âDo not act as if you had ten thousand years to throw away. Death stands at your elbow. Be good for something while you live and it is in your power.â
Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Heâs more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.
Emily Brontë / Wuthering Heights
I think mostly what young fandom types (and I guess younger people in general) who are very very invested in the idea that â20 is still basically a minorâ need to understand is that the feeling of âIâm just a child pretending to be an adult, and everyone else around me is a REAL adultâ is DEEPLY universal (and wonât stop, ever, by the way, sorry!) and also is not, like, praxis.
Believe me, I get it, but the self-infantilization needs to stop, especially when youâre trying to engage in conversations about actual children and the harms they can face. Yes, it is scary to wake up and realize youâre 22 and you still feel like youâre 15, but it happens to all of us. Youâre an adult. You have to deal with it.
Stretched!
One thing about feeding so many yard cats. Especially in the winter. Sometimes, they make you feel really, really loved and appreciated! In between trying to chomp my fingers. đ Butterscotch in particular likes to strrreeetttcchhh out for pets. Or stand in her back legs. Sheâs so sweet, when sheâs not vicious and mean! đ I had a small addition to my morning rounds, and that was to check onâŠ

Recreating Mom's soda cheese: the taste test
Recreating Momâs soda cheese: the taste test
Part OnePart TwoPart Three Well, here it is! The final product in trying to make my motherâs baking soda cheese. Did it work? Well⊠sort of. First of all, this is not at all like what I remember my motherâs cheese looked like. That was a semi-hard cheese that could be sliced. This⊠is not. Itâs more like a cream cheese in texture, but it wants to crumble more than spread. It can, however, beâŠ

Recreating Momâs soda cheese; the next steps
Okay, so the curds have been hanging for about 5 1/2 hours, and Iâve moved on to the next steps in trying to recreate my momâs cheese. Now, my Mom had said to just set it aside for a few hours, or overnight, so hanging it may have changed things a bit. I donât know. But this is what it looks like after hanging for most of the day. Also, itâs a good thing I covered the whole set up with anotherâŠ
