The 126th Slaughter Ring Slasher now comes to a close with the most unexpected winner of it all — a human named Aspen Ratliff. A mixture of emotions and reactions echo throughout the space, but no one is more surprised than the host himself, Nolan Thatcher. No longer does he present himself with a smile as he claps for the new Champion.
"What a show." Annoyance drips from his lips. "If I hadn't conducted this myself, I'd have thought that this little competition was rigged." His eyes connected with Aspen's. "But unfortunately, it is not, and therefore, your desire must be given to you." Nolan pulled a slip of paper from his pocket and read out loud: "My desire is that I want medicine for humans to be regularly made by witches." He tore the piece of paper in two and then released them. "Simple. It'll be done." A pause. A smile. "There will be a witch, deep within the Dominion, that will create medicine for humans when requested. To obtain the medicine, however, you must meet with them in that territory. Make sure you make your Commander aware of the terms. He doesn't appear to be here any longer to witness your win."
Laughter and cheers came from the crowd. Nolan turned his attention back to them. "That concludes this year's annual Slaughter Ring Slasher! I hope you had a great time and maybe you even came away with more kochba than you came in here with. I know I did." His eyes lifted towards the makeshift thrown he'd placed the Queen of the Merfolk on. "And I hope that you, our lovely Queen Speaker, enjoyed witnessing such a remarkable display of connectivity and community. I promise that there is much more to come and you will be a witness to it all."
OOC: This is the final part of the SRS event, thank you for all who participated and we hope everyone had fun! Against all odds, Aspen Ratliff, representing the Humans, is the winner of this year's SRS — congratulations! Your desire has been granted, albiet in a twisted way.
Everyone is more than welcome to continue threads within this event until they come to a natural end. You can also do flashback threads, if you feel like you didn't get to write something out that you really wanted to!

The final fight — one of these bold, vicious contenders will be the new champion of the sands. Blood soaks the floor, whilst salt and magic creep into the battles, disrupting the natural order. The crowd wonder if it is sabotage, or whether something else is at play. It shocks the spectators, and threatens the lives of the fighters, scratching, clawing and biting for their survival.
Nolan emerges on his stand, grinning like he has already won, and gives his speech:
"Now that's what I call a show. And who'd have thought — a human emerging and walking into the final fight? I sure hadn't." Annoyance etched along his face, his lips thinning while his eyes darted towards the woman who'd seemed to have won thus far, against all odds. "One might wonder if she has a death sentence. Do you think she's aware just how ruthless, and cruel, Demons can be?" His eyes then darted over the crowd, narrowing slightly. "And where's your Commander to witness this? Do you think he's proud? Or has he already begun the preperations for your funeral?"
The crowd joined Nolan in glancing around, as if they would catch sight of the human's Commander. Surely he'd be there to witness such a feat. And yet, no one seemed to have set their eyes on him. Had he been there in the first place? Was he ashamed of such a show? Whispers fell on curious ears as the final two contestants were brought to the ring once more.
In the F I N A L, there is everything to play for — and in the case of WAYFARER and SERPENT, they have more than just their lives at stake. It’s more than ego, and reputation.
It’s the wishes that could change everything they — and Calamity ever know.
Bets are open — and the odds are all against WAYFARER. A demon and a human — most are laughing, and most are speculating that there’s something fixed; maybe the girl is more than she seems?
There’s no interference, and the magic that had snaked its way into the quarters, has been nulled.
For now.
"All prior changes to the arena have been reverted and dispersed. This will be a normal fight — without any advantages that you've gained along the way." Nolan tapped his fingers along the edge of his stand, his smile widening into something unnatural. "May the best species win."
ROUND FOUR ; FINALS
WAYFARER V. SERPENT
E N J O Y spectators, and citizens of Calamity alike, whilst the B L O O D B A T H nears its end.
L E T U S S E E O U R N E W C H A M P I O N !
OOC: Welcome to the Finals! Bets can still be made, IC, however, they no longer have an impact on the fight, itself. There will also be no obstacles in this fight. Both contestants will have to use what they were born with, and their own talents, to try to win for their own species.
We hope you all have a great time with this finale — but it is not over! There will be one more plot drop after this. Stay tuned ;)
Another bloody wave of battle leaves more than egos bruised, a growing heat that emanates from everyone standing inside and outside the Ring. There’s been some heavy hits amongst the fights, as well as some intimate shows of power that most would not expect within the Slaughter Ring.
The lust demons are, in fact, out to play.
"A valiant effort from our champions!" Nolan shouted over the loudspeaker. Then, a chuckle echoed throughout the room. "I wonder if our Queen enjoyed it?" All eyes shifted towards the throne high above the Ring, where Saylor Zander had been placed. She gave nothing away — her face expressionless as she stared out at the crowd. "I'll take that as a yes!"
The crowd cheered as the contestants on the wall were marked out, showing which ones would be up against one another in the next round. "We are getting down to the end, folks! Who do you think is going to win, hm? Who do you want to bet on?" Two Demons, one Human, and a Vampire were all that were left. As if in cue, the crowd of people pushed against one another, pulling out their kochba from their pockets, desperate to gamble for who they thought would take the crown.
"For this next round, there will be a couple of additions," Nolan informed everyone. "In the ring, there will be items that have previously been lost. They want to be found again, you see? But it's your decision, contestants: will you risk your life for a potential leverage?" Fingers of spectators grasped at the edges of the Ring, craning their necks as their eyes scanned the sand. Nothing was visible, but that didn't mean it wasn't there. "What's that saying you humans have?" A cluck of a tongue. "Seeing is believing? So if you can't see it… is it even there?" A low laugh reverberated in the space. "That's for you to decide."
ROUND THREE ; SEMI FINALS
WAYFARER V. THIRST
DEPRAVED V. SERPENT
OOC: Welcome to the third part of the Slaughter Ring Slasher Event! Once again, it will be similar to the first two parts; however, this time, those who are fighting will be rolling for luck. There is an item that could aid — or could derail the match entirely, hidden beneath the sand, and depending on the rolls, your characters might be able to find them. Or, maybe, the dice gods will cause them to be forever lost. Who knows!
There is no helping those who are in the fights this round by influencing this time. Either they win without the help of the spectators, or they lose, just as in the earlier rounds!
The Semi-Finals have no mercy.
Characters do not roll straight away. Instead, they have been issued a scenario in their relevant channels prior to their fight. They will now roll for both their continued survival in the slasher and for skillfully (or less so) managing the challenge presented to them. These could change the odds of the fight from a victory to a devastating loss — or flip the tables entirely; the underdog can never be counted out.

It was a brutal first round; spectators cheering and shouting at the contestants. Bets were placed and kochba was both won and lost. Some of those that others assumed would win, had conceded, while those that some might consider the underdogs came out on top. Not only that, but there was a surprise, amongst the many fights that were had — the Queen of the Forgotten appeared in the ring!
Clearly, after witnessing her siblings in the arena, she didn't want to be the one left out. There was a desperate struggle amongst the three but the Queen, who always appears seemingly strong, was that of a limp fish during the round; shoved to the side like a rag doll by her elder sister. The King could be seen, rushing through the crowd, trying to get into the ring. However, a protective barrier surrounding it, for that one match, prevented him from penetrating.
The announcer ensured everyone paid attention to the spectacle:
"Look at your Queen, citizens of the Forgotten!" A voice over the loudspeaker sounded out. "Does she appear strong to you? Powerful, even? She can't even keep herself on her own two feet, let alone summon water like her brother!" Laughter echoed throughout the room, clouding Saylor's senses. "You know what I think?" The voice asked the crowd. "I think that whomever manipulates the ocean is not even her. Has anyone actually seen her use her magic? Hm? What about that Siren voice of hers? Who's witnessed it?" Louder, confused voices circulate outside of the ring. "She's asking for Peace because she knows her Kingdom would be destroyed if anyone challenged her!"
What is behind the facade of the woman that claims to want Peace? The Mermaid who's mother's bloodied crown was placed on her head after she was murdered? It was very apparent to everyone watching that, in the ring, Saylor was nothing like her mother, Aviana Zander. And if Aviana couldn't survive the brutality of Calamity, why would anyone think that her weak daughter could?
Rumors bounced from lips to ears as the first round came to a close. It was no longer just a communal tournament — but a space to witness the weaknesses of those in power. "Why don't you all thank her for her participation? And how about we give a round of applause to the Commander of her Army, who has just slain his eldest sister!" Claps sounded out in the crowd as the the three Royal siblings were pulled from the ring. The Queen was then placed on a throne of her own, above and across the room from the VIP section.
The air shifted as the contestants who won their first fights prepare for the second round. They seemed confident and ready, and yet, the announcer had another surpise under his sleeve.
ROUND TWO ; QUARTER FINALS
STEPPENWOLF V. WAYFARER
FORGOTTON COMMANDER V. THIRST
DEPRAVED V. FRACTURED MIND
BRAT V. SERPENT
"Before we start the next round, I'd like to explain the changes." Nolan's smile widened as his eyes slid across the room. "Firstly, you can no longer forfeit the matches. You must participate, regardless of who your opponent is." He made eye contact with each of the contestants before continuing. "Secondly, I am adding a little twist on the gambling aspect of this round. We are going to sponsor a duo. This will allow the match to be influenced." He explained. "The one rule of that though is that if you, yourself, cannot step foot into the ring. You must influence it from outside of the ring."
A pause. An even wider, unnatural smile. "So, my lovely spectators… who would you like to go to the next round? Choose your favorite and then come to me and donate to the House, for your chance to be able to influence the odds."
OOC: Welcome to the second part and Second Round of the Slaughter Ring Slasher Event! It will be similar to the first, except, there IS a twist in this part. You can have your character, if they are spectating, choose which duo they want to Sponsor; When you Sponsor a duo, their fight will be influenced. Please message the admins privately to let us know who your character is going to Sponsor.
You will still roll three dice to decide how the match goes, and it is still best two out of three wins, however, if your duo is influenced, an advantage re-roll is introduced. Once you have completed all your rolls, if influenced, your character can pick a roll to re-roll and keep the highest score from. The characters individually pick which roll, and it does not have to be the same as your opponent.
Roll 1: Azagi rolls 9, Jakoris rolls 10
Roll 2: Azagi rolls 19, Jakoris rolls 2
Roll 3: Azagi rolls 16, Jakoris rolls 17
Jakoris wins - but wait, the fight has been influenced.
Azagi Roll 4 - Azagi chooses to reroll Roll 1. She gets a 15, which replaces the 9.
Jakoris Roll 4 - Jakoris chooses to reroll Roll 2. He gets a 1, he keeps the original roll of 2.
The results are now:
Roll 1: Azagi rolls 15, Jakoris rolls 10
Roll 2: Azagi rolls 19, Jakoris rolls 2
Roll 3: Azagi rolls 16, Jakoris rolls 17
Azagi wins!
Congratulations KING! In a world filled with chaos, where darkness lurks even in areas of light, you get to choose which side you’re on. We’re excited to have you!

The roster’s updated; ring names etched to the wall just behind the ring as sign-up slips make their way into waiting hands. Most are voluntary — citizens of the State who are thrilled at the chance to enter the ring. Others, though, are what Nolan would consider pleasant surprises. Names that have been entered by those who thought they were worthy of having their desires granted.
"Look at that—" Nolan smiled — twisted upwards in a way that was almost unnatural — as he motioned dramatically towards the wall. "Everyone has a representative! Perfect."

FORGOTTEN COMMANDER V. WHORL

"A bit of a disappointment that I don't see any Speakers on the board, though. I thought that maybe they'd enjoy such an organized, community based, spectacular event." Nolan placed his hands behind his back, sighed, and then put on another smile as his eyes searched for each Speaker that was in attendance. He was slow about it, keeping eye contact for several seconds before sliding to the next. "Don't you worry, though. I have something special in store for them today. A prize, if you will. Something that I think will truly blow their minds."
Eyes raked over the wall, desperate and hungry to see not only who had entered, but who was pinned against one another. Laughter, shouts of excitement, and gasps filled the space. "I know! I know. Exciting, isn't it? Especially the fact that we have two Royal Siblings entering the ring together. The Commander of the Royal Army and eldest, black sheep of the family who has a murderous reputation of her own. Who do we think is going to win that fight?" Nolan's laughter joined the crowds as he waited for people to shout their answers. "If you're confident, bets can be placed at the bar. Be quick about it, though, the show will be starting in a half hour!"
OOC: Welcome to the first part of the Slaughter Ring Slasher Event! Those whose names are up on the wall, start lining up for your fights! And everyone else — get comfy, grab your drinks, popcorn, and maybe a bit of blood if that's what you're into, and get ready for the fights of a lifetime.
If your characters are part of the fights, us admins will set up the channels in the discord so that we can utilize the dice rolls. Once they are done, the muns can plot & decide how they'd like the fight to happen, though ultimately the dice decides! Please check the #how-it-works channel on discord for more information. If your characters are not involved in that way, they are more than welcome to spectate or even cause a little bit of trouble on their own, outside of the ring. It's all up to you!
And of course, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask us in the ask the admins channel, or in our dms!
