(Highly recommend zooming in on our dear Louis and Lestat if you're on phone, because the texture blurs at phone size. Also uploaded a little detail if that helps!)

explained to an 8 year old that once a fruit is ripe you only have so much time until it rots so you have to eat it soon and she said so i'll never be able to keep it perfect like this forever? no and there are about a million pieces of art for you unrelatedly
the scariest thing about old tv isnt really the racism or the sexisim because you kinda go in braced for that it's all the scenes where suddenly an actress is holding a lion cub or a chimpanzee is in the same room as a toddler, or suddenly theres a lion, or there's a chimpanzee again but it's driving a car, or holding a lighter, or holding fireworks. You just kind of watch in horror as over and over an actress performs with only 1960s tv film shootings best animal handling between her and the opening to Nope.
This is how I learn that the famous chimp my dad got my nickname from tried to kill Reagan. Fuck yeah.
Okay one last thing about The Vampire Lestat on AMC and then I stop:
fucking bravo to the goddamn actors.
I had so many issues with this season, and so many of them acted the fuck out of it without having a lot in the material to support them. If anyone in this entire production is good at their jobs, it's the casting department; they are better than the writing deserves.
I especially want to highlight Joseph Potter (Nicki), Sheila Atim (Akasha), and the MVP of me having any part of a good time this season, Damien Atkins (Magnus), but so many of the smaller performances were great too.
Delainey Hayles is a magnetic actress and deserves a great career for decades to come, Jacob Anderson kept doing the work and should have been in award contention for season one, and Assad Zaman deserved to have gotten the amount of screentime his character warranted from the source material so he could murder the fuck out of performing it, because he would have, and it would have been awesome.
Sam Reid: like, fuck, what can I even say, man. Selfishly, I wanted the season to be good because you play a great goddamn Lestat, and even when the script was working against you you turned in a great Lestat, and as someone who is mourning the adaptation we could have had in so many ways... thank you for caring as much as you do, and being a fantastic actor, and doing as much as you could to bring this performance together for people who care about this character as much as I do?
Even though I hated the season, I saw that, and I really, really appreciated it.
okay, i’m curious. let’s play a game. reblog this post and put in the tags the name of a fictional Indigenous character.
No headcanons, no ‘coding’, only CANONICALLY Indigenous characters. You have unlimited time. Go.
if another FUCKING person mentions the fucking werewolves from twilight I'm going to burn this whole site down and take you all with me

attempting to get wife into some horror. she couldn't watch more than 15 minutes of the thing. however she loved Ravenous and is now trying to find fanfic
yes I know ha ha very funny I married a woman who also likes sexualized metaphors for cannibalism as narrative devices but also being so real here IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU
i did marry a woman who i also showed Ravenous lmao

I imagine it was a lot of sitting around in between causing volcanic eruptions
We stood in our crypt with the two ornate sarcophagi before us. I lay my hand on the lid of the one which was mine, and quite suddenly there came over me another presentiment, that all I loved would endure for a very brief time.
Marius must have seen this hesitation. He passed his right hand through the very fire of the torch, and touched his warmed fingers to my cheek. Then he kissed me where this warmth hovered, and his kiss was warm.
The Vampire Armand
there is literally No canon justification for drawing teskhamen this way i just do it regardless
If you felt let down by the television series The Vampire Lestat, can I recommend a really good book you might enjoy that might take your mind off it? It's totally different, but I know it always makes me feel better when I read it.
So it's called The Vampire Lestat and it's by Anne Rice-
okay so i saw you joking about how the labubu shit wouldnt age well on TVL... and yknow what's so funny to me about how shallow and short-sighted this writing is? I was feeling the same way about them putting Covid into s1 because like. That's such a weird performative gesture to make in the moment but it doesn't age well when you take TWO YEARS between seasons. So in the canon timeline like, how long passed before s2, like a week? A few days? They forgot about covid in a few days??? Was it ever mentioned again? Daniel goes from making this like life risking flight as an immunocompromised senior to going out to sushi maskless? lol ? I remember that first wave of TV shows coming out after Covid where you can see people debating whether or not to include it and it's like. You gotta ask - what does it add to the story? Will it age well? Is this a gimmick we want to keep up spanning multiple seasons & crossover series in the larger universe? Are we being performative and are we subjecting our audience to realism when they're trying to enjoy a silly supernatural show that doesn't take place in our real world? Does it affect the continuity of the story going forward? (Which like not to get into another rant but like the way the lore on this show is absolutely ass, they dont care about continuity at all but whatever.) I just remember even at the time when the show came out people's covid consciousness had waned so even THEN it was like "Oh wow look aat this show that was written 2 years ago" and I screaming at the TV like PEOPLE DIED, ROLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP FUCKIN AROUND. Whatever guys!!!!!!!! anyway wanted to say that.
I remember thinking that was at least bold at the time and yeah lmao now it's sooo dated particularly because they Did Not Commit
the show constantly suffers from Not Committing. it makes bad choices and then makes worse choices trying to undo them. just make a fucking choice!
