“Hey!” Hands cupping around his mouth, M. hardly flinches from the way his voice booms across the street. A little drama never hurt, but most of all — this man lacked any shame. Thus, he skitters across the street ( almost gets love tapped by a stopping taxi ) and quickly links arms with the other's once close enough.

“Seriously, every night I say good night to you, and every night you never say it back. What’s the deal? Do you not want me to have a good night?” Every night as in just yesterday. Miss one and he’s forced to take on the personality of an ailing widower.

No matter how long liv stared at that map, things didn't make sense. She kept a face like "Who the hell still reads maps, WHY a map?" Well, maybe living in a big city had those things, It hadn't been long since she'd moved from her small, snow-covered town and now she was having to deal with confusing streets and huge neighborhoods, perhaps the address of her future work, the music store, would fall from the sky?

She waited patiently for a pleasant-looking soul to pass by so she could start a conversation and bingo. "YOU! You look like someone who lives here, can you help me? I need to get to my future job and I don't know the address. I mean, I know, but I don't know how to get there and I don't want to be fired without even having started and I don't want to read a map. Will you help me or not? Please?"

⸻ Arturo Del Toro, dressed in a finely tailored suit, stood at the edge of the lavish ballroom during the royal Masquerade. He watched as everyone twirled and whirled under the glittering chandeliers (was that someone hanging off of one? Actually, that isn't your problem. Avert your eyes, Turo.), the music beckoning with it's hypnotic melody. Though a hint of longing tugged at him to join the festivities, Arturo found himself preoccupied with a tray of champagne, begrudgingly downing flute after flute as the night went on.

His eyes never left the dance floor, where his mistress, Domi De Sade, seemed to have found a new dance partner. Each graceful step she took, each smile bestowed upon her companions, grated on the mortals nerves. He took another sip of his drink, annoyance brewing beneath his facade of composure.

"Not that it's my business," he spoke, not bothering to glance at the person reaching for an hors d'oeuvre beside him, "but I wouldn't eat that if I were you." Arturo kept his stare fixedly on the people dancing, his gaze clouded with a mixture of bitterness and longing.

"You Selphians are usually messy," he added, the bitterness obvious in his tone, "but it's hit an all new level tonight. The food is drugged, or, well, enchanted. Obviously." He sighed, his resentment and yearning for a different kind of night palpable in the air around him, as the Masquerade ball continued in all it's dazzling, maddening glory.

"Leave me alone, those hors d'oeuvres got cheese in 'em!" Tristan Goodman's muffled voice and slurred words came from under the table with only his lower body sticking out from the fancy royal blue tablecloth. He was on a hunt. For a monster. A monster that was about as big as his hand, maybe even smaller than that. He saw the little sparks from its teleportation come from under the table, hence his current position there. Not that his predicament would cause much ruckus around the ballroom. After all, there was an absolute madness of a party happening outside. His backside was the least people had to worry about.

Miraculously enough, he still had his champagne glass half full in his hand as he squinted in the darkness, trying to find the fae creature. See, Tristan didn't have one bite to eat at the ball, leaving him immune to the effects of the spores that created a frenzy in people's minds. He did, however, had copious amounts of champagne with nothing in his belly to really soak it up, so saving the ball was seeming to be a lot more difficult than he thought.

Yes. Danny Reyes was dangling from a chandelier. His legs hooked into it, and the rest of his body hanging upside down, his bunny ears magically still on his head. The same bunny ears he bought only for the occasion when somebody would ask him what he dressed up as, since the rest of his outfit seemed like a completely normal one for another night out in Selphia. Such an occasion happened multiple times however, and by the end he just cowled, pointed at the white fluffy ears among his curls and said "I'm a bunny, asshole."

But back to the chandelier business. He couldn't really remember who it was that asked him to try and catch the Mirage Element, but he took it as a challenge. One stupid little vermin would not be better than him in teleportation!

Except he got stuck.

"I think I'm gonna hurl--" He muttered as the contents of his stomach threatened to come out from the unual position he was in.

He always feels guilty for taking a lunch break, however the dizzy nausea was impeding his ability to treat people and the scolding from his co-workers had finally forced him to step out of that tent and find somewhere to grab lunch and a drink and take a breather. He gets to the front of the queue and squints at the menu "Um, can I please get a number three and... a sprite?" he smiles brightly at the person taking his order and digs out two ten phil notes, indicating for whatever change there was to be put into the tip jar "thanks" he nods as he's handed his ticket and instructed to go and wait while his food is made. He ambles over to the emptiest looking bench, with only one other person occupying it. "Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here?" he gestures towards the empty seat and waits for a response, ticket being absently folded and unfolded in his long fingers.

his face was a canvas of colorful bruises, and he could feel the bandages that crisscrossed his battered body. the room was sterile, filled with the faint, antiseptic smell that he'd come to associate with hospitals. the last time he was fully conscious, he was back at the medical tents behind the area of the Glitz Blitz. Skeeter, instead, lays in his hospital bed, nursing a particularly swollen eye. in his hand, he held an ice cream cone, a small comfort in the midst of his discomfort. it was pumpkin-flavored, a seasonal treat that brought a flicker of nostalgia to his white- culture.

with a mischievous glint in his eye, Skeeter couldn't help himself as he began to quote one of his favorite movie lines, re-enacting the famous scene from Forrest Gump. "Lt. Dan! Ice cream!" he exclaimed with a chuckle, offering a grin that was slightly hindered by the swelling. it was a moment of levity in what had been a whirlwind of events. and sure, his head still hurt, and he had broken a couple of bones in his body... but making jokes out of serious ordeals was the only way to go about living life. now, if only someone would listen. the poor imbecile had yet to be conscious for a single visitation.

"Come on, hang out and get some free ice cream," he shouts to no one in particular.

Storefronts were never quite as alluring to Judas unless if they were filled with sweets. Although, she was not there for the sweets as much as she was for the memories. The smell of sweet bread wafted out each time the door swung open. Yet, she was careful not to enter. "What ever happened to discounts for veterans?" She grumbled, attempting to pull a passerby into mutual contempt with her, "They might be the most renowned bakery in Selphia, but they certainly are the most outrageously exuberant! Back in the old days, shops were far more responsive to the community -- or they paid the price with the sword and now look! They rob us of a week's salary for a mere box of chocolates!"

the tournament was certainly an event leonore would intentionally avoid. despite the cover of the crowd, the amount of security could prove a troublesome affair if she weren't careful. and she generally had little interest in the workings of the crown, these days. unfortunately, with the supposed completion of necessary repairs, the knight's presence was practically deemed a requirement for the retrieval of her favored weapon, now residing in marc's capable hands.

she was also hoping to avoid a certain someone, and the excuse proved rather useful there as well.

"my apologies," she offers quietly, her shoulder brushing past another as the hood of her cloak rests low to obscure her features from immediate view. the next of her words fall as her gaze briefly meets the other. "would you perhaps be able to direct me to the blacksmith's location? i'm somewhat .. turned around, it seems." considering all that lay between her and her apparent destination, perhaps she should have expected such an outcome. there was a wonder cast towards the thought of iona, and whether they reached their dear friend as intended.

with her eyes brazenly fixed on the magical battle unfolding before her, Sif stood amidst the bustling crowd on the lower levels of the stadium that held the Glitz Blitz. her fingers interlock between the hexagonal chainlink barrier as she looks on with her guards hiding in plain sight in case something were to go wrong. she had deliberately chosen to watch the match from the common spectator area, away from the VIP box seats where the other House Heads sat. Rook's incessant provocations and vexing remarks had driven her to near madness. here in her own little bubble she can finally watch as her fellow Fraser warrior makes their Head of House proud. 

her attire, though elegant as always, lacked the opulence of her usual regal gowns. instead, she wore a more practical ensemble—a fitted sweetheart neckline jumpsuit in a deep cabernet satin material, allowing her freedom of movement. the pink crown of roses, however, still adorned her hair, a symbol of her heritage that she refused to forsake even in this moment of gladiator glory. her presence didn't go unnoticed, for even amidst the excitement of the matches, the people recognized their Lady Seraphim. whispers spread through the crowd like a gentle ripple. shame or curiosity shone in each of their individual eyes. 

she had been chosen– nominated by likely hundreds of people to fight in the Blitz, but her advisors, ever protective of her well-being, paid the hefty one billion phil penalty for cancellation on her behalf. part of her regretted that decision, but another part understood their concerns, knowing that her involvement in such combat could lead to dangerous consequences. she tried to put on a brave face, to smile brightly as an observer, but her mind kept drifting to the thoughts of what could have been. she longed to stand within the arena, to showcase her abilities and prove her strength to everyone watching.

Sif's gaze was focused on the two combatants, her eyes assessing their tactics and strategies. the magic crackling in the air drew her in. cheers erupted from the crowd, as House Fraser lands another lethal blow and Sif joined in, her applause mingling with the voices of the common folk. for a brief moment, she felt like one of them–– united in the joy and exhilaration of the match. she feels a genuine smile sparkle, and in just the right moment, her face turns to the one beside her. “She’s brilliant isn’t she?” she speaks of the warrior rose taking her defensive pose. “She makes me so proud.” she finds it almost cruel to admit that–– that the fighting brought her such joy. “Have you been enjoying the Blitz as well?”

Goings-on like this, no matter their obvious intention, are always worth keeping an eye on.

Lex is here as something of an ear, listening for public sentiment (aside from what the royal family wants people to think) and even keeping an eye out for recruits. He doesn't exactly relish watching combat play out, and he definitely hates these noisy crowds more than anything (how can it get so loud? to the point where everything just feels like blurry static?) but it's still somewhat interesting to be here.

The first rounds are always interesting when you've got some experience with combat. Though his apparent non-affiliation allows him comfortably not to participate in the fights, he's sure he'd survive these first rounds, unless he got very lucky. They tend to end fast in a boring way, or last a very long time in a boring way. Very few talents versus talents, simply idiots flailing at one another or being instantly knocked out.

Though apparently he's the only one who feels that way. His ears are ringing from the screaming and cheering, and given that now, during the break when everyone is grabbing food or alcohol, it's just as loud as ever, he's got a killer headache. It's impossible to take in any new sensory input, and maybe that's why he completely failed to realise he was being spoken to until he accidentally looked over and saw someone waiting for his reply.

"What?" He can't even hear his own voice.
