Bit of a change of pace when it comes to music. This time Iâm sharing a rock cover of Equilibrium, the battle theme for Sophia, from Final Fantasy XIV.
I've wanted to cover Equilibrium for awhile, and REO was interested in doing a rock mix of it, so this was the result! I really like how it came out, REO did a great job with the instrumentation. It was challenging finding a balance (lololol) between having the whispery quality of the vocals that the original had and giving it enough power to fit a rock song, but I think I managed to find it.
Almost forgot to post this here! Realized the audio got a little weird after uploading to YouTube and SoundCloud. The WAV is downloadable on SoundCloud though if you want to hear the proper quality!

I looooove this song, as soon as I heard it I knew I had to do a cover ASAP. I... did not love mixing it however, it took me awhile, but I put my all into it!
 The main part of the video is actually a recording of my FFXIV character locked in place in /gpose in the Ruby Sea, the water refraction wasn't added in post-processing (the extra shiny lights and such were from using ReShade). Also I entirely changed my astro glamour just for this. I had a lot of ideas based on the vibe of the song and the art Ekkoberry did for it, so I just rolled with it...straight into the ocean...

 So, two or three weeks back, I thought it would be fun to coverăLocusă. Of course, less about doing fancy singing and more just "what wouldăLocusăsound like with female vocals?" I e-mailed âREO ( play-by-play person )â to request the MP3 of his instrumental, after I'd found it on YouTube. REO responded that he wanted to redo the instrumental, and that he would mix it if I sent him my voice files. After we both stumbled over communicating with google translate: here we are! (âżâ âżâ )Â
REO is awesome (and very patient)! Be sure to check out his channel if you get a chance, he has a few song covers on there. Unfortunately if you don't speak japanese, you probably can't really follow his "Let's Play" videos. But hey, music is universal at least.Â

In case anyone is ever wondering:
you can use /gpose in combat
combat however does not stop and the boss will keep moving in the damn window
you cannot execute /gpose while under status effects as if this somehow makes things any worse considering youâre making yourself defenseless while in /gpose anyway
I hope you guys appreciate this screenshot because I must've died to Shiva about 20 times while taking solo combat shots. I originally said I was going to cover this two years ago...better late than never? Video is the result of me pushing buttons in Adobe After Effects and seeing what happens, I'd never used it before this. Let me know what you think, and as usual, any advice on mixing would be greatly appreciated as well.Â
This cover is dedicated to all the amazing friends I've made the past few years, IRL and online/in-game. I doubt I would've made it to see my 26th birthday without them. In my adventures through FFXIV, I've not only made friends across the US, but all over the world. I'm glad to have met you all, and to be able to share my life with you guys (...plus an overabundance of vocaloid videos ^^;).

 I meant to have this out /on/ my birthday (Nov 6th), but there were some technical difficulties. ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ It was actually the first mix I worked on, but I got frustrated with it and set it aside. It was still frustrating to mix when I came back to it, but I cleaned it up the best I could (and learned many a lesson along the way).Â

 Circus-P is one of my favorite producers, and this song really resonated with me regarding a situation from my past. And, y'know, halloween and stuff. Anywho, I've been wanting to start doing song covers for years, but I was too depressed to do anything about it before. I've only been mixing for about 3 weeks, it's a learning process, as is recording myself singing (any tips or critiques on mixing/recording would be greatly appreciated.) Â
