Headcanon
So from the first season 6 preview we can see Jake calling Amy his “brilliant wife” so I created this headcanon that after getting married they start calling each other “husband” and “wife” at any given opportunity.
And at first it’s cute and sweet, things like “Hey could you please tell my husband I’ll be late?” Or “Can’t wait to see my wife” and the whole precinct gets used to it. But. Rosa. Never. Does. She gets so fed up with them like “Okay, we get it, you’re married! We get it!”
But Amy and Jake never really stop or take her complaints seriously just cause everyone knows Rosa is a big softie and it becomes an inside joke for the three of them. Whenever Amy or Jake are with Rosa they smoothly bring their husband/wife up and see just how much Rosa Diaz can get annoyed each time. But then one day she goes downstairs to invite sergeant Amy for lunch and she just nods without even looking up, eyes completely focused on her paperwork and she says “Of course, let me just tell my husband first”. After that, she finishes whatever she was working on and pulls out her cellphone, sending a quick text message to Jake, getting up and saying she’s ready to go.
And it’s then that Rosa realizes what she said, how the word husband came out of Amy’s lips so naturally, it wasn’t forced at all, it had nothing to do with annoying Rosa, it was just out of habit. She also notices how Amy’s face lights up once she gets a reply from Jake and Rosa Diaz, the woman who claims to hate feelings, can’t help the grin that takes over her face.
Amy raises her head just in time but before she can comment on it, Rosa grabs her arm and drags her out of the precinct. Once they’re outside though she says “C'mon, let’s go to that restaurant your husband loves so much, you can even get some take out for him” and it’s so genuine, there’s no annoyance in her tone, she rolls her eyes after to get the point across that yes, I don’t mind it but if you tell anyone I think it’s cute or whatever I’m killing you both, whoever you told and then myself.
Amy nods, smiling “Sure, he’d love that” and later when she tells Jake, he’s really happy but also kinda sad because he loves teasing Rosa but he choses to pretend he doesn’t know so they can keep the inside joke. Rosa doesn’t mind at all.
Here’s another b99 playlist! I decided to do one of my favorite scenes with Holt and Peralta and also do the scene where my blog name came from so here ya go

I’d just like to say I’m happy to be here with my family. My super weird family, with two black dads and two Latina daughters and two white sons and Gina. To the Nine-Nine!
