What are your rules of writing?

Death

So this is pretty intense, but it actually happened: I watched someone die yesterday. Still processing it, but will definitely write more about it once I’ve had a chance to gather my thoughts.

Early responses include:

1. Watching someone die is profoundly experiential;

2. It absolutely changes you forever, rearranging your priorities and opening your eyes to the shit that really and truly matters in life;

3. Death isn’t a thing to be feared;

4. Watching someone die is both a loss and an extraordinary gift;

5. The previous four points may be cliches but, then again, so is death. After all, everyone does it, and like sex, how they do it varies a lot less than you might think.
