scout gave a soft sigh, holding the cookie back out to her. “yer lucky i love ye.” she said shaking her head. “ye better go ahead and grab another before i take ‘em down there. i did a good job with the tray right? they totally don’ look store bought  and not made by me, do they? ‘cause i told that cute nurse i was makin’ some cookies for the kids, then got home and realized that i’m a terrible cook so i jus’ went and bought some instead.”

“These look delicious, are they for me?” Taylor doesn’t really care for an answer, moving instead to grab a cookie and bite into it paying the other little mind.

Scout reached out, taking the cookie back from the other girl. “No Taylor, they ain’t. Ye’d best leave ‘em alone too. I made ‘em for the kids that got hurt durin’ the attack, y’know---not ye.”

Mystique was beyond relieved to have her grandaughter in her arms. She held her against her, only pulling back momentarily. “Dead?” While she wasn’t as concerned for Kitty’s well-being as her family, she didn’t mind the woman. “I haven’t heard that. I don’t think it’s true.” It couldn’t be. She knew she had children at the school. “I’ve seen some of the injured. Mostly students, unfortunately. I haven’t heard of any deaths. Were you at the school when it happened?”

“They saw her gettin’ carried out on a strecher but it don’ make no sense grandma. I thought nothin’ could hurt her but---if those Sentinels could hurt her what can they do to the rest of us?” she asked with a worried expression. “I was but I didn’ get hurt or nothin’, I helped some of the younger students get out so I missed out on the whole fightin’ that went down.”

Remy clicked his tongue disapprovingly and kissed her on the forehead. “Well I still am. What are you doin’ runnin’ ‘round anyway? Shouldn’t y’be in class?”

Scout shook her head. “Normally I would be. No class today though, I’m supposed to be workin’ on an essay but uh-as ye see, I’m not doin’ that. I”ll get to it though, I promise pops. Its not due for another few days so I’ll work on it tomorrow!”

It all happened so fast and Mystique needed to make sure her family was okay. First the attack and then they were all moved. It was hectic to say the least. Once things were calmed down, she walked through the halls, looking as she headed for the infirmary. It was only a stroke of luck, being in the right place at the right time that she managed to catch sight of her granddaughter. “Scout!” She called out, heading toward her. “Are you okay? Did anything happen to you?”

Scout ran up throwing her arms around her grandma and hugging her tightly. “I’m fine! I’m okay.” she said with a reassuring nod. “I was worried about ye. I haven’t heard anythin’ from anyone else. All I know is a lot of people are hurt. People are even sayin’ Professor Pryde might be dead.” she said, obviously distraught. “Have ye heard anythin’?”

How Remy had come to spend such a large portion of his adult life as a teacher was quite a mystery to everyone involved. An equally astonishing fact, to Remy at least, was that a more accurate professional title might be hero. There was no use trying to rationalize any of it. Maybe it was sheer charm that won him favor in the eyes of the more respectable heroes? Remy didn’t question any part of it. 

He was almost sure he was actually supposed to be teaching a lesson right now. And he would be (really he would) if there hadn’t been a more pressing issues to attend to. Namely that Remy had lost track of something which he probably shouldn’t have brought with him to school today…

“Ah! Pardon me.” He began, just barely avoiding running into someone as he turned the corner. “S’pose I oughta watch were I’m goin’.”

scout slammed into the other figure as she turned the corner, her attention caught up more in the book her hands than where she was actually walking. “oh gosh, i’m sorry.” she said quickly, glancing up at the figure. “oh---its jus’ ye dad. i’m a lil less sorry now.” she teased with a sly grin. “i’m jus’ jokin’----i’m not sorry at all!”

       “Hey Scout! Long time no see!!” After the results of the last history of mutants exam, Mari was in a spectacular mood. She offered the girl one of the sour straws she had been munching on. “How’s the whole crime fighting thing going?”

scout gave the other a smile in return, taking a bite of the sour straw happily. “its goin’. ye know i’d much rather be out doin’ somethin’ with less fightin’ but i gotta name to live up to. maybe mom will gimmie a break if i get cast as the bachelorette or somethin’ and have to pick my wife. i mean first mutant bachelorette would be somethin’ huge, i think. almost as important as fightin’ all the time.”

Luna looked up from her journal, eyebrow raised as she stared at the person in front of her. “Can I help you with something? Or is there another reason you’re standing in front of me?”

scout pulled a flier from a manilla folder in her hands, extending it towards the girl. “my new kitten got out and i’m lookin’ for ‘em. ye haven’ seen ‘em around have ye?” she asked with a frown, glancing around the area. “i uh-didn’ have the money to print a picture on it or nothin’ so i drew one---though i was also out of orange crayons so it’s not completely right. jus’ imagine that drawing but with orange fur and he answers to the name ‘great googly moogly, the big giant cute kitty’ or uh---jus’ ‘whiskers’.”

“It’s utterly ridiculous the amount of students that think it’s okay to skip Danger Room. These simulations are real possibilities. If you can’t even bother to show up you’re simply not cut out to be an hero or even live in a day to day world where these things happen.”

“okay okay, i what yer sayin’. i probably shouldn’ have let ‘em skip but listen, ye can’t blame me. ye know when those lil kids hit me with those puppy dog eyes, i jus can’t tell ‘em no.”
