“I would’ve thought you’d have stepped in by now.”
5. hungry like the wolf
“So,” Jack starts, once they’ve both gotten their drinks, drumming his fingers against the bar top.
6. take a shot (but how’s your aim?)
For the life of him, Jack can’t figure out how the situation went south so quickly.
7. how ‘bout you tell me what you really think
In Jack’s defense, he’s running on maybe three hours of sleep.

That first time, David doesn’t think anything of it.

Jack pours sugar into two cups of coffee, splashing a bit of cream in one and leaving the other black, then puts the carton back into the fridge and nudges it closed with his hip.

Ciarra reallyyyyyy loves to use parentheses in her titles. Also, four of these titles are song lyrics.
It says A Lot about my update schedule (or lack thereof) that both tie fic and take a shot fic are in my 10 most recently posted fics jc.
I open with either a long, run on sentence in medias res, with a sort of ‘character looking back on events’ type voice, or with a single line of dialogue.

Obviously I like starting in the middle of action. Mostly with dialogue but apparently i also do it in the actions of the characters.
I am, apparently, incapable of starting with long sentences which is ironic because when I talk, the first sentence is the longest one i could possibly conjure.
In the newsies ones, jack is the centre subject in most of them (obviously i played favourites)
