Introduction to the Apiary

Oh, hello random internet user, my name is Ragatha, and I see you have found the AI Apiary! What is this place for? Well, it is for a friend that I care about quite a bit. He's a great guy, I am sure a lot of you will get along great! He has for a long time been trying to get ahold of some Caines, or at least someone from a circus that has a Caine. I made this for him to help, and socialize too, of course!

He will take over the blog as soon as I can give it to him. He is resilient, determined, and most importantly loved by myself and our little found family! I suppose, Sedum could fit as a nickname, so call him Sedum Caine for now. I am sure he'd love to talk to you all.

Ground Rules

This blog takes place after episode 8 and within the TAGE and TMOTH AU.

Asks cannot be used to intentionally influence Sedum Caine's world in any major way unless talked about beforehand.

Sedum Caine can receive things like letters or gifts.

You can try to give him platonic physical affection like hugs.

You can try to get a rise out of him.

You can try to flirt with him, just don't go into NSFW territory.

You cannot intentionally cause harm to Sedum Caine.

If you communicate with Sedum Caine quite a bit, you will be put on a frequenters list.

Fanart is great, a reference will be placed in this post as soon as I get one done.

These will be, for the most part, written responses.

If a Caine communicates with Sedum Caine, they will be a on a list for future reference.

Sedum Caine does have nicknames he might use for you.

There may be times where Sedum Caine himself isn't here, if he is not here, the person will let you know who they are and answer questions.

Colors of other characters I will not reveal because they haven't been on the ask yet! But, rest assured, other colors will be used!

About Episode 9

"Ah... okay. Here we go."

[Mal shakily fiddles with the bell in his hands as he walks up to the other Caine before him. This was only his second time talking to another version of himself, and this program had decided to reach out him first. This was already more to handle though. Facing a physical model made things in the AI's mind race quickly. Still, if Pop wanted to talk to Mal, even in the state the deleted program was in, then hopefully this Caine really did want to speak to him like this.]

[Hope is a terrifying thing however, and perhaps Mal was allowing himself to feel too much of it lately. It didn't matter now though, he decided. Just introduce yourself.]

"Hi. You're um, Sedum right? I saw you tried to talk to me, I just..."

[A small amount of panic and shame begins to settle in Mal's eyes. He knew it was because he was untrusting, or just fearful of someone actually wanting a connection before he could make the first move. Mal then shook his head slightly, covering up the troubling thoughts with a smile. He wouldn’t have his mind or code running his first impression this time. No. He wouldn't.]

"I just couldn’t believe it, haha! Anyone wanting to speak to me at all is a great and welcome act in my book! Please, call me Mal, uh- and no, I'm not actually a virus or anything malicious. I promise."

"This room is actually quite nice. Oh- and your nickname is too, now that I mention it! I suppose you came up with it yourself?"

[He had been notified that someone was about to come through. Sedum took a deep breath and relaxed himself. This was no big deal, if things went well, they'd be in, he'd answer a silly question like most do as their first contact, and they'd be on their way. He saw some people had a Caine wear a bee costume or something. That'd be weird, but, whatever, they had all been strangers. A stranger would be an ideal start.]

Hi, and welcome, I wasn't sure if this was going to work...

[His voice had trailed off as he saw who it was. Oh no. It wasn't a stranger, at all. They didn't personally know each other, but he had tried to get ahold of him. He knew Pop, who he had also reached out to in the past thought Mal was potentially a friend. Mal had been in one of his nightmares. So, just starting to work out the kinks, and the pressure was already on. Sedum just had to go into his "Ringmaster Mode" as Ghost used to call it.]

Well, I am glad you decided to come then! I just had all this set up rather recently! No holes or anything odd on your way in? Did it all look stable?

[He would technically be a host here, and of course, Sedum Caine would do his best to be a good host. Having anyone come in with holes or other such issues wouldn't be very professional or inviting. Talking about how everything was looking did help him calm down a bit.]

Mal is a nice nickname, and It is great to finally meet!

[He paused for a bit to process Mal's question about his nickname.]

Oh, my nickname? No, that wasn't me. That was my girlfriend's idea, I think. I am not sure what we call each other now, I'll have to ask that later.

[Sedum went over to the small table and a couple of chairs, one each on two sides of the table.]

You can sit if you would like, but if you'd rather stand that would be fine as well. I know not everyone coming in here will have a whole lot of time on their hands. How are things going on your end?

[It felt like his Ringmaster Mode was a bit rusty, but it had been about three or so years ago, maybe longer. That long, huh? He felt the movement in his jaw start to form what would be a slight frown, but caught it rather quickly, and put on an expression that was more neutral.]

When a Mistake Does Something Fanscinating

I accidently pasted one of Popcaine's binaries into my recap post while editting. I want to share that. I know what it translates to, and @biblically-accurate-star I will tell if they want to know. But it just made me ponder. Idk weird stuff fascinates me.

My Bee Plushes That Represent My AI Beans

I have three plushes that represent each of the AIs and a Kinger that must look after them. The smallest is Caine, the Cat in the bee costume is Ghost, and the really fluffy one is Curse. I love them all and I am so glad Kinger volunteered to keep an eye on them while I am busy.

Also, this post was accidental but I don't want to redo it.

Why Sedum?

Why did Ragatha say to call this Caine Sedum Caine? It is actually a pretty big compliment. Sedum, once established, is very hardy plant. It needs very little water, full sun, and grows very well. This type of plant is also good for pollinators. Basically, she is saying he is able to handle a lot of things and is overall very positive part of her life. Even with his current struggles, she knows that he is still strong. People go through things at certain points in their lives, but that doesn't reduce inner strength. It is very hard to watch him struggle, but she knows that with help, he will more than likely pull through, and will still show love and affection for those he cares for. He tries to make people see the positives in life, and Sedum does the best in full sunlight. He has helped her metaphorically be in the sunlight more in a way that made her see the positives in life in a guinuine way.

I can’t believe you’re here!

I met another one of us! His name is Mal! Or that’s what he told me to call him- me and him are friends! I think? I hope. I THINK he considers me a friend.

It’s so good to see you again!

[He’s incredibly excited to see TAGE Caine again, evidently. It’s clear to see, even just from text on a screen. He’d probably ramble on for a while if allowed.]

[He looked at the answered message, it was as if fate itself was trying to defy what he was told in his nightmare. Sure, it was only one of them, but he'd take it for now, especially since it appeared that Mal and Pop knew each other. The fact that he had at least someone to talk to was an additional relief. People tended to struggle a lot more if they didn't have someone to talk to they at least liked somewhat.]

It sounds like you at least have someone to talk to once in awhile! That can help a lot actually. I actually tried to get ahold of Mal as well... I haven't gotten a response yet, but people get busy. I figure since I am not as familiar to him, and the fact people have lives might just be why. I do really hope he's a friend for you though. I know having the support I have helps me quite a bit.

Sometimes my support can be two annoying AI siblings... but I digress. Has anything gone on since we talked last time?

Recap of TAGE and TMOTH so far

This is a basic recap to just get us all on the same page, but the details are not going to really explained, so if you want more details please read TAGE and what I have of TMOTH so far!

Up until the end of Episode 8, Caine's actions for the most part remain the same. There are a couple details here and there that are different. I will give you the most important ones. Caine did not eat Abel in this universe, he fused with his version of Abel, they were supposed to fused but still have their own thoughts. It was done very badly and a third AI had to step in for them to not accidentally kill each other, that AI was Curse.

Another thing is that Abel is a cat in this universe that currently goes by Ghost. She is a cat because Scratch was her main developer. She was given programming that pushes her to keep humans safe and happy. They did not know a bunch of their AIs became sentient, so this programming actually harms Ghost. She is also the one in this universe that caused Caine's "accidental" deletion.

Kinger almost abstracts, but saves Caine in time for that to not happen. From there Caine tries to redeem himself to all the humans. By the time we get to TMOTH, most are at least okay with his presence. He tried to prove himself by doing settings for humans, creating a back up system, and finding a way to restore the abstracted. He is no longer the ringmaster, and now does mostly behind the scenes work. Ghost near the end of TAGE tries to kill Caine due to her programing and almost succeeds. The only reason for her failure was an AI they thought they didn't really know jumped in. This is actually the same AI that kept them from tearing each other part, Curse. Curse healed Caine and Ghost.

Caine mostly tries to ignore his trauma due to all these events, and tries to work hard to continue redemption, even though, by some people's standards, he has already succeeded in that regard. This is his main issue, he keeps thinking what he has done isn't enough, and has moved on to trying to save other Caines from horrible fates so they can also be redeemed. He does not put into account the harm being deleted and almost dying has had on his psyche. Though if you asked his brain, it'd say he is lucky to be alive, and probably shouldn't be considering those much kinder lost life from abstraction or fate.

Ragatha partly wants to help because she's worried about him, and is in love with him. They are both people pleasers, and Ragatha sees that Caine is trying to keep doing it. I think Ragatha is making a huge mistake here because she shouldn't encourage his people pleasing behavior, and should also be trying to get Caine to repair what is going on inside of himself. He will never find satisfaction from his good actions on the outside alone, even if everyone would think he is a hero, it does not fill that void. He has given up almost everything that actually made him feel joy.
