College physics is beating my ass rn, it does not help that the teacher keeps making us design our own experiments and writing reports on it. I’m trapped in a purgatory of my own decisions.

It also does not help that one of my lab partners thinks three sentences with bullet pointed steps for the experiment is a good paragraph for the report.
Went and watched Iron Lung today, absolutely loved it. I’m rambling, there’s nothing of substance here lol. I really like the narrative and how it plays out and the cinematography absolutely captures the narrative. Also I thought people were lying when they said the movie could’ve been longer, but it totally could have! It didn’t even feel like two hours had passed I was so drawn into it! I would have loved to see more of Simon’s character but it was explained very well (if you paid attention at least)(my friends and I missed the first ten minutes because we got ID’d and someone had to go find their ID but I filled them in on a bit of the exposition stuff before we got there)
Some of my buddies mostly went just because I wanted to go so they didn’t have the prior information about the movie but they still thought it was cool; I really liked that it wasn’t just jumpscare horror and loud noises, it relied more on emotions to make you anticipate something happening and I feel like my buddies (though they had a good time) would have more fun if they were more into cosmic horror and the unexplained (especially if the unexplained remains unexplained) (they had so many questions! I had No Clue why because it made sense to me that not everything was explained but also they like actually understanding things, maybe I just really like there being room for hypotheses) (no shade to my beloved friends <3)
I’m rambling so much, I was just really happy to see the movie. I’m so proud of Markiplier for breaking Hollywood and it’s lackluster movies (I feel like I just haven’t been enjoying mainstream movies for a good while) (too safe, sticking to the script, nothing new, and if there is then it’s just kinda…. Y’know???)

Sometimes being in college feels like a fever dream, because. What do you mean the chem professor dressed up in full sports gear and got the physics teacher to shoot him with a ping-pong ball at 600mph????
Bro willingly let this happen and the gear didn’t even protect him, the ball managed to hit the single unprotected spot on his rib
Then again this is the same chem teacher that has lit his eyebrows on fire, shocked himself with a balloon several times, and not only handled dry ice bare handed— but proceeded to pop it into his mouth like gum. And just the toaster bath barbie demo in general, There’s more but that’s just off the top of my head
not me forgetting that I have tumblr, in my defense I have been very very busy. So now I’m gonna give Way too Much information.
CW: dissection and bones, much detail (I’m a biology major)
So to start with my most exciting thing, I got to do a pig dissection! I was awaiting this day like a curse waiting to be released.
I got into the lab and lo and behold the smell of formaldehyde hits me like a wet sack of bricks, doors and windows are as open as this lab allows. Honestly, formaldehyde is not half as rancidly smelling as I assumed it would be, but still. And the professor is just like “okay, well, it’s not a hard lab just dig around inside of it and have fun.”
So we all grab our pigs, I don’t have a buddy in this class so everyone else partners up and I’m lucky enough that there is four groups and five pigs, so I got to do it alone; if I had to go up to someone and ask to be part of their group, I would’ve simply walked out the classroom. So we get the pigs and the teacher gives us a few more instructions and then just walks around to see if anyone needs help.
Now, some of the pigs were vacuum sealed into bags, the one I got was vacuum sealed to hell and back, this damn pig was SCRUNCHED and I had to cut the bag open and be greeted with the STIFFEST dead pig ever. Now rigor mortis makes things really stiff, but then vacuum sealing it and leaving it like that for who knows how long? You might as well have gotten one of those plastic animal toys at walmart. And trying to properly splay it over the dissection tray was literally horrible because it was so stiff and I thought any movement of the limbs would end up breaking them. I don’t know why but apparently breaking bones is where I draw the line, because I there was a section in the lab where we were instructed to break the jaw bone to see inside the mouth and as I pulled on the mouth in attempt to do that My Entire Body Froze in what I can only describe as a full body gag because I was physically cringing so badly. Handling a scalpel? Perfectly fine. Messing with organs? Great. Breaking a bone? Sorry man, the brain sent a neural signal to activate the fight or flight response and now you want to puke.
All things considered I actually got it splayed out pretty decently, and now I could just look at the diagram from our lab papers and cut along the lines it tells us to cut which is one long cut down the middle and then a few on the sides to actually see the abdominal cavity. Now remember when I said this pig was vacuum sealed to hell and back? Well all the intestines were squashed together and literally you could Not tell the small intestine from the large intestine, hell, we couldn’t even see which reproductive system it had because everything was smushed together.
But anyway, I actually had a lot of fun looking at the different organs that I could see, the liver was literally gigantic, the textbook diagrams they show doesn’t do it justice because it takes up so much space in the body. After looking at the heart and lungs and such I got kinda bored (it was also like two hours since the start of class) and I was hungry so I flagged down the teacher and asked what to do with the used tools so I could clean up.
But of course I can’t be a normal person for more than a millisecond so the way I asked was “i’m hungry, and I want to go home. What do I do with the tools?”
But that’s fine because there were other people actively talking about dinner and salivating over what they planned to eat while knuckles deep in pig organs.
Welp, I’m done yapping, maybe I’ll post more art or something soon.
