↪ Meet Sydney

With a father who prefers to stay on the moral side of things, it was no surprise that her family stayed close-knit. With weekly family dinners, Sydney and her siblings were forced to behave. Their mother struck the fear of god into them. Their father, a well-known figure in the law enforcement community, was more relaxed than his wife and well loved by all his children. He knew how to have fun and do spontaneous things. As his children got older, Stanley Miller began to spend more time at work than at home. The more nights that her father was absent from dinner the less her family got together. Soon her parents were fighting more and she caught her father out to dinner with a woman who wasn’t her mother. She rebelled even further and each snide remark she offered to him was doused in disapproval. Especially when he made her promise to keep it a secret from everyone. Soon she pulled herself away from any event that involved being near her father. She would keep quiet but she wouldn’t make an effort to seem like nothing had happened. She knew what it would do to both her family and specifically her mother if the truth got out and she doesn’t want to see the pain and destruction.  Sydney loves anything that will get her a good laugh—even a prank here and there. Sarcastic and lively, Sydney Miller is a force to be reckoned with. She loves the nightlife of the city and drags her friends out with her at times. She is very protective of those she cares for and will do anything for them, regardless if she wants her to or not. However, during her first year at university, Sydney woke up in an alley far from campus, completely confused. Attacked and drugged, she had no idea what happened and she can barely remember anything. A dark form in her head haunts her dreams and memories. Now she doesn’t go out late at night without a friend—not that they let her. Her parents have no idea about her attack and her brothers think she should tell them. Determined to not be seen as a victim she pushes through and acts like she is alright when really she has trouble sleeping often. Sydney puts everyone ahead of herself and would rather focus on their problems than her own. Which is why she’s even resorted to spending more time studying. Independent without a doubt, Sydney works to support herself and have the life that she wants.

Ever since he was a toddler, Zach has been a little menace – in the best sense, of course. With high energy levels and a mind set to wreaking havoc, the kid was a pain from the moment he learnt how to walk. His saving grace has always been the nature of his antics, however, which never failed to bring a smile to everyone’s faces and were often what got him out of trouble at the end of the day. Though even with all his antics Zach still has managed to maintain a high gpa. It amazed both his parents and himself when he scored as the top 10% of his graduating class.   At school, Zach remains the usual boisterous young man he’s been his whole life. His pranks and jokes are always lighthearted and quite clever. The dedication he displays towards his extracurricular activities is sometimes at the detriment of his studies, but his innate ability to recall a lecture he daydreamed through has saved his grades on more than one occasion. In college nothing has changed. Only now he’s living away from the eyes of his parents which certainly has made it easier for him to slack off. Yet, his ability with numbers could be considered by some as genius. There’s a part of him who would love nothing more than to fail out of school, if only to ruin the high expectations that his parents have for him. Nonetheless, Zach can be known for some type of adventure around San Francisco.

↪ Meet Virginia

Little Virginia is filled with vibrancy and a talent that many don’t have. However, she’s wasn’t always such a ray of sunshine. Born and raised in Florida, she chose to go far from home. There memories there were too harsh for her to want to stay. Getting a full ride scholarship to CBU was something she is proud of and doesn’t take it for granted. When she was twelve, Virginia was kidnapped on her way home from school. For five days, she was under the control and watch of a couple who wanted kids of their own but never were able to conceive. After their adopted children were taken away, they went out to search for a child to call their own. Virginia hasn’t told anyone but the authorities and her family what occurred there and that’s how she plans to keep it. There is nothing more she wants then to find a new place in San Francisco where she isn’t known as the girl who was kidnapped. Here, she wants to be known as a friendly face and an amazing dancer. Professionally trained since she was seven in hip hop, she decided to focus more on other styles of dance while at college. Being versatile is a skill that all dancers should have in her opinion. Virginia hopes to thrive in the city and wants to take advantage of everything and not live in fear. Her parents still make her call them nearly every day and while she understands why, Virginia just wants to move forward and not focus on the past.

↪ Meet Violet

Originally from London, England, Violet grew up around fashion. It was her parents’ passions and that transferred onto her as she grew up. Of course, being in such a competitive and high class society, Vi had to learn how to hold herself up. Her parents did none of that for her. It was something that she was grateful for, rather than resentful. She lived in England up until she was fifteen. Arriving in America, Violet refused to completely accept American ways. She was and always would be a girl of London. Even now, three years later, Violet cherishes anything related to her home country—including a nice cuppa tea every time she feels stressed. She hopes to one day be as renowned as her mother is and she’ll do anything to make that happen. Violet’s attitude and snobbish ways often make others assume she’s another blonde dumb girl. However, she’s actually quite smart, she just chooses to not focus on that. She likes to keep active, feeling completely useless if she’s sitting around doing nothing. During school breaks, she doesn’t see her parents that often; no more than a few days at a time. Which is alright for her most of the time. She has an eye for fashion and isn’t afraid to try new things. Vi often hopes to improve others’ sense of fashion. This doesn’t seem to come out nicely however and she tends to sound more bitchy and demanding than her true intentions.

↪ Meet Shane

Shane is possibly one of the most heartfelt people around. Born and raised in Oakland, he spent most of his time taking care of his mother and sister. His father was constantly working and if he were honest he’d admit the two don’t get along all that well. His younger sister and mother are both mentally disabled; though his mother has learned to adapt to her needs as she grew up. His sister is the apple of his eye. She’s the one person who can make him do just about anything and he has no problem with that. Shane’s father believes in working hard and providing for his family and doesn’t take time to really adjust to anything other than his own schedule. Going away to school, even if he’s less than an hour away, was a difficult decision for him. However, his family encouraged him to go to Caligo Bay and pursue his passion for special education. Being in a new place has set Shane on edge and he’s always been on the more introverted side of the spectrum. But he enjoys his classes and the friends he’s been making. He’s one of the very few males in his major and for some that may seem like a blessing to others his age but Shane has never really had luck with girls. He accepts that he’s there to learn; not to flirt and distract himself.

River had always grown up in a rather bohemian lifestyle, skyrocketing when in hirs teens. Hirs parents were laid back “hippies,” so to say, whom lived in Portland. Hirs activities and whereabouts were never too much of their concern. They’d very much let River live a more relaxed lifestyle with very few rules for they didn’t believe in authority. As long as hir was doing good, well, then it was alright with them. In hirs teens, River experimented with many things, drugs, meddling around with the same sex, you name it. A free spirit in the fullest. Within a few very short years, River had experienced many things and many places people years above hirs age hadn’t gotten the chance to, giving River much insight on life. But after all was said and done, River decided to go onto university, maybe not so much to prove of hirself since hir’d had the mindset one didn’t need schooling to be great but to bring on a new experience in life because that’s all life is. Experiences. And one should never let a new experience pass them by when presented the opportunity.

Unlike her older sister, Lisette is quite outspoken. She speaks precisely what she thinks if deemed necessary. It’s not out of vindictiveness, it is just how she is. Lisette believes that if she doesn’t want to be lied to, then why would anyone else? Her choice to follow a career in the culinary arts was one that was no surprise to anyone. She loves baking and cooking in any form. Often while at home, Lisette would offer up random and surprisingly delicious meals to her family. Now that she’s away at college, Lisette hopes to show who she is. A little rough around the edges, Lisette is a little more on the pessimistic side of the spectrum. She doesn’t have high faith in others upon first meeting them. When you do get to know her, Lisette is a loyal and longtime friend. She’ll always be there for you with artistically different foods and a shoulder to cry on. When it comes to her work, she is just like her sister—a perfectionist. If it doesn’t turn out precisely how she imagined it, Lisette will scrap the whole thing and restart. Her commitment to perfection could be her downfall or endearing depending on how one looks at it.

↪ Meet Lennox

Lennox is one of five siblings. She has spent nearly all her life having to try and stand out. That’s not to say she doesn’t love her family, in fact, they are the most important thing to her. It’s just that being surrounded by similar looking and sounding people has made it hard for Lennox to show who she is. Perhaps one of the few things she does know is that she never really identified as her born assigned gender. The Minettis are loud and proud. They show every emotion and tell every thought—something that she has inherited. Being one of the older siblings, Lennox feels a sense of protectiveness over those younger than her. She takes pride in being a caring and attentive friend. Yet, with being surrounded by people often she is still an independent person. She relies on herself to get where she needs to go in life. Her major isn’t something she was sure about when applying to Caligo Bay University. Business came easy to her and marketing and sales gave her the opportunity to show her personality more than any other. Her ideas are raw and creative and she takes pride in her work. Granted, she hasn’t been in college long, but she is hopeful for the opportunities that will come. When it comes to group projects, Lennox is someone that participates and offers out of the box thinking. She takes the effort to help anyone that needs it; even if they don’t ask explicitly. Which of course, creates a little tension. A bit nosy, Lennox forgets that there are boundaries at times. She knows she has this problem and fixes herself as quickly as she can. When it comes to her beliefs and ideals, Lennox is stubborn. Once a decision has been made in her mind, that’s it. There is no changing it.

↪ Meet Kam

There’s a lot about a person’s past that is responsible for how they grow up. For Kam it was his struggle with his weight. He’d always had a few extra pounds as a kid but everyone just told him it’d come off as he got older. But as he entered high school and everyone’s baby weight was nearly gone, Kam still had the extra weight. It haunted him for half his high school career so much so that he eventually became depressed and constantly worried about what others thought of him. Regardless of his weight, people enjoyed talking with him. Kam has a personality that draws people in and his ability to be unfathomably kind added to it. In the summer before his junior year, Kam’s parents got him a nutritionist and a personal trainer to help him manage his weight. When he returned to school in September people barely recognized him and when they did they congratulated him for accomplishing his goal. Going away to college, far enough from his hometown in Oklahoma, gave Kam the chance to really expand his horizons. He’s continued his newest passion in soccer and lacrosse and has taken up a major that expands from what he’s learned first-handed about nutrition. His nutritionist from home became such an inspiration to him that he often considers her part of the family now--though he still harbors his young teen crush on her a bit. It takes a lot for him to feel like the old self-conscious version of himself but when he does he settles back into hiding away and avoiding others. Kam accepts that there will always be that negativity left over but pushes it away as often as he can. Instead he keeps to his routines and structure but also helping others around him in whatever way he can; be that through healthy eating or talking through a problem. If only he could break through his somewhat amusing fear of females, then he’d be as average as any college freshman.

↪ Meet Holden

Two months shy after Holden was born, the infant and his parents were travelling a few miles away from home to retrieve his older brother, Hayden, from pre-school. Traveling on a rural highway, the parents were bickering, not paying attention to what they thought was an empty road. As eyes came back to the road, a buck stood only a few spaces in front of them. Holden’s mother freaked out, skidded off the road and crashed into a tree, killing the two parents on collision. Fortunately, Holden , in the back seat, survived the crash without a single scratch, bruise or gash. The two brothers were now left orphaned. Though, luckily, their grandparents gladly took the boys in. The accident hadn’t quite affected Holden as it had his older brother Hayden, after all, Holden hadn’t exactly gotten to get to know his parents as people. How could he? He was two months when they’d met their demise. Nevertheless, Holden was of course still saddened over the fact that he would never have the chance to know his parents but he had always been in higher hopes than his older brother. He’d gotten over it faster, per se. Overall, their grandparents raised two fine boys, similar yet very alike in personality. Holden had grown to find out he and his brother shared some of the same talents but Holden obviously had others exclusively to him as well, as did Hayden. Holden, unlike Hayden, is an open book. An unfiltered one that is but still a sweet person nonetheless.

↪ Meet Gavin

As a young child, Gavin never had many friends, he spent most of his time outside of school indoors playing his Nintendo, reading comic books or watching cartoons. But Gavin’s main focus was always video games, often time using it as an outlet to exert all of his feelings into. After all, no one really wanted to hang out with the boy, what else was he to do with his spare time? If it weren’t for his nerdy hobbies, who knows what mental state he would be in. Things didn’t much chance once he’d gotten to high school, yeah he’d gotten more romantic attention, but no one was ever out for more than just sex, which was quite disappointing, since he’d wanted more than that. Gavin wasn’t promiscuous like most guys his age, his mother had raised him to be better than someone who just used females for that reason. He continues to look for someone to have a meaningful relationship with, and is quite judgmental of those who want nothing more than casual sex. But for now, Gavin is content with his aspiring career to become a big time game designer, possibly working for a large company like Capcom, Konami or Bethesda, he’d take whatever he could get, even if it be an independent gaming studio.

Most people see Fabian as the goofy and random kid. Throughout high school he made his way from one friend group to another, never quite settling down. It was just how he was and how things worked. Born and raised in southern California, Fabian is one of five children, all of whom seem to have different opinions on basically everything. There is little that they can agree on but to Fabian there’s never been a bad thing about diversity. Before CBU, Fabian never really found his niche and applying to college proved difficult since he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. Instead of letting it bring him down, he took it head-on and chose something that surprisingly drew him in.  His parents weren’t sure what to do with his choice in major but barely gave it a second thought. Being away from home for the first time was unnerving to him but he always managed to blend in well enough with the crowd. He’s hoping to make a place for himself and at least manage to decide if the major he’s in is actually what he wants to do. Overtime, Fabian discovered himself as a demigender male and has taken to being support in the non-binary community. Fabian is the type of boy who can always bring a smile to someone’s face, though most of the time it’s not on purpose. He’s a goofy guy who sees the best in people, regardless if they deserve it or not. Though for all his positives, Fabian is very forgetful and often tends to find himself in a messy situation of things he’s forgotten to do.

↪ Meet Diana

For as long as she could remember, Diana was always given what she needed but never really what she wanted. Having to hop between her mother and father over the years set in a confusing combo of personality. With her mother she received anything she wanted so long as it kept her complacent and away while the older woman went on date after date. With her father, Diana was given strict rules and the punishments were harsher the older she got. Either way, Diana came to dislike both homes. Going to Caligo Bay University in a state on the opposite coast of the country was completely on purpose. She wants nothing to do with her parents and their complicated relationships; both with herself and with each other. Throughout her entire high school career, Diana was seen as someone to be underestimated. She kept to herself for the most part, acting as if she was on the kinder side of the spectrum. In reality, she was patient enough to know that after high school she would move away and able to be who she truly is. She’s still working out who that is precisely but generally Diana keeps up her kind act but it is far more obvious now that she doesn’t actually mean the generous words that she spins off her tongue. She’s an intelligent girl and that shows up anyone who dares to question her. She prefers things her own way and no one else's; a concept that earns her more trouble than anything else.

↪ Meet Celine

The Middleton sisters are nearly the opposite in every way. Compared to her older sister, Celine is the outgoing and daydreaming child. In fact nearly everything she does is considered childish. Music has always been her passion and she knew from a young age that she wanted to be a famous singer. Living where she does, Celine knew it was a possibility. Being compared to her older sister all the time took a toll on her but she never let it dampen her spirits. Even when they fight or her sister remarks on how she chooses to live her life, Celine still tries to make things peaceful again. Living with her father after the divorce wasn’t her choice. Her parents agreed that living with her father was the better option. They hoped she would see the error of her ways. While Celine would have rather not signed up for classes, she knew that thane was no option not to.  Always willing to make friends with just about anyone, she considers herself far more outgoing than Katerina. For high school, Celine was sent away to a boarding school out East. There she was tucked away out of the public’s eye. She tried her hardest to stay connected with her family but over the years she’s accepted that she is different. This realization has helped her discover her individuality. With a YouTube Channel of her own, Celine has begun to make a name for herself that has nothing to do with her family’s political standing. While her talent is only really known of on a small scale, she feels more accomplished than ever before. Going to school is what her parents want for her but she hopes to use the close proximity to reunite with Katerina. Her minor was chosen only to appear her father and the hopes that once her parents see her rising success that they would be okay with her dropping any connection to finance or business.

↪ Meet Zora

Zora’s family’s strong religious beliefs have recently caused her a lot of grief. Throughout her childhood she was largely unaffected, since her parents sent her to a boarding school in Connecticut every year just to ensure she was getting the best education. It wasn’t until she met Jon at school that the closed-mindedness of her parents really started to hold her back. After all, there was no way a boy who was an agnostic, or worse, an atheist was going to be a part of their daughter’s life. A huge fight about Zora’s future broke out on the eve of her graduation. A grudging agreement was reached and several last minute changes in plan found Zora attending Caligo Bay University, two thousand miles away from the man she hails as her one true love. Zora is practically counting down the days until she graduates from CBU. For the most part, she is content to play by the rules her parents laid out: attending Christian Fellowship, visiting them at least one weekend a month, and keeping her contact with Jon to a minimum. The last is a blatant lie, as she and Jon skype almost every night and he has even bought plane tickets to visit California after the holidays. Zora figures what her parents don’t know can’t possibly hurt them.
