How can you ensure you are having the best life journey?
It's easy to get lost in Life, the routine, hours turn into days and weeks into months and before you know it years have passed.
Sometimes people feel as if they are wishing their life away, always focusing on the next 'goal'. I cannot wait till weekend, only so long till, I just wish it was...
There have been a few events, in my life recently, which have shocked me and pushed me into making bold decisions.
I am a confident out going person. I know if I put my mind to anything I can achieve it. However, I have always had a fear of travelling alone. Yet, I have yearned to visit Thailand for over 7 years. I've dreamt of standing on Thailand's soft white sand, swimming in crystal clear waters, soaking up the sun as the warm wind gently tickled my skin.
As I have mentioned quite a few life events made me realise I had to push myself out of my comfort zone. Life is precious and time ticks quickly. If you don't choose something different things will not change. I had to be bold, brave and just do it! To be honest the hardest part of my whole adventure was booking the plane ticket. I was shaking, with excitement and fear! 'The hardest part is the 1st step' which can often be the case in most big life decisions. Once it was booked things just fell into place. Truthfully, I hadn't felt as excited and focused for such a long time. The thought of experiencing the unknown was intoxicating. Even though I was undertaking copious amounts of research in where I should travel to what I needed to take etc. I knew that research wouldn't prepare me for how travelling would make me feel. Knowing I was achieving one of my long time life goals.
How can you achieve your goals?
Personally the best tool I use is to write a list if 10 goals monthly. Manageable, fun and sometimes challenging. I review these goals weekly and tick off what I have achieved. I truly believe this process further proves how capable I am at achieving what I want. It also made me realise that time goes quickly and that if u want something to happen you have to do it. Giving yourself a time scale and a specific target increases probability that you will achieve your goal.
Here's an example of a monthly 10 goals:
Cook healthy and nutritious meals (batch cook at weekend for the week)
See/contact these friends (list of friends)
Take up a hobby for the month once a week.
Write a gratification journal
Meditate for 10 mins every morning
If you have any ideas for your monthly goals let me know!
My April ones for Thailand are;
Boat ride swim with plankton at night
Visit an elephant sanctuary (I have chosen one where you cannot touch the elephants, you just observe them in the jungle)
Practice yoga every day(10 mins or more)
Write blogs for CalmChildren
Take part in songkran (Thailand's new year festival)
Take part in a Thai cooking class
...I'll be putting up posts / blogs so you know how I'm getting on with my goals!
