Why I chose Interaction and development design
The answer is a rather simple one; it just took me a while to get here. My original passion was video game design and my mentality was clear, if not a little misguided. If I am going to Have to work everyday, then I want to do something that in a field that I really enjoyed. So I moved out to Vancouver and enrolled in the Video Game Design program. Vancouver is a great city, and the program was a lot of fun; but I did not leave the program with a strong enough portfolio to help me get a job in the industry. Flash forward few years of menial work later. I knew I wanted to go back to school; I wanted to be properly trained to do meaningful work in the digital field. One day at work I was browsing college programs and came across the Interaction and Development Design program. The description of the course seemed incredibly interesting and it motivated me to investigate further. So I set up a meeting with Ramon Delgado the program coordinator; when he spoke about the program he showed so much passion for what he was doing his students work that I knew that This is where I wanted to be; this is where I was going to get a great education and do Meaningful work.
And I haven’t looked back
Code academy has proven to be an amazing resource in learning how to code for websites. The simple step by step process actually was able to get through to me. By the last few pages of the lesson I was challenging myself to do all the code without looking at the examples to see if I could remember what to do and do the code on my own and I was actually very surprised that I could do it myself. The result is very tangible and left me with a sense of accomplishment.
Lesson two
So Much FUN!!!
I really tried to do it without examples and hints and I nailed it!!! Website design here I come!!
