Honestly, Iād put in a detailed complaint in writing. Iāve been a librarian (not a Libra, Apple, so stop changing it) for 22 years, and that does not sound right, especially for such an enormously busy city system.
nah iām not in the business of escalating stuff - feels a little petty. but i am going to roll my eyes about it for a few minutes on my blog!
yes, i care about not being treated like a baby for damage that i didnāt do (and have never done before). if iād damaged the book iād eat the fee and pay it happily
$30 is crazy unless the book was like completely destroyed omg
she told me she removed it from circulation and threw it out š so idk what happened lol. this was *not* the book i was reading at the pool the other day either, thatās how i know it couldnāt have been me! went straight from my apartment to the library
i bet you that person is either new or their manager has cracked down on staff not catching water damaged material before it's returned. water damage is really bad for library returns because if one book has water damage and it's not caught, and mold grows, it can spread to other material. if a customer comes up to the desk with a water damaged book and is like this wasn't me but just wanted to let you know this had water damage, i won't hold them accountable for that lol
oh yeah my issue isnāt with preventing damage. itās that iām obsessive about taking good care of books (hence the 10 year library record with zero damage fees ever) and for her to go to this length for something that i can prove wasnāt my fault when i receive damaged books constantly isā¦.a little nuts?
Ugh as a librarian that annoys me because we so often reassure people that if a book is damaged when you check it out we're not gonna blame you for it. AND to make you come in and return things at the desk for a first offense ? Maybe it's just bc I work in the children's department but I wouldn't even want to do that if it WAS your fault. Discouraging library use!
this woman is a real stickler, like every time she checks out my books, she tells me i need to start returning things more promptly (even though NYPL doesnāt issue late fines) and check out fewer books if i canāt read them quickly, even if things arenāt overdue. she was like āthis was the only book in the bin with damageā and i was like ācool, but that doesnāt mean i did it?ā anyway iām pissed off enough that iām probably going to start using another branch temporarily, at least for returns. i donāt have the patience to page through every single book i check out and report/document every instance of damage for a year because of her power trip. she told me that even if thereās a line, iāll have to tell people that i need to hand something directly to the librarian moving forward š
i think about taylor saying āi went through two breakups during this tour, which is actually a lot of breakupsā quite frequently it is one of the funniest things sheās ever said to me
itās soooooo wry and blunt it made me giggle too (and her saying the tour was the thing that got her through all the shit going wrong in her personal lifeā¦..warm)
I donāt think sheās particularly putting more pressure on TS13 than usual. I do however worry that some fans are placing all the expectations in the world on it because itās TS13 (and because they hated showgirl), and Iām not sure how well that will ultimately end up, but thatās not Taylorās problem š¤·āāļø
most fans will love it, a small but loud group will hate it and try to bring everyone down with them, but then come around later. i can predict everyone i followās reaction to a taylor album before it even comes out at this point. so much of the discourse is not genuine that it feels simply irrelevant to me
do you think she's going to make ts13 ~extra special~ because it's the 13th album or will she treat it like any other release? the numerology stuff is always fun but idk if it's good to put extra pressure on something because it's her favorite number
she tries to make every album extra special and puts a ton of pressure on it, thatās why she is the artist she is
