She smiled leaning into his hand and nodded. “Soon.”

The pair sat like this for a minute before her oven timer went off and he laughed. “We should get that.”

“Trust m I want to too.” she said sounding a bit shy she was just terrified of being his rebound girl no matter how many times he said she wasn’t.

Callum gave her a soft smile and pushed her hair away from her face. “Soon though.”

Callum smiled and leaned down to kiss her again. “Good.” He muttered.

She smiled kissing back before pulling away. “Not until you’re ready to take me out,” she whispered softly.

“Well I want to do it now.... But I know it’s too soon.” Callum muttered, he felt weird about how quickly his feelings changed.

“Alright…then…that’s set,” she said smiling up at him sure she looked a bit dopey

Callum smiled and leaned down to kiss her again. “Good.” He muttered.

She blushed and smiled nodding. “Just let me know a little beforehand.” she said. She didn’t want to look a fright and then him popping up at her door. She wanted the date to go perfectly in case he changed his mind after.

Callum ran his thumb along her cheek when she blushed. “Of course.” He chuckled.

“Good. I’ll be back in a few.” Ollie went behind the bar, putting the order in. When it was ready, he brought it back over to the man. “Here, it’s on the house.”

Callum just sat and stared at his phone while the other was gone, he still had a picture of Ophelia as his lock screen and he couldn’t bring himself to change it. “Uh- Thanks.” He said when the food was placed in front of him.

She smiled and cuddled into his arms perfectly happy and content for once in a very long time

“So... I don’t know when yet, but at some point I’m gonna take you on like- A date, okay?” He asked softly.

She smiled a bit hugging him back. “And I’m always here for you as a friend.” she said softly.

He grinned and pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head. “Good to know.”

Callum gritted his teeth and sent a message back. ‘You leave her out of this.’

Ellie frowned a little. “Are you Callum?”

“Yeah...” He said, looking at the girl again. “Why?”

Ollie nodded again awkwardly. “Alright, well, if you get hungry just wave me over. We have some pretty good burgers.”

“Actually-” Callum said, he probably should try to eat, he didn’t know how long it had been exactly since he had eaten. “A burger would be great.”

“That isn’t your choice Cal. I want to wait.” she said simply. “If there comes a time I don’t want to wait anymore I’ll tell you. But I honestly don’t see that happening. I like you a lot and I’m willing to wait days, weeks, years, however long it is for you.”

Callum nodded, his hands still on her waist, he pulled her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly. “That is... Just what I needed to hear.” He muttered.

faye--gordon:

Faye didn’t know how to help or be reassuring so she lapsed into silence with a little sigh, biting her lip as she looked down at the table, ripping open a sugar packet and tracing shapes on the table.

Callum glanced up when he heard the ripping sound and he smiled slightly. “You still do that? I didn’t know you still did that.”

“Why are you horrible.” she said trying not to laugh. She grabbed his chin so she was sure he was looking in her eyes. “You are amazing and strong and you had something terrible happen to you. I’m more than willing to wait for you. To let you get your head on straight. You deserve that. That’s my choice understand.”

Callum let her tilt his head and he looked at her, then entire time she spoke he just looked at her. “I don’t want you to wait... Because I don’t know how long you’ll be waiting for.” He muttered.

Ollie nodded softly. “I know that people try to tell you they know how you feel, but they don’t…” He trailed off, trying to imagine what he would be like if they hadn’t found Kelly over the summer. “But if you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. You aren’t alone.”

Callum looked up at the guy and nodded. “Yeah- Uh thanks.” It was hard for him to talk about, because as broken as he was over losing Ophelia, part of him felt relief because she couldn’t break his heart again. The fact that he felt that way made him hate himself.

Ellie hadn’t been expecting it so she turned with a slight frown, contemplating whether she should bother. “Uh, sure.” she nodded, giving a little shrug as she moved to sit down. Might as well get a coffee or something while she was here. “Are.. you alright?” She wondered.

Callum gave her a half smile and shook his head when she asked if he was alright. “Uh- No. My girlfriend just died.” He muttered.

“No it isn’t.” Faye frowned a little and shook her head as she looked back at him. “You cared about her and now…” She was gone, just like that. “It isn’t stupid.”

Callum nodded, still looking down, he didn’t know what to say to his sister, or if he even wanted to say anything. All he wanted to do was to figure out who it was that killed her.
