Damn it, Rosier, what did you expect? Evan thought to himself, pacing back and forth in the dorm room. He knew agreeing to go out with Barty Crouch Jr. of all people was a terrible idea. They’d agreed to meet in the dorms at 7 and it was already nearing 8. For all he knew, Barty could be snogging some random person across the castle! Evan knew the boy’s reputation and still said yes to a date with him. Why? Because how the hell was he supposed to deny someone who looked like that. And talked like that. And-
Evan huffed. This was stupid. He wasn’t going to just wait around for Barty anymore, if he didn’t want to show up then fine, he must not have really wanted to go out in the first place. Evan turned, about to walk out of the room when he was met with none other than Barty Crouch Jr. himself. Well, shit, he supposed he had to stay now.
“Took you long enough,” Evan grumbled, crossing his arms.
“Yeah, sorry Ev, I was trying to set something up.” Barty said, grinning in a way that was almost apologetic. Almost. Evan wasn’t sure Barty was even capable of a sincere apology.
Evan just sighed. “Whatever. What’re we doing, then?”
Barty didn’t even answer, just grabbed Evan’s hand and pulled him all the way from the dorm to the room of requirement.
“Ta-da!” Barty stood in front of the room, after actually opening it, as if it were someplace special.
Evan however, was not amused. The room of requirement seemed kind of basic for a date of any sort. But, he decided to give Barty the benefit of the doubt. So, he followed him into the room and…
…was pleasantly surprised at what he saw. Evan knew the room of requirement was designed to accommodate whatever was needed at a moment’s notice, but he hadn’t been expecting his date to actually plan this out so well. Barty said he’d set this up beforehand and wow, Evan was actually shocked.
The entire room was lit up by dim fairy lights, like the kinds Evan’s sister was always so obsessed with. They twinkled dimly, allowing the room to have a warm atmosphere that was somehow dark and yet entirely lit up.
“I didn’t take you as much of a romantic, Crouch.”
“Yeah, well,” Barty shrugged, grinning. “it’s just for you, Rosie. Better not get used to it though, this was a lot of work.”
Evan laughed. He hadn’t expected this to be a regular thing anyway.
