Today the 120th Boston Marathon was held as over 30,000 participants made their way from Hopkinton to Copley Square. Shown above is the family meeting area where tired runners greet loved ones after completing their 26.2 mile trek.
Bristol, Rhode Island is home to the oldest Fourth of July parade in America, dating back to 1785. The small New England town takes pride in this title and maintains a red,white and blue traffic line year-round. Dozens of high school marching bands from all over the United States perform in this televised town parade. Photos by Cade Belisle

On Sunday February 1 the New England Patriots won the Superbowl. Seconds later students of UMass Amherst poured out of dorms to celebrate the victory of their beloved football team. Participants were meet not with riot gear or smoke bombs but instead with restrained police officers who did not interfere with the non-violent, chanting, crowd.Â
On Friday Jan 30. The UMass Ski and Board Club held their fifth annual Winter Fest where dozens of participants competed with their best moves for a shot to be number one.

On Monday the UMass community rallied to protest the recent events and lack of indictment for Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri. Hours before Chancellor Subbaswamy sent an email informing the entire campus of the event and encouraged support for it. Election Day 2014 at the Massachusetts Daily Collegian. Tuesday night reporters and editors at the University of Massachusetts Amherst's student newspaper stayed up late to examine results as the state chose a new governor.
Residents and students in Amherst turned out for Tuesday's midterm election where there the next Massachusetts governor will be decided as well as several ballot measures. Student voter Andrew Stranberg (above) said, "I just wanted to cast my vote, it's important" when asked why he voted Tuesday. The UMass senior said he voted in 2012 and stopped by the polls today after class. Ben Hutchins (below) shows his 'I voted' sticker.
