It’s about how the Native Hawaiian culture was all but wiped out by the negative impacts of colonialism. The depopulating. The heisting of land and health. The educational, economic, and political powerlessness.

Timelapse view of lava moving on the plains near Pu’u O’o, Hawaii. The hill in the distance is called the “Pali”, it is the mark of a large normal fault created by part of the island sliding out towards the sea. Lava cascades over the Pali on its way to the ocean during the eruption. This is substantially sped up from how fast Pahoehoe lava typically flows.

So fun story, I was a lifeguard for Typhoon Lagoon for three years before starting my art career. Let me tell you, the friends I made there will forever be some of the most wonderful and influential people I’ve ever met. In fact, I met my best friend there and now am the maid of honor at her wedding.
