Sending a shout out to all of my fellow veterans who were awarded the Purple Heart. It took me many years to fully appreciate mine. I always looked at it as a reminder of the day I was wounded. Until I realized that it isn’t awarded just for being wounded. It’s an award of merit for recognition of what happened before or after being wounded.
