I'm really excited to see the relationship between Robby and Langdon play out in season 2. A really common thing that you learn in sobriety is that other people in your life, whether they're addicts or unhealed in some other way, become very uncomfortable with and often resentful of your sobriety.

Putting in the work to heal and recover can be so triggering to people not at that place yet. Reactions range from "you didn't really have a problem" to "people don't actually change" to "oh so you're judging me now."

For whatever reason, your sobriety holds up a mirror and everything we've been shown about Robby's character indicates that he is already deeply uncomfortable with his own reflection, particularly when it takes the form of a younger, less broken version of himself. We've see it in his treatment both of Samira and Frank.

But Robby in season 1 felt betrayed by Langdon's substance abuse. I think Robby in season 2 is going to feel betrayed by his sobriety because he had been able to heal in a way Robby won't let himself access. It's too hard and too painful. Sobriety is hard and painful but Frank has put in the work Robby hasn't yet.

Reacting with suspicion or doubt that it's even possible or resenting Langdon for taking the time and space away from the hospital to heal are both likely responses.

It's gonna be so interesting to see if Robby's even capable of understanding his feelings towards a sober Langdon. I suspect he's not.
